고수부지를 이용한 여과습지의 수질정화 초기처리 (Treatment Efficiency of a Subsurface-Flow Wetland System Constructed on Floodplain)

  • This paper presents treatment efficiency and plant growth of a subsurface-flow constructed wetland system (23 m in length, 6.5 m in width, 0.65 m in depth) over one year after its establishment on floodplain of a stream in June 2000. An upper layer of 10 cm in depth was filled with course sand and the main biological layer of 50 cm depth with crushed stone with 8 - 15 mm in diameter. The system was planted with common reeds (Phragmites australis) grown on pots. Effluent discharged from a secondary-level treatment plant was funneled into it. Reed stems emerging in April 2001 grew up to 145.9cm until July 2001. The number of reed stems in July 2001 increased by about 11 times compared with that just after planting. The system was inundated seven times by storms over the monitoring period. Reeds were slightly bent after flooding, however they returned to almost upright standing in a couple of weeks. Small portion of inside slope of berm was eroded and the system surface had a sedimentation of 2 - 3 mm in depth. The average removal rates for SS, $BOD_5$, T-N and T-P was 73%, 70%, 53%, and 72%, respectively. The purification efficiencies for SS and $BOD_5$ were fairly good. The reduction rates for T-N was relatively low for the period of late fall through winter until early spring due to lower water temperature which retarded microbial nitrification and denitrification mechanisms. Reduction in the concentration of T-P during fall and winter was relatively higher than that during spring. Leach of phosphorous from plant litters lying on system surface and slight resuspension of precipitated phosphorous in substrates resulted in lower reduction for T-P in spring.

Cu-35%Sn 합금의 일방향 열처리에서 출현하는 미세조직 (Microstructural Evolution in the Unidirectional Heat Treatment of Cu-35%Sn Alloys)

  • A specimen of Cu-35%Sn alloy has been subjected to the unidirectional heat treatment in an attempt to examine the evolution of microstructures under varying thermal conditions. The specimen was cast in the form of a cylinder 10 mm in diameter and 200 mm in length, which was then installed in the temperature gradient field established inside a vertical tube furnace. The furnace temperature was adjusted to make the upper part at $750^{\circ}C$ and bottom end part at $300^{\circ}C$ of the specimen. The experiment was terminated by dropping it into water after the 30 minutes holding at given temperature. By the rapid cooling, the high temperature phases, ${\gamma}$ and ${\zeta}$, were retained at ambient temperature with some of ${\gamma}$ phase transformed to ${\varepsilon}$ phase, especially at the grain boundaries of ${\gamma}$ phase. The presence of ${\varepsilon}$ phase was found to determine the nature of phase transformations of the ${\zeta}$ phase undergoes upon cooling. In the close area of the ${\varepsilon}$ phase, ${\varepsilon}$ phase grew separately out of ${\zeta}$, and adds to the preexisting ${\varepsilon}$ whereas in areas away from ${\varepsilon}$, both ${\delta}$ and ${\varepsilon}$ grew simultaneously out of ${\zeta}$, and formed a lamella eutectoid structure. The transformation to ${\delta}$ was found to occur only in slow cooling. The hardness on each phase showed that the retained phases, ${\gamma}$ and ${\zeta}$, could be plastically deformed without brittle fracture while the phases, ${\varepsilon}$ and ${\delta}$, were too brittle to be deformed.

Design and Implementation of the RF Systems for Bi-directional Wireless Capsule Endoscopes

  • This paper explains that the RF systems for hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes were designed and implemented. The designed RF systems for a capsule endoscope can transmit the images of intestines from the inside to the outside of a body and the behavior of the capsules can be controlled by an external controller simultaneously. The hi-directional wireless capsule endoscope consists of a CMOS image sensor, FPGA, LED, battery, DC to DC Converter, transmitter, receiver, and antennas. The transmitter and receiver which were used in the hi-directional capsule endoscope, were designed and fabricated with $10mm(diameter){\times}3.2mm(thickness)$ dimensions taking into the MPE, power consumption, system size, signal to noise ratio and modulation method. The RF systems designed and implemented for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes system were verified by in-vivo experiments. As a result, the RF systems for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes satisfied the design specifications.

GUI기반 산업용 디지털 기기의 측정값 인식 시스템 (A GUI-based the Recognition System for Measured Values of Digital Instrument in the Industrial Site)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상처리를 통해 GUI를 기반으로 산업용 디지털 기기의 측정값을 인식하고 기록하는 시스템을 제안하고 구현하였다. 제안한 시스템은 기존의 차량번호판 인식과 달리 산업용 측정기의 LCD화면에 표시되는 값은 디지털 숫자로 표시하고 있어 소수점과 마이너스 표시, LCD보호유리의 반사광등의 여러 가지 장애요인을 고려하였다. LCD화면에 표시된 숫자를 인식하기 위해 블롭 레이블링 (blob-labeling)기법을 사용하였으며, 인식한 숫자 이미지는 템플릿 매칭(template matching)을 통해 숫자가 무엇인지 판별하여, 인식한 측정값을 측정시간과 함께 저장장치에 기록하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템은 산업현장에서 제품의 내외경이나 높이를 측정하고 기록할 때 수기로 작성하는 번거로움을 줄이고, 수기로 작성 시 잘못 기입하는 경우를 방지함으로써 생산 공정 과정에서 오류가 없는 효율적인 공정관리가 가능하게 하였다.

판형 핀을 가진 원통-다관형 열교환기의 열전달 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Heat Transfer Characteristic of Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger with Plate Fin)

  • 본 논문은 세 개의 서로 다른 관수(9, 13 그리고 19)를 가지는 원통-판형 핀 관의 원통 측에서의 열전달 성능을 실험적 방법으로 평가하였다 관외를 흐르는 오일은 관내를 흐르는 냉각수에 의해 냉각된다. 오일 쿨러의 원통-다관형 열교환기는 단일 셀 통로와 두 개의 관 통로로 구성되며, 관 내경은 8.82mm, 관 길이는 575mm이다. 오일의 질량 유량은 $1.2{\sim}6.0m^3/h$이며, 냉각수의 질량 유량은 $0.6{\sim}3.0m^3/h$이다. 실험결과 9개의 관수를 가지는 열교환기의 총합 열전달계수는 13개와 19개의 관수의 열전달계수보다 각각 약 1.8배와 2.3배 높게 나타났다.

압탕 최소화를 위한 터보차저하우징의 융합 S/W 응용 제조기술 및 실험적 검증 (Fabrication Technology of Turbo Charger Housing for Riser Minimizing by Fusion S/W Application and its Experimental Investigation)

  • The purpose of this study is to increase the part recovery rate (to more than 70%) during the casting of a ductile cast iron turbo charger housing using a heater around the riser. Before creating a casting mold, various runner and riser systems were designed and analyzed with a casting simulation analysis tool. The design variables were the heater temperature, top insulation, riser location, riser diameter and the riser shape. During the feeding from the riser to the part, the reverse model was better than the forward model. When heating the riser (above $600^{\circ}C$), solidification of the riser was delayed and the feeding effect was suitable compared to that without heating. At a higher heating temperature, less solidification shrinkage and porosity were noted inside the part. On the basis of a casting simulation, eight molds were fabricated and casting experiments were conducted. According to the experimental conditions, external and internal defects were analyzed and mechanical properties were tested. The ultimate tensile strength and elongation outcome were correspondingly more than 540MPa and 5% after a heat treatment. In addition, a maximum part recovery rate of 86% was achieved in this study.

투명단열 축열벽 시스템의 열성능 평가 실험 연구 (Thermal Performance Evaluation Monitoring Study of Transparent Insulation Wall System)

  • Various efforts to combine new high-tech materials with solar system have been progressed nowadays in order to improve the performance of the existing passive solar system. TIM(Transparent Insulation Material) replacing the conventional outer building envelope glazing as well as the wall is good example for this trend. TI integrated wall is a thermal mass wall with a special shaped TIM instead of using typical envelope materials The tested TIM type is a small(diameter 4mm and thickness 50mm) capillary tube of Okalux model and cement brick(density 1500kg/m3). The purpose of this study was to analyze the thermal performance through the actual measurements performed in a test cell. This study was carried out to justify the following issues. 1) the impact of Tl-wall over the temperature variations 2) the impact of mass wall surface absorptance over the transient thermal behavior and 3) the impact of thermal mass wall thickness over the temperature variations. Finally, as results indicated that the peak time of room temperature was shifted about one hour early when absorptance of thermal mass wall changed from 60% to 95% for the 190mm thickness thermal mass wall test case. the temperature difference of both surfaces of thermal mass wall surface showed about $23^{\circ}C$ during a day of March for the 380mm thickness thermal mass wall case. However, the thermal mass wall was over-heated by outside temperature and solar radiation in a day of May the temperature difference of both surfaces of thermal mass wall surface was indicated $10^{\circ}C$ and inside temperature was observed more than average 22C.

  • The heat transfer characteristics of a solar high-temperature receiver with heat pipes was investigated by numerical simulation. The concentration ratio of the solar receiver ranges 1000 and the concentrated heat is required to be transported to a certain distance for specific applications. This study deals with internal geometry variation of a solar receiver incorporating high-temperature heat pipe. The isothermal characteristics in the receiver section is of major concern. The diameter of the solar thermal receiver was 120 mm and the length was 400 mm. The angle of receiver end wall was varied between $0^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$. The wall thickness of the heat pipe channel was 4mm and 48 axial channels of the same dimensions were attached to the outer wall of the receiver with even spacing in the circumferential direction. The channels are changed to high-temperature sodium heat pipes. Commercial softwares were employed to deal with the radiative heat transfer inside the receiver cavity and the conduction heat transfer along the channels. The numerical results are compared and analyzed from the view Point of high-temperature solar receiver.

  • 내경 0.109 m의 유동층에서 다입자경 모래에 대한 압력요동의 표준편차와 유속간의 선형회귀분석을 이용한 최소유동화속도 측정법의 적용성을 조사하였다. 다입자경 모래를 평균입자크기가 같은 Gaussian 분포에서 입자분포의 표준편차에 따른 최소유동화속도를 측정하고, 측정치를 타 연구자들의 식과 비교 검토하였다. 압력요동의 표준편차 값 선형회귀분석법과 층내 압력강하로부터 구한 최소유동화속도를 구하였다. 최소유동화속도 결정에서 유속 범위는 혼합도가 낮은 유속범위와 free bubbling 영역 이상을 제외한 범위값 이어야 하며, 이 유속범위에서 측정위치는 혼합이 양호한 층 중앙이 가장 적절하다.

공기 중 메틸에틸케톤 제어를 위한 Pilot-Scale 흡수 시스템의 운영인자 분석 (Analysis of Operation Parameters of Pilot-Scale Packed-Absorption System for Airborne Methyl Ethyl Ketone Control)

  • Unlike many laboratory-scale studies on absorption of organic compounds (VOCs), limited pilot-scale studies have been reported. Accordingly, the present study was carried out to examine operation parameters for the effective control of a hydrophilic VOC (methyl ethyl ketone, MEK) by applying a circular pilot-scale packed-absorption system (inside diameter 37 cm ${\times}$ height 167 cm). The absorption efficiencies of MEK were investigated for three major operation parameters: input concentration, water flow rate, and ratio of gas flow-rate to washing water amount (water-to-gas ratio). The experimental set-up comprised of the flow control system, generation system, recirculation system, packed-absorption system, and outlet system. For three MEK input concentrations (300, 350, and 750 ppm), absorption efficiencies approached near 95% and then, decreased gradually as the operation time increased, thereby suggesting a non-steady state condition. Under these conditions, higher absorption efficiencies were shown for lower input concentration conditions, which were consistent with those of laboratory-scale studies. However, a steady state condition occurred for two input concentration conditions (100 and 200 ppm), and the difference in absorption efficiencies between these two conditions were insignificant. As supported by an established gas-liquid absorption theory, a higher water flow rate exhibited a greater absorption efficiency. Moreover, as same with the laboratory-scale studies, the absorption efficiencies increased as water-to-gas ratios increased. Meanwhile, regardless of water flow rates or water-to-gas ratios, as the operation time of the absorption became longer, the pH of water increased, but the elevation extent was not substantial (maximum pH difference, 1.1).
