Effect of Green Transformational Leadership and Organizational Environmental Culture on Manufacturing Enterprise Low Carbon Innovation Performance

  • Previous studies stated that low carbon innovation performance could be influenced by government regulations and the green market, which is the new trend of consumer consumption in the present time, mainly focusing on external factors. Before study augured that low carbon innovation performance could be driven by internal and external factors of cooperation such as institutional pressure, stakeholder pressure, and innovation resources. However, the study of green transformational leadership and organizational environmental culture on low carbon innovation performance is rare, especially in Chinese manufacturing, as well as the effect of influencing factors of TPB model: environmental attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavior capability on low carbon innovation performance. Previous studies mostly used the TPB model for predicting individual behavior. This study established a theoretical model combining the TPB model with green transformational leadership and organizational environmental culture of Chinese automobile manufacturing on low carbon innovation performance. This study consists of two sections of research methodology: section 1 related to questionnaire design and data collection. We established a questionnaire and distributed it online, targeting responses from the managerial level working in Chinese automobile manufacturing. Eventually, 155 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. Section 2 involved data analysis using statistical software. Reliability and data validity was examined by reliability analysis and factor analysis. Correlations and convergent validity analyses were applied, and structural equation modeling was conducted to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicated that green transformational leadership, organizational environmental culture, and essential factors of TPB model; environmental attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavior capability positively affect low carbon innovation performance. In addition, the indirect effect of green transformational leadership was tested and found that organizational environmental culture and TPB factors mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and low carbon innovation performance.

혁신중개인이 기업의 흡수역량에 미치는 영향 : 혁신환경요인의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of Innovation Intermediaries on Firm's Absorptive Capacity : Focusing on Moderating Effect of Innovation Environmental Factors)

  • 본 연구는 사회적 자본의 관점에서 혁신중개인과 기업과의 관계가 흡수역량에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 분석한다. 그리고 기업의 혁신환경요인은 이 과정에서 직 간접적으로 흡수역량에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 연구한다. 이를 위해 국내 대표적인 혁신클러스터인 대덕연구개발특구 내 입주하고 있는 200여개 기업을 대상으로 실증분석을 수행함으로써 제시한 연구질문을 검증하고자 한다. 주요 연구결과는 기업이 활용하고 있는 혁신중개인의 관계와 혁신환경요인이 흡수역량과의 관계에서 전반적으로 유의한 정(+)의 효과가 있음을 보여준다. 세부적으로 혁신중개인의 관계 중에서 신뢰도 및 소통빈도는 흡수역량에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 반면에 지리적 근접성에 대해서는 유의하지 않은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 혁신중개인이 기업의 흡수역량에 미치는 영향에서 기업이 직면하고 있는 혁신환경요인은 정(+)의 조절역할을 하며, 하위차원에서는 사회적 요인이 뚜렷하고 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 사실을 조명하고 있다. 본 연구는 기업의 기술혁신과정에서 혁신중개인의 역할과 흡수역량의 선행요인으로서의 혁신중개인의 중요성과 더불어 혁신환경요인의 중요성 대한 이해에 기여한다.

혁신확산이론 관점에서의 Green SCM 도입 및 영향요인과 성과에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Influencing Factors, Practice Level, and Performanc of Green Supply Chain Management From the Innovation Diffusion Theory Perspective)

  • In this paper, we arrange the concept of 'Green' in SCM after literature study of Green SCM and investigate causal relationships between influencing factors, practice level and environmental performance focused on Korean firms empirically and conduct path analysis for hypothesis test using partial least squares regression with bootstrap. Firstly, we divide influencing factors of Green SCM into environmental and organizational factors through the previous studies of innovation diffusion theory and environmental management theory, and then we selected 'uncertainty', 'competitiveness' as the environmental factors and 'top management support', 'perceived benefit', 'training' as the organizational factors. Secondly, we classify practice level of Green SCM into 'internal environmental management', 'green purchasing', 'eco-design'. Finally, we selected 'financial performance', 'environmental performance' as the organizational performance. We conducted a survey on the middle manager of manufacturing companies implementing SCM and an empirical analysis. The results of analysis show that there exist causal relationships between influencing factors, practice level, and environmental performance of Green SCM. We expect that the result of this study will suggest useful information to managers who are responsible for SCM to design and execute Green SCM in strategic perspectives.

Discourse Analysis of Environmental Regulations and Technological Innovation for Corporate Competitiveness

  • Purpose - This article aims to explore the mechanism in which environmental regulations have positive effects on corporate competitiveness through technological innovation. This study also attempts to examine the relationship between environmental regulation and corporate competitiveness from a technological innovation perspective and explore a desirable relationship between those two. Research design, data, and methodology - Discourse analysis and SWOT analysis is used in terms of methodology, and this study is based on literature review theoretically. The methodology is employed in various ways to describe a variety of environmental issues. Result - The results support that technological innovation is able to play a role in coordinating relationship between environmental regulations and corporate competitiveness. The uncertainty and time lag problems innate to technological innovation function as disturbing factors for individual companies to actively increase R&D investment in response to environmental regulations. Environmental regulations may be considered to be working as a factor consolidating corporate competitiveness through technological innovation to respond to the environmental regulations including climate change issue. Conclusion - This study proposes that to achieve two goals of environmental protection and corporate competitiveness consolidation, policy support from various aspects is implied to be required. This implies that environmental regulations and technical innovation must be harmoniously balanced for future corporate success.

기술혁신지향성의 선행요인과 기술혁신성과에 미치는 영향: 국내 IT 중소기업 사례 (Antecedents of Technological Innovation Orientation and Its Impact on Technological Innovation Performance: A Case of Korean IT SMEs)

  • 기업의 생존력과 경쟁력을 위하여 기술혁신을 지속적이고 장기적으로 추구하고 추진하려는 기업의 전반적인 사고방향을 나타내는 기술혁신지향성의 중요성이 대두하고 있다. 기술혁신지향성이 기업의 지속적인 경쟁우위 확보에 개념적으로나 실무적으로 중요한 의미를 내포하고 있지만, 기업의 성공적인 기술혁신과 성과를 위한 기술혁신지향성의 역할에 대한 체계적인 연구는 현재까지 제한적으로 수행되어 왔다. 기술혁신지향성에 대한 기존 연구의 미비점을 인지하여, 본 연구에서는 기술혁신지향성에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 기업 내외부의 핵심적인 요인들을 선택하여, 선행요인들과 기술혁신지향성 및 기술혁신지향성 사이의 상황관계를 나타내는 연구모델과 가설들을 제안하고 이를 실증분석 하였다. 제안된 연구모델에서 선택된 기술혁신지향성의 선행요인들은 최고경영자의 기술기능 직무경력과 기능 간 상호통합(cross-functional integration)의 두 내부요인과 환경 불확실성과 경쟁강도의 두 외부요인을 포함하였고 이 요인들이 결과적으로 기술혁신지향성을 매개로 기업의 기술혁신성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 제시하였다. 또한 이 연구모델에서는 환경 불확실성과 경쟁강도의 두 환경요인이 기술혁신지향성과 기술혁신성과 사이의 관계를 긍정적으로 조절하는 효과를 갖는 것으로 제시하였다. 86개의 국내 IT중소기업을 대상으로 분석한 결과, 최고경영자의 기술기능 직무경력, 기능 간 상호통합, 그리고 환경 불확실성이 기업의 기술혁신지향성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 기술혁신지향성이 기업의 기술혁신성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 환경 불확실성은 기업의 기술혁신지향성과 기술혁신성과간의 관계를 긍정적으로 조절하는 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과가 제시하는 이론적, 실무적 시사점의 중요성에 대해서 논의하였다.

공급체인관리시스템 도입에 영향을 주는 요인 (Factors Affecting the Adoption of Supply Chain Management Systems)

  • This study examined the factors that make Korean companies adopt supply chain management systems. By adding a group of inter-organizational factors, we extended an innovation-theory-based research model to study the information technology adoption. Sixty three questionnaires from 700 leading companies in Korea were collected and analyzed. Independent variables of the research included environmental, organizational, innovation, and relational characteristics. We found that supply chain management systems in Korean companies are at the initial stage of the adoption, in general. This research also found that company's environmental characteristics have insignificant relationship with the adoption of supply chain management systems. In addition, organizational characteristics (the support of top management, the size of organization, and the information technology infrastructure), innovation characteristics of the supply chain, and the power exercised over the supply chain played important roles in adopting supply chain management systems.

  • Global waste has become a global issue and we can see the new trend of discovery businesses established to focus on solving the waste problem using new renewable energy technology and the circular economy business model. This paper aims to study factors that impact green entrepreneurship in Thailand, such as environmental concern, organizational environment, founder demographics, education background, entrepreneurship awareness, as well as external factors of a business. The study analyzes the data from three qualitative in-depth interviews with green entrepreneur founders who started the businesses in polymer up-cycling, waste management, and renewable energy. The study finds overseas educational background to be one of the key main drivers for the entrepreneurial courage to decide to pursue a new business venture. By having the exposure toward the different culture, three entrepreneurs hands-on experiential learning through three key drivers who are composed of the can-do attitude, the willingness to be self-employed, and the way of seeking for the freedom to express their passions.

  • 본 연구는 '기업의 환경요인을 통한 기술혁신이 Smart Factory 구축에 미치는 영향'에 대한 실증연구이다. 연구 목적은 Smart Factory를 구축할 때 내부환경이나 중점적으로 추진할 요인을 고려하고 구축하여 Smart Factory의 활용도와 효과를 높이는 것이다. 연구방법은 Smart Factory를 구축한 기업의 관련 인원들에게 설문을 조사하여 SMART PLS로 통계분석 하였다. 연구결과는, 기업 내부 조직 요인과 자기효능감은 기술혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고, 기술혁신은 Smart Factory 구축의 핵심요인에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 그리고 조절변수인 흡수역량은 기술혁신요인과 상호작용으로 Smart Factory 구축의 핵심요인에 부분적으로 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 Smart Factory를 구축하려는 기업이 활용할 수 있으며, 실증분석을 통한 Smart Factory 구축연구에 이론적 토대를 마련한 의의가 있다.

외부지식탐색이 기업의 혁신 성과에 미치는 영향: 지식 보호와 환경 불확실성의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The effect of external knowledge search on innovation performance: the moderating effect of knowledge protection and environment uncertainty)

  • External knowledge search is critical to expand the firm's knowledge base, increasing the innovation performance. However, prior literature has paid less scholarly attention on the boundary condition of the search activity. In particular, the few literatures on the contingency factors are either conceptual or focus on the firm characteristics such as resources and capability. In this regard, this study argues the negative moderating effect of knowledge protection and environmental uncertainty of a firm on the positive relationship between external knowledge search and innovation performance, because these contingency factors hamper the reciprocity and the mutual trust between the firm and its external partner that provides knowledge needed in the innovation process. The empirical analysis is based on the sample drawn from Korean Innovation Survey, provided by STEPI in Korea. The sample consists of 1,637 respondent firms that experienced product innovation during the survey period. We could find statistically supporting results for the negative moderating effect on the positive relationship between external knowledge search and innovation performance. This study extends the academic debate on the boundary conditions of external knowledge search and provides managerial implications for successful product innovation.
