3중분사가 HSDI 디젤엔진의 성능과 배기에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Triple Injection on Engine Performance and Emissions in a HSDI Diesel Engine)

  • The effects of triple (pilot, main and after) injection on combustion and emission characteristics in a HSDI (High-Speed Direct Injection) diesel engine were investigated using a single-cylinder optical diesel engine equipped with a common-rail injection system. The pilot injection affected the spray and combustion evolution of the following main injection. It was found that the pilot injection reduced the ignition delay, which led to lowered NOx (Nitric Oxides) level, and increased IMEP (Indicated Mean Effective Pressure) due to slow combustion pace during an expansion stroke. The after-injection was shown to be effective in reducing PM (Particulate Matter) even when a small amount of fuel was added. The results suggest that a proper combination of individual injection strategy could bring about a good synergetic effect on engine performance and emission.

  • Multidimensional simulation has been carried out to be clear the role of initial combustion in a marine diesel engines on reduction of NOx and soot emissions by different pilot injection condition. Pilot injection can shorten the ignition delay, thus it reduces the premixed combustion phase. Since most NOx is formed during premixed combustion, pilot injections is one of reliable strategies to reduce the NOx. The formation of NOx consists of that formed by pilot injection and that formed by main injection. The result explains that 25-3-75 among the pilot injection conditions is effective to reduce the NOx, due to optimal combination pilot injection with main injection. The purpose of this study is to explain the characteristics of combustion with pilot injection of the marine diesel engine on reduction of exhaust emissions by examining the combustion process in a cylinder and to explore the formation mechanism of NOx between pilot injection and main injection.

  • Ignition delay of second injection of HSDI diesel engine was usually much shorter than that of first injection. It is due to the interaction between radicals generated during the combustion process, and mixed gas of second injection. In this paper, To analyze combustion phenomena of multiple injection mode in HSDI diesel engine effectively, two-dimensional flamelet combustion model was modified. To reduce calculation time, two-dimensional flamelet equations were only applied near stoichiometric region. If this region was ignited, species and temperature of other region were changed to the steady-state solutions of one dimensional flamelet equations. By this method calculation time for solving flamelet equations was reduced to 20 percents, thought the results were almost same. Modified flamelet combustion model was coupled to commercial CFD code interactively using user subroutine.

고압분사 경유-물 혼합연료의 연소특성 (A Study on Combustion Characteristics of Diesel-water Emulsion with High Pressure Injection)

  • Combustion characteristics on diesel-water emulsion are analyzed in high pressure injection for several variables such as water content, injection pressure and injection timing. As a fact of well-known, maximum combustion pressure was decreased and ignition delay was elongated in accordance with increasing of water content. But these characteristics were enhanced with increase of injection pressure to high pressure. It was shown that combustion of neat diesel in case of injecting with 600bar is similar to that of 20 % diesel-water emulsion was injected at 1200 bar.

  • The simplified dynamic models of the timer assembly in the diesel engine fuel injection system were developed. The first order system with time delay was assumed and the various parameters in this model were obtained by experimental data. These simplified dynamic models were used for the development of control algorithm of the injection timing control system. The PI control algorithm was modified to include the anti-windup property and disturbance compensation. This modified PI control algorithm was used for the control of the injection timing. Improved control accuracy and reduced control efforts were observed.

  • Recently, alternative fuels are drawing more attentions due to the increasing need for lower emission characteristics and fuel consumption rate in automotive engines. The GTL(gas to luquid) is the one of most favored candidates. It has higher cetane number(more than 75) and almost negligible sulphur and aromatic contents. Therefore, enhanced emission characteristics are expected even in the application in diesel engines without any modification. In this study, the cylinder pressure and heat release, emission characteristics with fuel injection timings are compared between diesel and GTL fuel in the single cylinder diesel engine. Noticeable reduction in PM, THC and CO emission are observed due to lower sulphur and aromatic contents in GTL. Also, the ignition delay decreased due to higher cetane number of GTL, which slightly decreased the amount of NOx emissions. With the retards of main injection timing, NOx decreases more for the case of GTL, while the level of THC and CO emissions still remains lower than the case of diesel. Therefore, there is much room for the control of injection timing for NOx reduction without sacrificing THC and CO emissions. With the retards of main injection timing, Small size distribution of PM became lager and there amount increased. But from all conditions, size distribution of PM for the case GTL was lower than Diesel.

가스사출성형인자가 가스사출성형품의 중공부 형성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Processing Variables on the Gas Penetrated Part of Gas-Assisted Injection Molding)

  • Gas-assisted injection molding (GAIM) process is reducing the injection pressure during mold filling required as well as the shrinkage and warpage of the part and cycle time. Despite of these advantages, this process introduces new parameters and makes the application more difficult because the process interacts between gas and melt during injection molding process. Important GAIM factors that involved in this process include gas penetration design, locations of gas injection points, shot size, gas injection delay time as well as common injection molding parameters, gas pressure and gas injection time. In this study, the experiments were conducted to investigate effects of GAIM process variables on the gas penetration for PP and ABS moldings by changing gas injection point. Taguchi method was used fer the design of experiment. When the gas was injected at cavity's center, the most effective factor was shot size. When the gas was injected at cavity's end, the most effective factor was melt temperature. Injection speed was also an effective factor in GAIM process.

  • 렌즈 그리고 DVD 등과 같은 성형품들은 우수한 광학적 특성을 필요로 한다. 일반사출성형 공정은 캐비티 내에 압력이 높고 큰 온도변화를 포함하게 되어 성형품에 큰 잔류응력이 남아 광학적 품질이 저하된다. 따라서 이와 같은 제품들은 성형 시 잔류응력을 최소화하기 위해 캐비티 내의 압력을 낮게 그리고 균일하게 조절할 수 있는 사출압축성형 공정을 사용하는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 실험을 통하여 사출압축 성형품에 영향을 주는 성형인자를 분석하였다. 다수 캐비티 금형을 이용하여 캐비티 간 품질편차도 고찰하였다. 실험에 사용한 재료는 투명수지인 PC와 PS이었다. 사출압축성형의 실험에서 공정변수로는 압축거리, 압축속도, 압축력 그리고 압축지연시간을 이용하였다. 실험결과, 사출압축성형 공정 변수 중 압축력과 압축지연시간 그리고 압축거리가 광학적 특성에 크게 영향을 미쳤으며 그 정도는 수지에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 사출압축성형 시 수지마다 유동성에 따라 최적의 성형조건이 있음을 의미하는 것이다.

  • 초음속 주 유동내 연료의 수직분사에 의한 비정상 반응 유동장에 대한 3차원 수치해석이 DES 난류 모델과 상세 화학반응 모델을 이용하여 수행되었다. 난류 반응 유동의 물리적 현상을 이해하기 위하여 해석 및 실험 결과를 비교하였다. 계산에 의해 구해진 OH 분포는 실험의 OH-PLIF 결과를 잘 모사하고 있다. 반면, 점화 지연 시간은 계산과 실험 사이에 차이를 보이고 있으며, 이는 실험적 계측의 한계에 기인하는 것으로 생각된다.

공동 내부로의 평행분사방법을 이용한 초음속 연소의 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Supersonic Combustion with Parallel Fuel Injection Method in the Cavity)

  • The supersonic combustion experiments are carried out using T3 free-piston shock tunnel. Hydrogen Fuel is injected in the cavity parallel with air(or nitrogen) flow. The equivalence ratios in this study are 0.132 and 0.447. Experimental measurements use OH-PLIF near the cavity and pressures in the combustor. For parallel fuel injection case, direct fuel add into cavity leads to increase of cavity pressure. And Flame exists just near the bottom wall for low equivalent ratio. There is no flame in the cavity because of no mixing in it. Compared to the inclined fuel injection, ignition delay length is longer for low equivalence ratio in both case. OH distribution is not a single line but a repeatable fluctuation flame structure by turbulence. Pressure distributions have nothing to do with the fuel injection position.
