  • This paper considers the problem of subway crew scheduling. Crew scheduling is concerned with finding a minimum number of assignments of crews to a given timetable satisfying various restrictions. Traditionally, crew scheduling problem has been formulated as a set covering or set partitioning problem possessing exponentially many variables, but even the LP relaxation of the problem is hard to solve due to the exponential number of variables. In this paper, we propose two basic techniques that solve the problem in a reasonable time, though the optimality of the solution is not guaranteed. To reduce the number of variables, we adopt column-generation technique. We could develop an algorithm that solves column-generation problem in polynomial time. In addition, the integrality of the solution is accomplished by variable-fixing technique. Computational results show column-generation makes the problem of treatable size, and variable fixing enables us to solve LP relaxation in shorter time without a considerable increase in the optimal value. Finally, we were able to obtain an integer optimal solution of a real instance within a reasonable time.

靑少年의 生活時間 使用變化傾向에 관한 硏究 (An Analysis on Trend of Time Budgets of Korean Younger Generation)

  • 1) The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between general social changes and time budgets of younger generation in Korea. 2) I use the statistics which appeared in the 'Studies of the Time Budgets of Korean people" carried out by the Korean Broadacasting system in 1981 and in 1990. 3) The result of this analysis may be summarized as the following : (1) Even in the cases of biologically necessary acts such as sleeping and eating, the average time used by Korean younger generation is remarkably influenced by general social changes. (2) It is in the cases of optional acts such as reading, listening music and enjoying a move that general social changes influence excessively the time Budgets of children and the youth. (3) It seems that time Budgets of Korean younger generation are losing their balance and rationally year after year during 1981 and 1990. For instance they spend too much time enjoying TV or popular music. 4) As a conclusion, I shall strongly suggest : (1) Parents and school teachers should pay more attention in their guidance of their Children or pupil concerning the importnace of the time Budgest. (2) the programmers of television and radio should consider sincerly the educational influence of their products.

  • An objected-oriented programming(OOP) technique is introduced to dispatch schedules for TWBP. Some dispatch schedules such as constrained (pre)dispatch, unconstrained (pre)dispatch, and nominal self-dispatch schedule need to be peformed to make power market work. These dispatch schedules are similar but have some differences in required constraints, needed data, and scheduling time. Therefore, it makes the scheduling program simple to introduce the OOP technique to this problem: to have each instance of the OOP perform its own dispatch scheduling. The developed program adopts linear programming(LP) as an optimization tool and could consider some crucial constraints such as power balance, generation power limits, generation ramp-rates, power limitations of transmission lines, and power system security.

  • Internal heat generation is one of the insidious conditions affecting the quality of an industrial product after it is cast, coated, molded, forged or laminated. Frequently, the product is pressed into service before the exothermic chemical reactions in the generic material has been completed. The heat liberated from this continuing chemical reaction or the residual deformation from the rheological activities in the materials must be adequately removed or prevented, or the product may be discolored, warped, weakened or even "ignited" spontaneously. Numerous instances of premature structural failures, product-recalls, and/or system-malfunctions have been recorded in recent history. The Coulee Dam was poured with pre-chilled concrete just to negate this freakish encore. It is well-known that concrete (a non-isotropic conducting medium), for instance, takes 28 days to develop its full strength. Tilt Angle Generation in NLC on Homeotropic Polymer Surface with Ion Beam Irradiation as a Function of Incident Angle

  • We have studied the tilt angle generation on the homeotropic polyimide (PI) surface using a low intensity ion beam source as a function of incident angle. An excellent LC alignment of nematic liquid crystal (NLC) on the PI surface with ion beam exposure for all incident angles was observed. The tilt angle of NLC on the homeotropic PI surface for all incident angles was from 90 to 88 degree was observed. Also the tilt angle of NLC on the homeotropic PI surface with ion beam exposure of 400 eV had a tendency to increase as ion beam energy incident angle become more instance from 45 degree. Finally, a good LC alignment thermal stability on the homeotropic PI surface with ion beam exposure can be achieved.

  • The generation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from somatic cells using gene transfer opens new areas for precision medicine with personalized cell therapy and encourages the discovery of essential platforms for targeted drug development. iPSCs retain the genome of the donor, may regenerate indefinitely, and undergo differentiation into virtually any cell type of interest using a range of published protocols. There has been enormous interest among researchers regarding the application of iPSC technology to regenerative medicine and human disease modeling, in particular, modeling of neurologic diseases using patient-specific iPSCs. For instance, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and spinal cord injuries may be treated with iPSC therapy or replacement tissues obtained from iPSCs. In this review, we discuss the work so far on generation and characterization of iPSCs and focus on recent advances in the use of human iPSCs in clinical setting.

  • 지능망은 사용자의 다양한 서비스 요구에 부응하여 여러 가지 서비스를 보다 간단히 개발 적용시키는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 따라 차세대 지능망 플랫폼은 빠른 서비스 처리, 다양한 서비스의 동적 적용 등이 가능한 시스템이 되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 지능망 플랫폼의 핵심이 되는 SCP(Service Control Point)를 설계하고 구현하였으며, 특히, 설계시 확장성, 동적 서비스 분배 및 인터넷 환경을 고려한 빠른 서비스 처리 등의 지원에 중점을 두었다. 이 SCP는 시스템 운용을 담당하는 전용 커널, 전체 서비스를 관리하는 서비스 관리자, 각 서비스 별로 SLPI(Service Logic processing Program Instance)를 관리하는 SLPI 관리자 등으로 구성되어 있으며, 사용자 요청은 각각의 SLPI들에 의해 처리된다. 또한, 구현된 SCP상에서 동작하는 서비스의 손쉬운 생성을 지원하는 SCE(Service Creation Environment)환경을 제시하고, 이를 이용한 서비스 적용 예도 보인다. 현재 구현된 모든 구성 요소들은 유선 인터넷 환경을 고려하여 설계되었으며, 향후 IMT-2000 환경으로의 적용도 가능할 수 있도록 각 부분별로 구분하여 설계하였다.

AJFCode: An Approach for Full Aspect-Oriented Code Generation from Reusable Aspect Models

  • Model-driven engineering (MDE) and aspect-oriented software development (AOSD) contribute to the common goal of development of high-quality code in reduced time. To complement each approach with the benefits of the other, various methods of integration of the two approaches were proposed in the past. Aspect-oriented code generation, which targets obtaining aspect-oriented code directly from aspect models, offers some unique advantages over the other integration approaches. However, the existing aspect-oriented code generation approaches do not comprehensively address all aspects of a model-driven code generation system, such as a textual representation of graphical models, conceptual mapping, and incorporation of behavioral diagrams. These problems limit the worth of generated code, especially in practical use. Here, we propose AJFCode, an approach for aspect-oriented model-driven code generation, which comprehensively addresses the various aspects including the graphical models and their text-based representation, mapping between visual model elements and code, and the behavioral code generation. Experiments are conducted to compare the maintainability and reusability characteristics of the aspect-oriented code generated using the AJFCode with the most comprehensive object-oriented code generation approach. AJFCode performs well in terms of all metrics related to maintainability and reusability of code. However, the most significant improvement is noticed in the separation of concerns, coupling, and cohesion. For instance, AJFCode yields significant improvement in concern diffusion over operations (19 vs 51), coupling between components (0 vs 6), and lack of cohesion in operations (5 vs 9) for one of the experimented concerns.
