The purpose of this study is to investigate the factor for improving elementary and secondary students' positive experiences about science (PES). In-depth interviews with 32 students and 8 teachers from 8 elementary and secondary Science Core schools were conducted to explore the factors for improving the student's PES. The analysis of the results reveal that the eight key factors which had a decisive impact on a student's PES were 'practice-centered exploratory activities', 'student-led class', 'positive and professional feedback', 'construction of knowledge through exploration', 'class considering student's interest and aptitude', 'use of materials related to real life', 'smooth communication and collaboration in group activities', and 'appropriate difficulty in learning content'. There were also five environmental factors that affected these key factors: 'teacher's professionalism for science classes', 'science class environment', 'teacher community in unit schools', 'change in curriculum', and 'scientific activities other than regular classes'. Based on these results, the practical implications for improving the student's PES are suggested.
The focus of the study is to propose a long-term teaching and learning direction of one-person creative enterprise by college students in the field of the industry of Applied Music Contents. Critical review on literature and theories related to the recent trends of Applied Music industry and entrepreneurship education was conducted. The study introduced a macro level of four educational principles of Applied Music studies at a college such as: integrating Applied Music education with a viewpoint of humanities, fostering creative entrepreneur spirits of students in the field of Applied Music, applying new social media and technologies into teaching knowledge and skills of Applied Music, and finally developing students' authentic music expertise under cognitive apprenticeship(by a relationship of mentor-mentee) of Applied Music.

In this study, we investigated the characteristics of students participating in Science Core high schools classes and their relevance to Positive Experiences on Science (hereinafter, PES), and factors causing PES, presented by the students of Science Core high schools. A total of 20 students and five teachers in four regions across the country participated in the in-depth interview, which were conducted with the focus group of students first, and then in-depth interviews with teachers. Based on the interview results, we explored teaching and learning experiences helpful to the PES, assessment experiences resulting in the PES, and ways to support Science Core high schools to enhance their PES. Students and teachers of Science Core high schools argued that students' participation will increase only if they engage in classes while drawing attention within the range that students can understand, students' PES such as scientific interest can be improved through experiments in which students choose topics or design their own exploration process, science competencies such as science problem solving ability and scientific thinking ability should be developed through exploratory experiment activities that fit the nature of science, etc. In addition, regarding ways to improve and support Science Core high schools to enhance PES, securing science class hours, restructuring the contents of science elective courses, and necessity of maintaining Science Core high schools are suggested. Based on the research results of science high school students' PES, ways to improve the PES of general high school students are discussed.

In the 2015 revised curriculum, 'Integrated Science' was established to increase convergent thinking and designated as a common subject for all students to learn, regardless of career. In addition, the 2015 revised curriculum introduced 'competence' as a distinctive feature from the previous curriculum. In the 2015 revised curriculum, competencies are divided into core competencies of cross-curricular character and subject competencies based on academic knowledge and skills of the subject. The science curriculum contains five subject competencies: scientific thinking, scientific inquiry, scientific problem solving, scientific communication, scientific participation and life-long learning. However, the description of competencies in curriculum documents is insufficient, and experts' perceptions of competencies are not uniform. Therefore, this study examines the perceptions of science subjects in science high school teachers by deciding that comprehension of competencies should be preceded in order for competency-based education to be properly applied to school sites. First, we analyzed the relationship between achievement standards and subject competencies of integrated science through the operation of an expert working group with a high understanding of the integrated science achievement standards. Next, 31 high school science teachers examined the perception of the five subject competencies through a descriptive questionnaire. The semantic network analysis has been utilized to analyze the teachers' responses. The results of the analysis showed that the three curriculum competencies of scientific inquiry, scientific communication, scientific participation and life-long learning ability are similar to the definitions of teachers and curriculum documents, but in the case of scientific thinking and scientific problem solving, there are some gaps in perception and definition in curriculum documents. In addition, the results of the comprehensive analysis of teachers' perceptions on the five competencies show that the five curriculum competencies are more relevant than mutually exclusive or independent.

Textbooks are one of the most crucial variables that determine the quality of education and one of the most influential sources for education. Textbooks should be designed with inquiring tendencies so as to help students to practice self-directed learning. inquiring textbooks can not only intrigue students but also enhance the quality of class. Here, this author is going to analyze the inquiring tendencies of a core construct, 'management', in 12 different types of high school Technology & Home Economics textbooks reflecting the 2015 revised national curriculum based on the Romey method. According to the analysis results, only one type of textbook shows inquiring tendencies in the text, which means that the text is more oriented to delivering knowledge rather than to pursuing students' inquiry learning. Because analysis indexes for figures and diagrams fall under the range of desirable inquiring tendencies in 10 types of textbooks, the figures and diagrams presented in Home Economics textbooks are intended to induce particular learning activity. Learning activity indexes reveal 9 types of textbooks' inquiring tendencies, which means that Home Economics textbooks present a reasonable amount of learning activity in general in order to intrigue students and stimulate their inquiring mind. In terms of evaluation indexes, only 2 types of textbooks show inquiring tendencies. According to the results of examining each individual textbook, some of the Home Economics textbooks reflecting the 2015 revised national curriculum include inquiring elements in the text, figures and diagrams, activities, and evaluation all; however, some still need improvements. Regarding how to better the Home Economics textbooks, this researcher will suggest the following implications and complements. Home Economics textbooks should include inquiring elements to induce interactions properly in the class, and when they write the textbooks, the text, figures and diagrams, activities, and evaluation should be designed balancedly, and the questions need to be expressed in a way to develop students' inquiring mind.

The purpose of this study is to review the trends of education researches on the housing in Korea and Japan. It was based on the Journal of Korean Home Economics Education and Journal of the Japan Association of Home Economics Education. For the inquiry, 49 articles(20 from Korea and 29 from Japan) were collected from 1989 to 2006. The results of this study are as follows: First, the number of the articles of housing education was not quantitatively enough compared to the other fields in Korean and Japan. Second, regarding research fields, there were lots of articles about 'the perception of housing education' and 'teaching-learning method & teaching materials' in Korea. On the other hand in Japan, articles about 'teaching-learning method & teaching materials' and 'the evaluation of education' were major fields. Third, the major research topic was 'overall of the housing education' in Korea, while 'living space' in Japan. Fourth, the major data collecting method were questionnaire surveys and experiments, mostly targeting students and teachers from junior and high schools. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages and means were most often used for data analyses.

This research was conducted to analyze parents' attitudes on the issues related to the Smart Education Initiative Korea. The questions included the usefulness of major digital tools for educational purposes, knowledge on the Smart Education, necessity for better educational methods, and Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) policy. A total of 432 response cases from the parents were analyzed considering the parents' age, academic level, and income. As a result, parents regarded desktop PCs as more effective tools for learning when compared to tablet PCs. Meanwhile, mobile devices and SNSs were hardly considered as instructional tools. Second, familarity and understanding of the Smart Education were proportional to household income and mothers' education levels. Third, parents needed for the change in educational methods and agreed with the importance of students' self-regulated learning, collaboration, inquiry ability and creativity. Fourth, regarding BYOD, parents were willing to buy devices with a reasonable price. In conclusion, it is required to reflect the results of the study when implementing the Smart Education throughout the nation.
The local history research started from the 1960's postmodernism neted in the local history as the subject of diversity instead of National history. The local is being magnified as a new research theme among history scholar. In these circumstances, the local history research shows sign of activity and the movement that used in various ways at education has become more active. Compared to the contents business of local history, development of education contents what serviced for student is insufficient. Therefore, this research suggests development plan of local history education contents using archives which efficient tool of history education. Students can grow the ability of historical inquiry, thinking, insight through archives-assisted learning. Also, self-learning is possible instead of a lecture by teacher. This research shows a development of archival contents for local history education though literature research, abroad case analysis, focus group interview with history teachers. Concepts of the local history, local history education, education contents are examined at literature research. Local history education of the State Archives of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia web site is analyzed. These state archives have been providing the web based service of archival contents for local history education for a long time. With these theoretical background, carry out a focus group interview with middle school history teachers. It draw conclusion that 14 category and 35 subcategory and these are reflected in the development of archival contents for local history education.

This study aims to propose a plan to restructure libraries as a complex space for education and culture for 19 public libraries belonging to the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education. For the purpose of this, case surveys and user surveys of complex facilities of domestic and foreign public institutions were conducted. Based on the findings, a space restructuring strategy was suggested by dividing the library space into the following ways: a space to learn (a comprehensive data room, a theme data inquiry room, a future classroom, a blended learning center, a STEAM training room, and an online lecture learning room), a space to express (a foyer, a maker room, a digital media creation room and an online lecture production room), a space to share (a club room, a group study room, a well-being complex culture space, a convenient living space, rest area, and a browsing area), and a space to enjoy (a performance-thought playground, infant and child archives, a digital virtual experience room, a specialized alcove room, and an outdoor reading room). In addition, a restructuring model of public libraries belonging to the Office of Education was proposed, such as a leading model, a basic model, a joint model, and a minimum model, in consideration of the size of the building, the size of the library, and the level of service and space.

In this study, we examined the adaptive practices of science teachers in their classrooms and their perspectives on the distinguishing features of these practices within science subjects. Our analysis comprised 339 cases from 128 middle and high school science teachers nationwide, and 199 cases on the characteristics of adaptive practices in science disciplines. The primary findings were as follows: First, the most significant characteristic of adaptive practice in science disciplines pertained to experimental procedures. Within the 'suggestion of additional materials/activities' category, the most frequently cited adaptive practice, teachers incorporated demonstrations to either facilitate student comprehension or enhance motivation. Additionally, 'experimental equipment manipulation or presentation of inquiry skills' emerged as the second most common adaptive practice related to experiments. Notably, over 50% of teacher responses regarding the characteristics of adaptive practices in science pertained to experiment guidance. Second, many adaptive practices involving difficulties experienced by students in learning situations were presented, particularly in areas such as numeracy and literacy. Many cases were related to the basic ability of mathematics used as a tool in science learning and understanding scientific terms in Chinese characters. Third, beyond 'experiment guidance', the characteristic adaptive practices of science subjects were related to 'connections between scientific theory and the real world', 'misconception guidance in science', 'cultivation of scientific thinking', and 'convergence approaches'. Fourth, the cases of adaptive practice presented by the science teachers differed by school level and major; therefore, it is necessary to consider school level or major in future research related to adaptive practice. Fifth, most of the adaptive action items with a small number of cases were adaptive actions executed from a macroscopic perspective, so it is necessary to pay attention to related professionalism. Finally, based on the results of this study, the implications for science education were discussed.
