The stabilization characteristics of diffusion flame formed behind a bluff body with fuel injection slits was experimentally investigated by varying main fuel injection angles and auxiliary fuel injection conditions. The flame stability limits, temperature and length of recirculation zone, direct and schlieren photographs of flames were measured in order to study the stabilization mechanism of the diffusion flame. The results of this investigation are as follows. The stability limits can be improved by the condition of the kind and quanity of the injected auxiliary fuel. The length and temperature decrease with injection of auxiliary fuel, and these phenomena are remarkable when LPG is injected into the recirculation zone. When the LPG is injected into the recirculation zone, flame remains sooty. Fluctuation of fuel and main stream is generated actively by air injection.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the injection performance of crack repair method in concrete structure. To improve the quality of the concrete structure caulking material was injected into the crack of building that were planned to be demolished and injection properties of various repair method were compared and assessed according to type of crack. Results from the test showed that when cracks and injection port were integrated and the injection port wasn't blocked repair material was able to be injected even below around 40㎏/㎠ pressure. Moreover, effective pressure each type of packer showed wide range varying from 200-400㎏/㎠. As for drill method for injection port, core drill method has shown to be more effective compared to the air pump method
Computational study is performed to understand the fluidic thrust vectoring control of an axisymmetric nozzle, in which secondary gas injection is made in the divergent section of the nozzle. The nozzle has a design Mach number of 2.0, and the operation pressure ratio is varied to obtain the different flow features in the nozzle flow. The injection flow rate is varied by means of the injection port pressure. Test conditions are in the range of the nozzle pressure ratio from 3.0 to 8.26 and the injection pressure ratio from 0 to 1.0. The present computational results show that, for a given nozzle pressure ratio, an increase of the injection pressure ratio produces increased thrust vector angle, but decreases the thrust efficiency.

The characteristics of diesel spray have effect on the engine Performance such as power. fuel consumption and emissions. Therefore, This study was Performed to investigate the effect of various injection parameters. In this study. the experiment is performed by using the high temperature and high pressure chamber. Spray behaviors are visualized by using the high speed camera and spray angle. Penetration etc. are measured. Experimental results are summarized as follows ; 1) Correlations of spray Penetration is expressed as follows $$0$$t_b 2) Correlations of spray Angle is expressed as follows $$T_a=293K \;;\; tan({\theta}/2)=0.59({\rho}_a/{\rho}_f)^{0.437}$$$$T_a=473K\;;\; tan({\theta}/2)=0.588({\rho}_a/{\rho}_f)^{0.404}$$ 3) The measured macro characteristics - spray tip penetration and spray angle agreed well with established correlations.
The initial film flow development of the high-pressure swirl spray was investigated at different injector operating conditions to analyze film flow development and to provide the input data for the modeling works. This result can be also useful to verify the previously simulated results. The initial flow conditions such as liquid film thickness, flow angle and flow divergence are obtained by visualizing the inside and near the nozzle flow with a microscopic imaging system. The visualized images are quantified using an image processing tool. From the information of liquid film thickness and flow angle, the initial axial and tangential velocity and the swirl number of the swirl spray are successfully determined at various operating conditions. The experimental results showed that the initial liquid film thickness, flow angle and flow divergence are remained constant when the injection pressure is increased. However, initial film conditions are severely changed when the fuel temperature is increased. The swirl number remained constant when the injection pressure is increased while it showed increased value at high fuel temperature condition.
High pressure LPG fuel spray with a conventional swirl injector was visualized and the impact of the injection pressure was also investigated using a DISI (direct injection spark ignition) LPG single cylinder engine. Engine performance and emission characteristics were evaluated over three different injection pressure and engine loads at an engine speed of 1500 rpm. The fuel spray pattern appeared to notably have longer penetration length and narrower spray angle than those of gasoline due to its lower angular momentum and rapid vaporization. Fuel injection pressure did not affect combustion behaviors but for high injection pressure and low load condition ($P_{inj}$=120 bar and 2 bar IMEP), which was expected weak flow field configuration and low pressure inside the cylinder. In terms of nano particle formation the positions of peak values in particle size distributions were not also changed regardless of the injection pressure, and its number densities were dramatically reduced compared to those of gasoline.
Recently, Performance and fuel efficiency of gasoline engines have been improved by adopting direct injection (DI) system instead of port fuel injection (PFI) system. However, injecting gasoline fuel directly into the cylinder significantly reduces the time available for mixing and evaporation. Consequently, particulate matters(PM) emissions increase. Moreover, as the emission regulations are getting more stringent, not only the mass but also the total number of PM should be reduced to satisfy the Euro VI regulations. Increasing the fuel injection pressure is one of the methods to meet this challenge. In this study, the effects of increased fuel injection pressures on combustion and emission characteristics were experimentally examined at several part load conditions in a 1.6 liter commercial gasoline direct injection engine. The main combustion durations decreased about $2{\sim}3^{\circ}$ in crank angle base by increasing the fuel injection pressure due to enhanced air-fuel mixing characteristics. The exhaust emissions and number concentration distributions of PM with particle sizes were also compared. Due to enhanced combustion characteristics, THC emissions decreased, whereas NOx emissions increased. Also, the number concentrations of PM, larger than 10 nm, also significantly decreased.

As a fundamental study to apply high pressure injection system to direct injection diesel engine, fuel injection system and constant volume combustion chamber were made and the behaviors of evaporating spray with the variation of injection pressure and the ambient gas temperature were observed by using high speed camera, and the combusion characteristics with the variation of injection pressure and A/F ratio were analyzed. As injection pressure increases, spray tip penetration and spray angle increase and, as a results spray volume increases. This helps an uniform mixing of fuel and air. Spray liquid core length decreases as ambient gas temperature increases, while it decreases as injection pressure increases but the effect of ambient gas temperature is dorminant. As injection pressure increases, ignition delay is shortened and combustion rate being raised, maximum heat release rate increases. It become clear that High injection pressure has high level of potential to improve the performance of DI-diesel engine.

This research is carried out for the performance evaluation of the injector that is one of the critical components of bipropellant-rocket-engine. Spray characteristics are investigated in detail according to the recess length and injection pressure on the swirl-coaxial-injector using gaseous methane and liquid oxygen as propellants. A visualization is conducted by the Schlieren photography that is composed of a light source, concave mirrors, knife, and high-speed-camera. A hollow-cone-shape is identified in the liquid spray that is spread only by inner injector and the spray angle is decreased due to the diminution of swirl strength in accordance with the increase of the length of injector orifice. When the injector sprays the liquid through the inner injector with the aid of gas through the outer injector, the spray angle in external mixing region tends to increase with rise of the recess length, while in internal mixing region, it is decreased. It is also confirmed that the same tendency of the spray angle with recess length appears irrespective of the injection pressure of liquid spray.

This study was carried out to investigate the injection characteristics of 800 kPa compressed natural gas compressed natural gas (CNG) injector developed in Korea. The CNG injector with multi-holes, employed in this experiment, was designed to inject CNG in the manifold at high pressure of 800 kPa. The spray macroscopic visualization test was carried out via Schlieren photography to study fuel-air mixing process. The fundamental spray characteristics, such as spray penetration, spray cone angle and spray velocity, were evaluated in the constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) with varying the constant back pressure in CVCC from 0 to 1.8 bar. For the safety reason, nitrogen ($N_2$) and an acetone tracer were utilized as a surrogate gas fuel instead of CNG. The surrogate gas fuel pressures were controlled at 3, 5.5, and 8 bar, respectively. Injection durations were set at 5 ms throughout the experiment. The simulating events of the low engine speed were arranged at 1,000 rpm. The spray images were recorded by using a high-speed camera with a frame rate of 10,000 f/s at $512{\times}256pixels$. The spray characteristics were analyzed by using the image processing (Matlab). The results showed the significant difference that higher injection pressure had more effect on the spray shape than the lower injection pressure. When the injection pressure was increased, the longer spray penetration occurred. Moreover, the linear relation between speed and time are dependent on the injection pressure as well.
