Molar Incisor Hypomineralization(MIH) have recently gained intensive research interests and various clinical trials. Most prevalence, etiology, treatment studies in MIH were carried out in the European countries, and data from the Korean were seldom. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of MIH and the status of dental caries and treatment on the first permanent molars in primary school children. For this study, 1,344 primary school students in Busan and Ulsan cities were examined directly the permanent incisors and first molars. The results of the survey were as follows: 81 MIH cases were identified among 1,344 cases. The prevalence of MIH in this group of children was 6.0%. Children with MIH showed a significantly higher DMFT value for permanent teeth than children without MIH. The mean number of decayed, missed, and filled in 1st permanent molars(DMFT index) was 1.17. The rate of children with restoration on 1st permanent molar was 13.6% and the sequence of restoration materials was as follows : composite resin, amalgam, gold inlay.
To investigate the effect of resin cement, which had been known to increase the adhesive capacity of the cast gold inlay, on the gingival marginal fit and whether the tin-planting of the beveled area affects the marginal fit, Class II cast gold inlays were made on the 25 sound molars. Control group(ZPC goup) was cemented with the ZPC by conventional method. Experimental groups were cemented with the resin cement(Super-hond & $Panavia_{EX}$) and subdivided further by the existence or nonexistence of the tin-plating of the beveled area(ST & PT groups: with plating, SNT & PNT groups: without plating). So, each group was consisted of 5 teeth and the gingival margin of each specimen was mesiodistally sectioned by 3 times and the marginal and internal gap were evaluated by the Stereo Microscope (${\times}180$) and the Scanning Electron Micrascope(${\times}5,000$) was used for examining the adhesive relationship of the resin cement to the cavity wall and to the cast gold surface. The results were as follows : 1. Marginal gap was less than internal gap in all groups. 2. ZPC and SNT(bevel without tin-plating) groups showed the least gap and gap in PNT(bevel without tin-plating) group, ST(bevel with tin-plating) group, PT(bevel with tin-plating) group showed the greater value in order in evaluation of the both internal gap and marginal gap. 3. With the exception of the relationships between ZPC and SNT groups, ST and PNT groups, relationships between any other groups showed the statistical significance in the internal gap(p<0.05). 4. In the marginal gap, all relationships between groups showed the statistical significance (p<0.05) except the relationships between ZPC and SNT groups, ST and PNT groups, ZPC and PNT groups. 5. ZPC group showed more soluble phenamena than the resin groups(ST, SNT, PT, PNT). 6. Resin cement showed the void spaces in spite of good penetration into the micro-irregularities on both the tooth surface and the cast surface. The void was shown more in PT and PNT groups than in the ST and SNT groups. 7. After the treatment of heat and desiccation for SEM specimen, resin cements were detached more easily from the tooth surface than from the cast surface.
The purpose of this study was to examine the clear concept of the designs for cavity preparations. Among the several parameters in cavity designs, profound understanding of isthmus width factor would facilitate selection of the appropriate cavity preparation for a specific clinical situation. In this study, the cavities were prepared on maxillary first premolar and filled with gold inaly. A two - dimensional model was composed of 1037 - node triangle elements. In this model, isthmus was varied in width at 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 of intercuspal width and material properties were given for four element groups, i.e., enamel, dentin, pulp and gold. The 500N occlusal load varied in direction and it was examined using three types of load : concentrated load, divided load and distributed load. The models were also examined with empty cavities using the devided load and distributed load. These models were analyzed the displacement and strees distribution by the two - dimensional Finite Element Method. The results were as follows : 1. All experimental models which filled with gold inlay after cavity preparation were similar direction of displacement with control model under same load type. But in the models with empty cavities, as isthmus width was wider, the degree of displacement was increased at same load type. 2. Among the experimental models which were filled with gold inaly after cavity preparation, the model II showed the least stress concentration under concentrated load and divided load. But in the models with empty cavities, the model III showed the largest stress concentration and tooth fracture is expected regardless isthmus width. 3. All experimental models showed similar displacement pattern beneath restorative material under a concentrated load. In the models with empty cavities, a divided load resulted in a lingual displacement of the lingual cusp, but a distributed load resulted in a buccal displacement of the lingual cusp. In regard to the above results, the restored models were stronger than empty models in respect to the bending moment and tensile stress. The empty models are expected to fracture regardless isthmus width. The safest isthmus width was 1/3 of intercuspal distance, which showed the least stress concentration in respect to the effect of stress distribution.

The passive UHF RFID tags for item-level tagging are now explosively used in the supply chain and retail applications as they have several advantages, the two most relevant are cost and a longer read range. However, the signal interference problem between RFID tags and smart devices in real world is expected according to the smart-phone and tablet market growth together. The performance of RFID tags can be significantly less. The popular examples are the read-success rates and read range reduction. Especially, KT Corp. recently emphasized the serious signal interference at 900 MHz of LTE and old RFID frequencies through their public demonstration. By popular demands, this paper suggests the interference tolerance measurement method between the passive UHF RFID tag and the transmitted signal from a smart device. In addition, we selected three passive UHF RFID tags(Inlay) available on the market and quantitatively evaluated read range reduction results by interference signals using the PCR(Performance Change Rates) index. As a result, the LTE system is about three times as effective as the WCDMA system in terms of interference effects, and the read range performance of two RFID tags about 60 % drop.
The purpose of this study was to observe the color matching of lining or filling materials according to the remaining tooth material. Twenty-seven freshly extracted human central incisors were used in this experiments. The teeth were stored in saline solution at room temperature after extraction. All teeth were cut parallel to the tangent to height of contour on labial surface from the lingual surface until the pulp were completely removed. Then 27 teeth were devided into 0.5mm, 1.0mm and 1.5mm reduction groups according to the thickness of cutting the lingual surfaces of teeth. The specimens of control group were three teeth of 27 teeth with cutting the lingual surface same mode as above described. In the specimens of experimental groups, 8 kinds of lining and filling materials; FUJI IONOMER TYPE II (G-C Co. Japan), LINING CEMENT (G-C Co. Japan), Dycal (Caulk, U.S.A.), CLEARFIL F II (Kuraray Co. Japan), Crown Bridge & Inlay Cement (G-C Co. Japan), Copalite (Harry J. Bosworth Co. U.S.A.), HY-BOND (G-C Co. Japan) and LIV-CENERA (G-C Co. Japan); applied on the back of 24 teeth with 0.5mm, 1.0mm and 1.5mm cut thickness of lingual surfaces. Three teeth of control group did not applied linging or filling materials on the back of 3 kinds of different thickness of cutting the lingual surfaces. The absorbances of total 27 specimens were obtained by reflection spectrophotometer. (Cary 17 D, Varian Co, U.S.A.) The following conclusions were drawn from above the results; 1. The absorbance patterns in both experiment and control groups were gradually decreased with increasing wavelength of spectra. 2. The absorbance patterns were not decreased in relation to the kinds of lining or filling materials, but the amount of the remaining tooth materials. 3. In 0.5mm reduction group, FUJI IONOMER TYPE II, LINING CEMENT, LIV-CENERA and Copalite applied on the back of cut lingual surface showed similar absorbance patterns as control group. 4. The specimens which were reduced up to 1.0mm thickness and lined with FUJI IONOMER TYPE II and LINING CEMENT showed the comparable absorbance patterns to the control group. 5. In case of HY-BOND application after 1.5mm reduction were observed the similar absorbance pattern as compared with control group. 6. When Dycal, CLEARFIL and Crown Bridge & Inlay Cement were applied to cut teeth surfaces, there were much differences of absorbance between control groups and experimental groups.
The author conducted a dental survey of college girl students and compared with that of college students 20 years and 10 years ago which based on the same criteria. The items of this survey included the prevalence of dental caries, DMFT and the kinds of restored materials. College girl students 2,294 were examined in May 1988, with the recommended criteria and method of W.H.O.. Among them, the data of 2,243 were analyzed and compared with the data of 1968 and 1978. The following results were obtained : 1. The average number of present teeth was $28.86{\pm}1.65$, which does not show much difference when compared to $29.00{\pm}1.94$ of 1968 and $28.97{\pm}1.64$ of 1978. 2. The prevalence of dental caries was 86.22%, which increased in comparison to 83.25% of 1968 and 84.92% of 1978. 3. DMF index was 19.98, which considerably increased in comparison to 14.56 of 1968 and 15.51 of 1978. 4. The number of DMFT was $5.75{\pm}5.04$ per student. Compared to $4.23{\pm}3.88$ of 1968 and $4.49{\pm}3.69$ of 1978, there is a considerable increase. I) The average number of decayed(D) teeth was $1.14{\pm}1.63$, which decreased from $1.16{\pm}1.57$ of 1968 and $2.09{\pm}2.16$ of 1978. II) The average number of missing(M) teeth was $0.23{\pm}0.73$, which also decreased from $0.69{\pm}1.11$ of 1968 and $0.32{\pm}0.79$ of 1978. III) The average number of filled(F) teeth was $4.39{\pm}4.91$, which increased from $2.38{\pm}3.33$ of 1968 and $2.09{\pm}3.17$ of 1978. 5. According to the analysis of filling material, filling baby including amalgam, gold inlay, resin, silicate cement and paladium inlay was 90.5%, which increased in comparison to 72.8% of 1968 and 83.6% of 1978. Among them, amalgam occupied 62.93%, which showed the most increase. On the other hand, crown and bridge was 6.5%, 3.0%, respectively, which showed continuous decrease from 12.1%, 15.1% of 1968 and 8.7%, 7.7% of 1978. Therefore, the prosthodontic treatment reduced due to the decrease of tooth extraction. In contrast, there is continuous increase of conservative treatment which maintaining natural tooth.
This article complies a survey on the replacement of the posterior restorations and accesses possible factors that influence the replacement of posterior restorations. The data was collected from patients that visited department of conservative dentistry from Dec 1st 2003, to Sep 3rd 2004. Teeth was restricted to posterior permanent teeth. 9 dentists recorded age, gender of patients, tooth location, cavity farm and restorative material. They rated marginal adaptation, anatomic form, secondary caries of old restoration by modified Ryge criteria system. The statistical analysis was performed with Chi square test (p < 0.05) for replacement ratio according to patients, tooth factor and One way ANOVA was performed for comparison of old restoration according to restorative material. The results were as follows; 1. The female (62%) was statistically higher ratio than the male (38%). 2. The distribution of replacement case according to age, the rate of replacement was in descending order, 20's (38.3%), 40's (16.8%), 30's (15.9%), 10's (11.1%), 50's (9.2%), 60's (8.7%). 3. The rate of replacement was 88% for molar and 12% for premolar (p $gt; 0.05). 4. The rate of replacement was 39% for maxillar and 61% for mandible (p $gt; 0.05). 5. The material of restorations was amalgam (69%), gold inlay (17%), composite resin (13%). 6. In rating system by modified Ryge criteria system on margin adaptation, there was statistically significant difference between amalgam and gold inlay. But on anatomic form and caries, there was no statistically significant difference among the material of restorations.
This study analyzed the influence of dental adhesive/primer on the bond strength between indirect resin composite and the resin cement. Seventy disc specimens of indirect resin composite (Tescera Dentin, Bisco) were fabricated. And bonding area of all specimens were sandblasted and silane treated for one minute. The resin cements were used with or without application of adhesive/primer to bonding area of indirect resin restoration, Variolink-II (Ivoclar-Vivadent) : Exite DSC, Panavia-F (Kuraray) : ED-Primer, RelyX Unicorn (3M ESPE) Single- Bond, Duolink (Risco) : One-step, Mulitlink (Ivoclar-Vivadent) : Multilinh Primer. Shear bond strength was measured by Instron universal testing machine. Adhesive application improved shear bond strength (p<0.05) But Variolink II and Panavia-F showed no statistically significant difference according to the adhesive application. With the above results, when resin inlay is luted by resin cement it seems that application of dental adhesive/primer is necessary in order to improve the bond strength.

The aim of this study was to measure the cusp deflection during composite restoration for MOD cavity in premolar and to examine the influence of cavity dimension, C-factor and restoration method on the cusp deflection. Thirty extracted maxillary premolar were prepared to four different sizes of MOD cavity and divided into six groups. The width and depth of the cavity were as follows. Group 1; $1.5{\;}{\times}{\;}1{\;}mm$, Group 2; $1.5{\;}{\times}{\;}2{\;}mm$, Group 3; $3{\;}{\times}{\;}1{\;}mm$, and Group 4-6; $3{\;}{\times}{\;}2{\;}mm$ respectively. Group 1-4 were restored using bulk filling method with Z-250 composite. However, Group 5 was restored incrementally, and Group 6 was restored with an indirect resin inlay. The cusp deflection was recorded at the buccal and lingual cusp tips using LVDT probe for 10,000 seconds. The measured cusp deflections were compared between groups, and the relationship between the cube of the length of cavity wall/the cube of the thickness of cavity wall ($L^3/T^3$). C-factor and cusp deflection or % flexure ($100{\;}{\times}$ cuspal deflection / cavity width) was analyzed. The cusp deflection of Group 1-4 were $12.1{\;}\mu\textrm{m},{\;}17.2{\;}\mu\textrm{m},{\;}16.2{\;}\mu\textrm{m}{\;}and{\;}26.4{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ respectively. The C-factor was related to the % flexure rather than the cusp deflection. There was a strong positive correlationship between the $L^3/T^3$ and the cusp deflection. The cusp deflection of Group 5 and 6 were $17.4{\;}\mu\textrm{m}{\;}and{\;}17.9{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ respectively, which are much lower value than that of Group 4.
In order to investigate the diverse physicochemical changes that occurred in traditional Korean pottery during its production, including before and after firing, this study produced six replicas of a celadon maebyeong inlaid with cloud-and-crane designs, respectively corresponding to the process of shaping, carving, inlaying designs, first firing, glazing and second firing, respectively. It then conducted a scientific study of these six replicas and analyzed their images through high-resolution three-dimensional transmission imaging. The materials used for the replicas show different mineral phases and even colors depending on the components of each material. For example, black inlay with a high content of iron oxide (Fe2O3) shows dark colors and white inlay with a high alumina (Al2O3) content appears white. Physicochemical properties such as chromaticity and magnetic susceptibility and major components of the replicas were confirmed by the differences in the density in the computed tomography (CT) images. The characteristics of fired products such as fine structure, absorption ratio, apparent porosity, and other characteristics of the major mineral components were identified by the presence of pores and the formation of cracks inside the replicas in the image analysis.
