  • Pilot and flight crew visual performance in general aviation aircraft operating is paramount for safe operation of the aircraft. Pilot compartment view, instrument and cockpit lighting forms an essential aspect of this visual performance, and therefore warrants guidance and standardization. This study introduces acceptable design criteria for pilot compartment view, instrument and cockpit illumination for general aviation aircraft.

단계별 비행훈련 성패 예측 모형의 성능 비교 연구 (Comparison of Classification Models for Sequential Flight Test Results)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present selection criteria for ROK Airforce pilot training candidates in order to save costs involved in sequential pilot training. We use classification models such Decision Tree, Logistic Regression and Neural Network based on aptitude test results of 288 ROK Air Force applicants in 1994-1996. Different models are compared in terms of classification accuracy, ROC and Lift-value. Neural network is evaluated as the best model for each sequential flight test result while Logistic regression model outperforms the rest of them for discriminating the last flight test result. Therefore we suggest a pilot selection criterion based on this logistic regression. Overall. we find that the factors such as Attention Sharing, Speed Tracking, Machine Comprehension and Instrument Reading Ability having significant effects on the flight results. We expect that the use of our criteria can increase the effectiveness of flight resources.

  • 오늘날 항공기 항행에 있어서 자동조종장치와 FMS (flight management system)의 발전은 조종사들의 작업량감소와 항행 안전유지에 그 성과가 크다고 할 수 있다. 특히 공항의 교통량이 많거나 표준계기 출발 절차 (SID; standard instrument departure)가 복잡한 항행의 경우에 자동조종장치와 FMS 장비의 효과는 더욱 크다. 하지만 일부 공항의 특정한 출발 절차에서 FMS의 오류로 인한 uncommanded turn 이벤트가 발생하여, 항공기가 항로의 중심선에서 벗어나는 경우가 있다. 대부분의 출발 절차가 RNAV(area navigation) 운영이 요구됨으로, 조종사의 상황인식과 수정 조작이 항로 편차(deviation)를 최소화하여, RNAV의 안전을 유지하는 유일한 방법이다. 이와 관련하여 uncommanded turn 이벤트의 국내외 발생 현황을 기종별, 공항별, 비행 단계별로 조사하고 항공사의 uncommanded turn 이벤트 경감방안 분석을 통해 해당 이벤트의 더욱 근본적인 재발 방지대책 마련의 필요성 및 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.

  • 국토교통부는 현행 항공법 체계 내에서 무인항공기급 비행안전기준 마련을 추진중에 있다. 이에 부응하여 군용항공기 운용 등에 관한 법률에 무인항공기 관련 내용의 보완 검토도 필요하다고 판단된다. 무인항공기 비행규칙은 무인항공기를 운용해야할 공역을 기준으로 적용할 비행원칙과 운용자 위치, 임무운용한계, 구비물품 등을 들 수 있다. 또한 실제 비행에 적용해야 할 규칙으로는 일반비행규칙, 시계비행규칙, 계기비행규칙 등이 요구된다. 그리고 무인항공기체계 운용자 간에 이루어지는 통화, 관제 및 통신사항, 공역 및 구역별 비행 등에 대한 적용규칙 마련도 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 공역에서의 무인항공기 운용은 항공기 성능에 대한 능력을 보장받는 것이 중요하지만 그에 못지않게 필수적으로 요구되어지는 것은 표준화된 비행기준이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 비행규칙과 공역에 대한 관리기준을 공역사용자가 모두 숙지하고 비행에 적합하게 적용하여야만 안전하고 원활한 비행운용이 가능하다. 본 논문은 표준화된 비행규칙과 법률의 보완을 위해 연구하였다.

  • Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), in collaboration with the NASA Goddard Sparce Flight Center (GSFC), will develop a next generation coronagraph for the International Space Station (ISS). COronal Diagnostic EXperiment (CODEX) uses multiple filters to obtain simultaneous measurements of electron density, temperature, and velocity within a single instrument. CODEX's regular, systematic, comprehensive dataset will test theories of solar wind acceleration and source, as well as serve to validate and enable improvement of space-weather/operational models in the crucial source region of the solar wind. CODEX subsystems include the coronagraph, pointing system, command and data handling (C&DH) electronics, and power distribution unit. CODEX is integrated onto a standard interface which provides power and communication. All full resolution images are telemeters to the ground, where data from multiple images and sequences are co-added, spatially binned, and ratioed as needed for analysis.

  • A flight simulator is an instrument which lets pilots attain proficiency of handling various emergency situations, and the sense of flying. In this thesis, current status of domestic simulators will be stated, and after showing the problems with the present management of these simulators, comparisons of how and what kind of facilities they are managed around the globe will be made. After comparing and analyzing the difference in the way the simulators are ran, measures of improvement in domestically appropriate simulators and increase of operating facilities will be drawn.

  • In case of KOREA, many difficulties are expected for pilots to adapt to the flight operational environment changes which we will meet suddenly in anytime of the future as the operating plan for GPS is not fully prepared yet. It is because GPS operation is rather difficult compared to other navigation equipments, and it takes much time and experience to be familiar with GPS instrument approach procedure. First of all, it is keenly required to establish GPS instrument approach procedure for the local airports to be familiar with GPS instrument approach procedure. We would like to introduce GPS instrument approach procedure for the Cheju International Airport as a basic model to help you to understand it.

국가공역체계 내에서 군용 무인항공기 비행규칙에 관한 제언 (A Proposal on the Aviation Rules of the Military UAV in the National Airspace System)

  • Military UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) operated as a RC(Remotely Control) model level within the limit of the military special use airspace until now. However, the high and medium altitude of URA(Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft) which the ROKAF have been trying to import recently is at the UAV level and needs the criteria for the classified airspace flights. The required flight criteria includes operator location, mission operation limit, equipment, etc., which are the principle and standard applied based on the airspace use for UAV. Also, the general flight rules, visual flight rules, instrument flight rules are required in order to have to be applied to the actual flight. Besides, an appliance regulation needs to be arranged regarding two-way communication, ATC and communication issue, airspace and area in-flight between UAS( Unmanned Aircraft System) users. An operation of the UAV in the air significantly requires the guarantee of the aircraft's capacity, and also the standardized flight criteria. A safe and smooth use is ensured only if this criteria is applied and understood by the entire airspace users. For the purpose, a standardized military UAV flight operations criteria that is to be applied for each airspace by UAV is to be prepared through analysis of the present state, a legend UAV system, and a special character analysis.

  • The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) plans to develop a coronagraph in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), to be installed on the International Space Station (ISS). It uses multiple filters to obtain simultaneous measurements of electron density, temperature, and velocity within a single instrument. The primary science goal is to understand the physical conditions in the solar wind acceleration region, and the secondary goal is to enable and validate the next generation of space weather science models. The planned launch in 2022 provides great potential for synergy with other solar space missions such as Solar Orbiter and Parker Solar Probe.

  • 현재 대부분의 공항에서 운용중인 계기착륙시스템 (ILS; instrument landing system)은 시스템 특성상 단일경로로 운영되어, 다수의 항공기를 수용하기에는 한계가 있다. 이러한 한계점을 해결하기 위해 GNSS를 이용한 위성항법시스템인 GBAS가 개발되었다. GBAS는 ILS 보다 위치 정확도도 높고 단일경로가 아닌 다수의 경로를 이용하여 착륙이 가능하기 때문에, 다양한 착륙절차를 수행할 수 있다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 환경적인 요건과 공역 제한 때문에 ILS 설치가 불가피한 태안비행장에 가상 ILS 절차를 수립한 후 cessna skyhawk 172를 이용하여 가상 ILS 절차와 curved approach 절차를 비교하는 비행시험을 하여 curved approach에 대한 장점을 확인 하였다.
