Applied Practices on the Application of VR/AR/MR Technologies to LVC Training Systems

  • The Republic of Korea (ROK) Army is developing the Army Synthetic Battlefield Training System and plans divisional-level Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) integrated training. This study proposes a plan to apply VR/AR/MR (Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality) technology to LVC integrated training systems to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of future LVC integrated training. The study investigated immersive military training systems in the ROK and advanced countries. As a result, we confirm that immersive technology can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of military training. Accordingly, we review the key technologies required for building a defense training system with immersive features and propose training subjects that can be enhanced in effectiveness and efficiency when built with an immersive approach. We also propose a plan to apply immersive technology to the Live, Virtual, and Constructive systems for the development of future LVC integrated training system.

Effects of integrated simulation education among nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic in Korea

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of integrated simulations conducted by virtual simulation and in situ simulation among nursing college students during COVID-19. This study was conducted from July 7 to 9, 2020 and the participants included 126 fourth-year nursing college students. Integrated simulation consisted of virtual simulation, teledebriefing, pre-briefing, in situ simulation, and debriefing. The results showed that after the use of various simulation modules and the training of integrated simulations incorporating virtual and in situ simulation training, critical thinking (t=5.20, p=<0.001), clinical judgment (t=6.71, p=<0.001), and simulation effectiveness (t=3.53, p=0.001). These findings could help establish the direction for more diverse forms of simulation-based education and it should be conducted in future nursing simulation during this COVID-19 pandemic era.

사단급 L-V-C연동훈련체계 구축을 위한 LVC통합아키텍쳐기술 설계 및 구현 (The Design and implementation of LVC Integrated Architecture Technology building division-level L-V-C Interoperability Training System)

  • 현재 국내에서는 L(실기동)-V(시뮬레이터)-C(워게임모델) 체계 간 연동 없이 독립된 환경에서 훈련을 수행하고 있다. L 체계는 훈련장 민원과 도로 제한 등으로 대부대 훈련이 제한되고, V 체계는 전술훈련과 연계한 훈련이 미흡하며, C 체계는 전투마찰 요소가 부족하여 실전성이 부족하다. 상하 제대 간 동시성 및 통합성 훈련 효과를 달성하기 위해 현재 운용 중인 L, V, C 체계를 상호 연동하여 제대별 통합연습훈련을 보장하기 위한 체계 구축이 필요하다. 현재 한미연합연습 간 C-C 체계 간 연동을 통해 모의지원을 하고 있지만, 실질적인 L, V, C 연동을 통한 훈련체계 개발은 연구단계에서 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 육군을 중심으로 L, V, C 체계 연동 구축을 위해 많은 노력을 하였으나, 연동체계의 핵심인 LVC통합아키텍쳐 기술은 아직 확보하지 못한 상태이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 L-V-C연동훈련체계를 구축할 수 있는 핵심기술인 LVC통합아키텍쳐 기술을 설계하고 구현하여 미래 훈련체계의 새로운 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 결론적으로 LVC통합아키텍쳐 기술의 확보를 통해 향후 사단급 L-V-C 연동훈련체계 구축이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

시뮬레이션 통합 실습을 경험한 간호대학생의 셀프리더십, 의사소통 및 팀효능감 (Self-leadership, Communication, and Team Efficacy of Nursing Students Participated in Integrated Simulation Training)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationships among self-leadership, communication and team efficacy of nursing students participating in integrated simulation training courses. Methods: Participants were 124 nursing students from the two different schools. Data were collected from December 2018 through January of 2019 and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: Self-leadership, communication and team efficacy were significantly different according to satisfaction of major, satisfaction of simulation course and satisfaction of leadership. Also significant correlations were found among self-leadership, communication and team efficacy. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that education programs based on simulation courses should be developed to promote self-leadership, communication and team efficacy of nursing students. A diverse simulation curriculum to improve the practical skills of nursing students needs to be developed.

소부대 전술 훈련을 위한 개체기반 워게임 모델과 전차시뮬레이터 연동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Integration between an Entity-based War Game Model and Tank Simulators for Small-Unit Tactical Training)

  • In this thesis, we propose an integrated simulation method of virtual tank simulators and an entity-based constructive simulation model for small unit tactical training. To do this, we first identify requirements for virtual-constructive integrated simulation in a synthetic environment. We then propose a virtual and constructive interoperation method where individual combat entities of virtual-constructive models are interacting with each others. We develop a method of aggregating individual combat entities into a larger combat unit and disaggregating an unit into entities from time to time. We also present a way of sharing synthetic environment information between the models. Finally, we suggest that for more effective interoperability, virtual and constructive models should be developed by using common combat object models. The proposed interoperation method can be extended to further live-virtual-constructive models.

  • This paper presents the iterative procedure with the concept of expanded waves in the spectral and spatial domains using the fast modal algorithm. We presents its applications to microwave integrated circuits on resistive substrate. The advantage is a reduction in computation time. These calculated results are checked by comparison with the experimental and simulated results by Sonnet and Momentum program.

공군 전투기 시뮬레이터와 워게임 모델의 V-C 연동에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Interoperability of ROK Air Force Virtual and Constructive Simulation)

  • 전장상황의 변화와 첨단정보통신기술의 발전에 따라 과학화된 훈련체계인 LVC 훈련체계가 주목을 받고 있다. 대한민국 공군은 전투기 시뮬레이터를 중심으로 공중전투기동장비(ACMI), 워게임모델을 가상의 합성전장환경에 구현하여 실전적이고 과학적인 훈련이 가능한 LVC 훈련체계를 구축하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 공군의 Virtual 체계인 전투기 시뮬레이터와 Constructive 체계인 전구급 연습용 모델의 V-C 연동시험 수행결과에 대해 다루고자 한다. 기종별로 각각 상이한 연동방식을 갖춘 F-15K, KF-16, FA-50 전투기 시뮬레이터를 표준 연동방식으로 변환하였으며, 합성 전장환경 모의 도구를 활용하여 3개 기종의 전투기 시뮬레이터가 상호 연동이 가능한 환경을 구축하였다. 그리고 공군의 연습용 모델인 창공모델도 표준 연동방식으로 변환하였으며, 연동 최적화를 위해 SW 일부를 수정하였다. 이를 통해 공군의 전투기 시뮬레이터와 워게임 모델이 연동이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 향후 공군 LVC 훈련체계 개념연구 및 체계개발 간에 유의미하게 참조할 만한 근거가 될 것임을 기대한다.

통합적 간호실무 시뮬레이션 기반 훈련이 간호대학생의 스트레스, 학습흥미, 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Integrated Nursing Practice Simulation-based Training on Stress, Interest in Learning, and Problem-Solving Ability of Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: In this study the time point of effects that repeat exposure to simulation-based nursing training has on stress, interest in learning, and problem-solving abilities were identified. Methods: Participants for this study were 75 nursing college students in Seoul. In a preliminary survey data were collected and measured for the general characteristics, stress, interest in learning, and problem-solving abilities of the students. Then, stress was assessed before performance of each of four-rounds of simulation training scenarios. After each simulation round, interest in learning and problem-solving abilities were assessed. Results: With respect to stress, no significant differences were found when comparing the results of the preliminary survey to those of each of the simulation-based training exercises. For the sub-items of interest in learning, interest in nursing knowledge and interest in clinical training significantly increased between the preliminary survey and the $4^{th}$ survey. Interest in lab training increased significantly at the $1^{st}$ survey. Problem solving abilities showed a significant increase from the preliminary at each of the survey points. Conclusion: Increasing the exposure of nursing students to simulation-based training enhances their interest in learning and problem-solving abilities. Therefore it is necessary to have education strategies that includes various simulation experiences for students.

모델 변환기를 이용한 전투 21과 K1 전차 시뮬레이터의 연동 방안 (Interoperability between Combat 21 and K1 Tank Simulators using a Converter)

  • We examine interoperability for integrated training simulation of a mechanized infantry battalion that uses a war game model of Korean army, Combat 21, and virtual simulators of K1 tanks. We discuss issues and problems for integrated simulation of the virtual and constructive models, including differences between the model scopes, model resolutions, engagement algorithms, and data consistency and training audiences of the war game model and virtual simulators. From these, we identify interoperability requirements. We propose ways of resolving the problems using a model converter.

간호대학생의 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육과 교외 임상실습을 통합한 교육의 효과 (The Effect of Education Integrating Virtual Reality Simulation Training and Outside School Clinical Practice for Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 간호대학생에게 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육과 교외 임상실습을 통합한 교육을 적용한 후의 자기효능감, 임상수행능력 및 비판적 사고 성향의 차이를 확인하여 효과적인 실습교육의 기초자료로 제공하기 위함이다. 본 연구는 2020년 6월 8일부터 7월 3일까지 G시 소재 대학 3학년에 재학 중이며, 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육과 교외 임상실습을 받은 경험이 없는 간호대학생 30명을 대상으로 하였다. 자료분석은 Paired t-test로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육과 교외 임상실습을 통합한 교육을 적용한 후 자기효능감, 임상수행능력 및 비판적 사고 성향정도가 교육 전보다 통계적으로 유의하게 높아진 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 간호대학생의 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육과 교외 임상실습을 통합한 교육은 임상수행능력 향상과 더불어 비판적 사고 성향, 자기효능감을 향상시키는 것으로 확인되어 교외 임상실습 전 임상상황에 맞는 다양한 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
