Recently, in Korea, recognizing the importance of satellite imagery and a national project, the development of satellite providing satellite imagery information of 1m high resolution has been carried out. As the application of satellite. imagery information is expanded to the national land, the environment and geographical information, etc, the necessity of integrated management of satellite imagery information increases. Unfortunately, in case of Korea, currently, the results that institutes for satellite imagery processing produce with satellite imagery have been individually managed. Integrated Management of Satellite Imagery Information project which is being promoted by ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute) in Korea will provide the solutions for the above mentioned problems. In this research work, we designed standard metadata for integrated management of satellite imagery information in consideration of international and national standard.

It is important to manage large amount of information from various information providers for supporting recent information services such as providing global research trends, detecting emerging signal and listing leading researchers. For integrated management, definition of integrated metadata schema, data transformation and schema matching are needed. It is first necessary to analyze existing various metadata for defining integrated metadata schema. In this paper, we have analyzed several metadata of scientific journal papers by classifying semantics, content rules and syntax, and looked around considerations to make integrated schema or transform metadata. We have known that XML is used as a syntax for supporting convenience and various usage condition, and hierarchy element names and common elements in semantics are needed. We also have looked at elements having various content rules and related standards. We hope that this study will be used as basic research material of metadata integrated management, data transform and schema matching for interoperability.

This study proposed a metadata schema for integrated management of festival archives and records produced individually. To achieve the goals, this study reviewed related literature, studied comparison analysis of international standards in Korea, Australia, and England, as well as interviews with festival staffs. With the results of investigation that compared the standardizations related to metadata and analysis of features in festival archives and records, this study proposed a metadata schema to describe various features on festival archives and records. The expectation of this study is that the festival archives and records, which are created in various organizations related to festivals, can be managed effectively. Also, the proposed schema can be used for the establishment of a systematic management for various types of festival archives and records.

Metadata standardization of resources, having a heterogeneous metadata structure for each presidential archive and presidential library and museum is preferentially required for utilizing and sharing presidential records. An integrated operation model of metadata to manage various types of presidential records is then needed. The purpose of this study is to create a design principle of integrated metadata, and to suggest relationships and attributes of metadata, needed for developing integrated metadata operation system on presidential records. The design principle includes "creation of relationship among presidential records", "design of each entity, applicable multiple entity data model", "design to describe various types of presidential records", "design to reflect lifelong management on records of holding institutes", and "designing hybrid metadata for long term preservation". Metadata element set consists of elements for common attributes with all types of presidential records for a unique attribute for a specific presidential record and for reference information among different records related to the production of presidential records.

National Knowledge and Information Resources of KADO(Korea Agency for Digital Opportunity and Promotion) were distributed to the several data centers. The metadata for the resources was the conceptual level recommended standard. It was not for the integration, but the retrieval. So it is not easy to integrate to the central metadata DB or connect metadata among the data centers. In this paper, we analysed the metadata of the several data centers and provided the integrated standard model for the central metadata DB.

The goal of this study was to examine the relationships between usability and the searching experience, and to uncover where an integrated cataloging and metadata system lay the usability problems of its primary users, catalogers. This study showed that the most important aspect of usability in Connexion lay in the experience of information retrieval system. Also, it showed there are seventeen usability problems to be improved in Connexion. Needless to say, it is most important to note that usability is not an exclusive goal of such an integrated cataloging and metadata system. Other goals such as quality of catalogs, and the reliability of its cataloging and metadata system are equally its concern. This study also suggested more testing on diverse cataloging systems and specific user groups, especially catalogers.

Most metadata quality measurement employ simple techniques by counting error records. This study presents a new quantitative measurement of metadata quality using advanced weighting schemes in order to overcome the limitations of exiting measurement techniques. Entropy, user tasks, and usage statistics were used to calculate the weights. Integrated weights were presented by combining these weights and were applied to actual journal article metadata. Entropy weights were found to reflect the characteristics of the data itself. User tasks presented the required metadata elements to solve user's information need. Integrated weights showed balanced measures without being affected by the influence of error elements, This finding indicates the new method being suitable for quantitative measurement of metadata quality.

Various organizations generate and collect human rights records in North Korea for the purpose of punishing perpetrators and compensating victims; hence, a systematic and integrated management system on such records is needed. As such, the study aims to propose metadata for the human rights records in the country. Furthermore, the study derived common and necessary elements for the management of human rights records and referred deficiencies to the United Nations' (UN) guidelines by analyzing three local and international organizations and two human rights record software. Overall, the metadata consists of 15 upper elements in total with their corresponding subelements. Each of the proposed upper elements consists of 13 essential and 2 optional elements.

One of the most interests is currently a field related with serious game. Also, the scale of serious game industry is rapid quantitative growth every year. For effective management of metadata of serious game is an important issue so that we propose design of integrated management system for effective management of metadata of serious game. The system provide a service based on internet. Users(general users, developers, experts and managers of metadata) of serious game who can carry out effectively works using proposed system such as new metadata information input, existing metadata information search, generated document files(HTML, XML, EXCEL, MS-WORD) as search results saving into their owns local computer system and so on.

As the rapid develoment of internet and information technology, the traditional library has been altered to the digital content service based on the world wide web. This paper proposes a design and implementation of an Artcle Union Catalog System(AUCS) based on metadata. The metadata set for the AUCS consists of twelve Dublin Core elements and one holdings element. The qualifiers of the proposed metadata elements are also represented. The AUCS system has an online cooperated cataloging system using the web interface or the 239.50 protocol, an union cataloging management system, and an integrated information retrieved system service. The integrated search and retrieval service of the AUCS displays not only the summary and detailed bibliographic information, but also the abstract, the table of contents, the digital content, and the copylfax service.
