수생태계에 미치는 석산개발의 영향 - 생물군집과 입지유형을 중심으로 (Environmental Impacts of Stone Quarry Exploitation - Aquatic Macroinvertebrate Community and Quarry Locality)

  • Inorganic matters originated from stone quarries and manufacturing plants could alter the ecological characteristics of adjacent aquatic systems, especially the structure and function of benthic macroinvertebrate community. In such situation, the locality of stone quarry and the quantity of inorganic matters would be important factors that determined the disturbing strength to the benthic macroinvertebrate community. Locality patterns of stone quarries were classified into 3 types in relation to the stream ecosystem; stream-proximity, upstream-inclusion and tributary-inclusion type. In the result of species:abundance analysis, stone quarry B (upstream-inclusion type) showed geometric distribution, while others showed broken-stick distribution pattern. The benthic macroinvertebrate communities closer to stone quarries showed smaller species numbers and standing crops among all types of stone quarries. However the values of species evenness index were not seriously different between controls and directly affected sites. These results indicated that the effect of inorganic disturbance would differ from those of organic pollution that induced the highly dominant state occupied by tolerant species. Number of occurred species, standing crops, community indices and biotic indices indicated that the community of upstream-inclusion type was the most seriously damaged from the inorganic disturbance, and the community would be very simple and unstable. Tributary-inclusion stone quarry heavily damaged to tributary system in biologically, but influence to the main stream seemed to be depended on the scale of main stream. Among 3 types of stone quarry localities, stream-proximity type induced the least damages to benthic macroinvertebrate community, though the degrees of damage were different along with distances between stream and stone quarry.

고온 고압 스팀을 주입하는 SAGD 공정에서 FeOX 무기첨가제가 오일샌드 회수율에 미치는 영향 (Effect of FeOX Inorganic Additive in SAGD Process for Oil Sand Recovery)

  • 박층의 오일샌드에서 비투멘 성분 회수를 위한 steam assisted gravity drainage 공정에서 무기첨가제 도입에 따른 오일 회수율 특성을 평가하고자 실험실 규모의 모사장치를 이용하여 모사된 오일샌드에서 오일성분을 회수하는 실험을 수행하였다. 오일샌드 모사를 위해 비투멘과 성질이 유사한 초중질유와 직경 1.5 mm의 글래스비드를 사용하였다. 무기합성법을 통해 $FeO_X$를 제조하여 무기첨가제로 도입하였다. 그 결과 시간에 따른 스팀의 열전달 속도는 무기첨가제 도입에 따라 약 40% 증가하였으며, 회수율 또한 약 30% 증가하였다.

  • 층상 구조의 유기-무기 복합 소재 $Cu_2(OH)_3(CH_3COO){\cdot}H_2O$를 전구체로 사용하여 CuO를 합성하였다. 외부의 다른 유기화합물 주형이 없이 단순한 $Cu_2(OH)_3(CH_3COO){\cdot}H_2O$의 열분해 방법을 사용하였다 이 방법은 저렴한 가격으로 단일 결정의 CuO 입자를 양산하는 방법을 제공한다 응집된 CuO 입자의 형태는 전구체의 구조에 크게 영향을 받는다.

Implantable and Flexible GaN LED for Biomedical Applications

  • Inorganic III-V light emitting diodes (LEDs) have superior characteristics, such as long-term stability, high efficiency, and strong brightness compared to conventional incandescent lamps and OLED. However, due to the brittle property of bulk inorganic semiconductor materials, III-V LED limits its applications in the field of high performance flexible electronics. This seminar introduces the first flexible and implantable GaN LED on plastic substrates that is transferred from bulk GaN on Si substrates. The superb properties of the flexible GaN thin film in terms of its wide band gap and high efficiency enable the dramatic extension of not only consumer electronic applications but also the biosensing scale. The flexible white LEDs are demonstrated for the feasibility of using a white light source for future flexible BLU devices. Finally a water-resist and a biocompatible PTFE-coated flexible LED biosensor can detect PSA at a detection limit of 1 ng/mL. These results show that the nitride-based flexible LED can be used as a type of implantable LED biosensor and as a therapy tool.

A Route to Boron Nitride Via Simply Prepared Borazine Precursor

  • Borazine (B3N3H6) as an inorganic analogue of benzene was synthesized by reaction of cheap raw materials (NaBH4 and (NH4)2SO4), and by using simple glass reaction apparatus in a scale up to 20 g per run with highly improved yield over 50%. It appears that synthesis of borazine is competing with formation of poly(aminoborane) as an inorganic analogue of polyethylene. The synthesized borazine and its polymerized product were characterized by comparison with products obtained from a commercial one. Bulk pyrolysis of the borazine polymer to 1500 ℃ produced a pure boron nitride (BN) with 75% ceramic yield, which displayed good oxidation resistance under dry air.

  • The design of DNA nanostructures is of fundamental importance, the intrinsic value of DNA as a building-block material lies in its ability to organize other bio-molecules with nanometer-scale spacing. Here, we report the fabrication of DNA scaffolds with nano-pores (<10 nm size) that formed easily without the use of additives (i.e., avidin, biotin, polyamine, or inorganic materials) into large-scale structures by assembling DNA molecules at near room temperature ($30^{\circ}C$) and low pH (~5.5). Protein immobilization results also confirmed that a fibronectin (FN) proteins/large scale DNA scaffolds/aminopropylytriethoxysilane (APS)/SiO2/Si substrate with high sensitivity formed in a well-defined manner. The DNA scaffolds can be applied for use with DNA-based biochips, biophysics, and cell biology.

유/무기산 혼합용출제를 이용한 중금속(카드뮴,구리)오염토양 처리공법(soil washing/flushing) 개선에 대한 연구 (Improving Soil Washing/flushing Process using a Mixture of Organic/inorganic Extractant for Remediation of Cadmium (Cd) and Copper (Cu) Contaminated Soil)

  • 토양 세척/세정(soil washing/flushing)기법을 적용하여 카드뮴과 구리로 오염된 토양을 처리하기 위해 최적의 유기산 및 무기산 용출제 선정 실험을 batch 및 column test를 통하여 수행하였다. 널리 알려진 EDTA와 비교한 Citric acid는 저분자 유기산 용출제로 구리와 카드뮴의 제거효율이 EDTA를 제외한 다른 유기산 용출제에 비해 처리효율이 높았으며, 탄산은 독성이 가장 낮으면서 토양공극효과를 동시에 수반할 수 있는 무기산 용출제로 확인되었다. 최적의 유/무기산 혼합용출제는 citric acid와 탄산의 혼합 용출제였으며, 최적 농도비는 citric aicd:탄산 = 10:1이었다. 이때의 카드뮴과 구리의 제거효율은 각각 46%와 39%이였다. 탄산은 공극 막힘 현상을 완화시키는 역할으 하는 것으로 확인되었으며, 이는 EDTA + 탄산과 citric acid+탄산에서 용출제의 유량이 점차 증가하는 것을 확인하였따. 따라서, 유/무기산 혼합 용출제는 카드뮴 및 구리로 오염된 토양 처리를 위한 세정 복원기법의 실제현상 적용 시 발생하는 토양공극 막힘 연상을 개선시켜 줄 수 있다.

  • This presentation will focus on computational materials research carried out across length scales. Examples will be presented that illustrate the way in which state-of-the-art quantum mechanical calculations and atomistic simulations can be applied to explain experimental data, design new structures, determine mechanisms, and enable new investigations. In particular, the presentation will present key findings from an integrated experimental and computational investigation of the tribological properties of polytetrafluoroethylene and its composites and predictions regarding the mechanical and tribological properties of inorganic nanostructured materials.

방향족 탄화수소 할로겐 유도체의 광촉매-광산화 (Photocatalytic-Photooxidation of Halogen Derivatives of Phenols in Aqueous Solution)

  • Industrial waste which highly loaded by halogenide phenols was photooxidized by laboratory-scale photooxidation of these organic impurities in the presence of aerotropic and titaniumdioxide as photocatalyst. The disapperance of organic compounds was determined as a function of the irradiation time. Some contaminants such as 2-chlorophenol, 2-bromphenol, 3-bromphenol, 4-bromphenol, 2,4-dibromophenol and 2,6-dibromophenol were photodegraded separately to obtain information on the reaction rates, reactivities, and reaction mechanisms of the photooxidation, and on the stoichiometric correlation between organic reactant and inorganic products concentration in the course of the photocatalytic photoreaction.
