This paper describes switching surge analysis for reclosing decision in 345kV combined transmission line with XLPE power cable. Reclosing operation should be decided based on the detailed technical analysis in combined transmission line because this line includes power cable section which is week on insulation. Insulation of power cable can be breakdown at the week point in case of reclosing moment. Therefore the detailed analysis has to be carried out by considering several conditions such as length ratio of power cable section, arrestor, inserting resistance, charging rate, grounding resistance, etc.. On the other hand sheath voltage on IJ(Insulated Joint) is analyzed to check dangerous condition on cable cover. Analysis is performed by EMTP/ATP. Analysis results show that reclosing can be operated as the single line-to-ground fault occurs on overhead line in 345kV combined transmission line, if the inserting resistance is considered before the operation of main circuit breaker.
The ratios of compliant branch circuit of leakage current and insulation resistance were 68.4% and 90.8%, respectively at the lamp load, 64.6% and 96.5% at the heat load, 86.7% and 88.9% at the power load. Limit of residual current of the zero phase secondary current value at the zero phase primary current was 100 A when rated primary current 400 A more than. The reason why the ratio of branch circuit of the leakage current was less than the ratio of compliant branch circuit of the insulation resistance might be that the leakage current includes the capacitive leakage current and the zero phase current.

In this paper, we find out the lifetime index in order to determine the time-dependent trend of deteriorating performance of 6.6kV high-voltage power cable in operation at a power station. The cable systems used in our study have been in operation for 13 years. With measurements for the 13 years, we analyzed the insulation resistances. By developing measuring equipment (comprized mainly of transformer, temperature sensor, and LPF) operating by the three-phase electric power, we analyzed the changing characteristics of insulation resistance of power cable. In contrast to 22kV cables, 6.6 kV cables have thicker insulation. Therefore the characteristics of 6.6kV cables are different from that of 22kV cables. The study found that as time passes, the insulation resistance does not decrease continuously; it decreases to a certain value, then does not decrease any more and shows properties of oscillation. We could not detect the process of deterioration in the preceding twelve years. The cable system showed great stability so that deterioration was not apparent. In this case, it is not possible to measure the future life indices of power cables because the lifetime indices are not predictable
In the case of a fire accident on a ship or an offshore plant, the design of the bulkhead penetration piece must be verified via a fire test procedure (FTP), as specified by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC). The purpose of this study is to verify both the numerical analysis results and the design specifications for penetration pieces that could be applied to the A60 class bulkhead division. In this study, the FTP was carried out in accordance with the test procedure prescribed in the MSC regulation. In order to review the fire resistance performance according to the material type, bulkhead penetration pieces for the FTP were made from brass, carbon steel for machine structures (S45C), and austenite stainless steel (SUS316). In addition, spray-type insulation and mechanical fastener-type insulation were applied to investigate the fire resistance performance according to the type of insulation. To verify the heat transfer numerical analysis results for the A60 class bulkhead penetrating piece from this test study, the design specifications of the penetrating piece material and the insulation type applicable to a ship and an offshore plant were identified.

The usual way used by electric power stations to deliver high levels of generated power is via 6.6kV XLPE (or CV) cables. Depending on the manufacturing technique, installation environment, and usage conditions, the deterioration processes of the power cables start from the instant of operation. Cable junctions may break down in three years from the start of operation due to the manufacturing or construction defects. Otherwise they should be in good working order for 20-30 years. When the cable system (the cable itself and cable junctions combined) deteriorates, fire accidents happen due to the dielectric breakdowns. We have invented a device to monitor the deteriorating status of cables at Korean Western Power Co. Ltd. located in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do province. In this paper, we introduce the device hardware. Using the device, we have measured the insulation resistance and humidity in the sheath of the cables. We present, in analysed results, the effect of humidity on insulation resistance in cable sheaths.

Recently, the structure system for apartment buildings in Korea has been changing from wall to post-beam structure. This study examines the fire resistance and sound insulation of light-weight dried wall, a component of post-beam structure. For the fire resistance and sound insulation in Korea, the Compartment wall of apartment house in the case of building regulation has regulations specify the detailed requirement of fire compartment walls in apartment, but do not specify that of interior walls. This study proposes the fire resisting rate of the interior wall into three grades in which the highest grade requires fire resistance of 30 minutes and also proposes the requirement of sound insulation performance into three grades in which the lowest grade requires 35dB.
In the present study, composite insulation mat was reinforced over polyurethane foam (PUF) to improve the thermal performance and impact resistance of the PUF applied to the liquefied natural gas carrier insulation system. The composite insulation mat used Kevlar, aerogel, and cryogel composite mat that can be applied in a cryogenic environment. The thermal conductivity was measured at $20^{\circ}C$ to investigate the thermal performance, and the drop impact test was carried out under impact energy of 30 J at $20^{\circ}C$, $-163^{\circ}C$ to investigate the impact resistance. The measured thermal performance was compared with neat PUF through effective thermal conductivity theoretical value. The shock resistance was evaluated of contact force, contact time, and absorb energy. In experimental results, cryogel composite mat was the best performance in terms of thermal performance, and aerogel composite mat was the best performance in terms of impact resistance.

Consumer and property evaluation of wetsuit materials were conducted to obtain useful data for developing competitive products that meet consumer expectations and improving industrial competitiveness. Data were collected through online surveys of 213 domestic consumers who have experienced wearing wetsuit among marine leisure activities. Five types of commercial wet suit materials by brand and four types of commercial wet suit materials with the same quality by thickness were collected. Then, their physical properties, salt water resistance and thermal insulation rate were evaluated and compared. As a result, the most commonly used wetsuit material is 3 to 5 mm thick, and the basic jersey material is bonded on both sides. As a processing for imparting functionality, processing for improving warmth and reducing surface resistance are most frequently used. Consumers often feel uncomfortable when wearing a wetsuit, such as wearing comfort, weight, ease of movement, stretchability, and clothing pressure, which are different from those of casual wear. Also, mechanical strength and warmth were considered to be the most important criteria for selection of wetsuit material for purchase or rental. The mechanical properties of brand A and B were better than those of brand C, D, and E. Resilience and thermal shrinkage were better in brand C, D, and E. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the physical properties due to the difference in thickness of the material at the same quality. Also, it was found that the thicker the material, the more stable it is in the heat. Brand A and B had superior salt water resistance than brand C, D, and E. In the thermal insulation test, brand A and B showed better insulation characteristics than brand C, D, and E, but the types of bonded fabric and surface finishing of materials were thought to have affected. In comparison of the thickness, the thicker the materials, the better the salt resistance and the thermal insulation.
The application of the high-performance insulation materials for buildings seems to be an essential measure for reducing energy use in buildings. Phenolic foam is a readily available insulation material with thermal conductivity of about 0.018 to 0.020 W/(mK). It has the advantage of higher thermal resistance and better fire resistance compared to other conventional building insulation materials. Insulation material used for building envelope is regarded as one of the decisive factors for building's energy load. Furthermore, the degradation of its thermal performance over time increasingly affects the building's energy use demand. Generally, the life span of conventionally built buildings is expected to be more than 50 years, so the long-term performance of insulation materials is critical. This paper aims to evaluate the long-term performance of phenolic form boards through an accelerated aging test. The tests were conducted according to BS EN 13166 and KS M ISO 11561. Based on the results of the accelerated aging test, the thermal performance variation of the material was analyzed, and then its aged value after 25 years was computed. Also, the characteristics of the phenolic foam board's long-term performance were also examined based on the standard testing methods adopted.

In case of developing new motor, many examinations was tested to decide a motor efficiency and reliability. To give reliability judgment, traction motor winding insulation was tested by electrical method after appling electrical, heat, mechanical, environmental stress. In this study, stator form-wound winding of traction motor in urban transit E.M.U was tested by accelerative thermal degradation test. Stator form-wound winding was tested on the accelerative degradation composed of heat, vibration, moisture, overvoltage and researched insulation resistance, dielectric loss, partial discharge for insulation degradation properties, evaluated withstand voltage. Degradation temperature was $230[^\circ{C}]$, $250[^\circ{C}]$, $270[^\circ{C}]$, for stator form-wound winding respectively. On the test results of accelerative thermal degradation, insulation properties were relied all temperature until 10 times and expected life was evaluated by the rule of reducing $10[^\circ{C}]$ life into halves. Expected life was 31.8 years. It is guaranteed insulation reliability because of exceeding 25 years life times as considering.
