The remediation efficiency for a large scale petroleum-contaminated site was evaluated by using the Engineered Land-farming system which was consists of the following parameters; moisture & nutrient injector data, blower system, HDPE sheet and sump system. To enhance the degradation ability in the early stage, main nutrients such as nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) were adjusted for the site condition. As a result of the periodic tilling process, the concentration of contaminated soil was decreased to 348 mg/kg, which was lower than 500 mg/kg (regal standards) while satisfying remediation Efficiency of 82% (the maximum concentration of 1,893 mg/kg). The appropriate temperature range for an active operation was investigated between $28.9{\sim}35.6^{\circ}C$. For the contaminated soils having different initial concentration, the TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) concentration was decreased evenly along with the CFU (Colony Forming Unit), moisture content and contaminant concentration after 38days of gratifying the legal standards of under 500 mg/kg.

Eco-friendly and renewable energy sources are actively being researched in recent times, and of shore wind power generation requires advanced design technologies in terms of increasing the capacities of wind turbines and enlarging wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs). The WTIV ensures that the hull is situated at a height that is not affected by waves. The most important part of the WTIV is the leg structure, which must respond dynamically according to the wave, current, and wind loads. In particular, the wave load is composed of irregular waves, and it is important to know the exact dynamic response. The dynamic response analysis uses a single degree of freedom (SDOF) method, which is a simplified approach, but it is limited owing to the consideration of random waves. Therefore, in industrial practice, the time-domain analysis of random waves is based on the multi degree of freedom (MDOF) method. Although the MDOF method provides high-precision results, its data convergence is sensitive and difficult to apply owing to design complexity. Therefore, a dynamic amplification factor (DAF) estimation formula is developed in this study to express the dynamic response characteristics of random waves through time-domain analysis based on different variables. It is confirmed that the calculation time can be shortened and accuracy enhanced compared to existing MDOF methods. The developed formula will be used in the initial design of WTIVs and similar structures.
In order to monitor nuclear activity in inaccessible areas, it is necessary to establish a methodology to analyze changesin nuclear activity-related objects using high-resolution satellite images. However, traditional object detection and change detection techniques using satellite images have difficulties in applying detection results to various fields because effects of seasons and weather at the time of image acquisition. Therefore, in this paper, an object of interest was detected in a satellite image using a deep learning model, and object changes in the satellite image were analyzed based on object detection results. An initial training of the deep learning model was performed using an open dataset for object detection, and additional training dataset for the region of interest were generated and applied to transfer learning. After detecting objects by multitemporal and multisensory satellite images, we tried to detect changes in objects in the images by using them. In the experiments, it was confirmed that the object detection results of various satellite images can be directly used for change detection for nuclear activity-related monitoring in inaccessible areas.

Sidewalks are facilities used for the safe and comfortable passage of pedestrians and are paved with blocks of various materials. Currently, Korea does not have a quantitative survey method for the pavement condition of sidewalks, so it is necessary to develop an efficient survey method. Drones are being used as an efficient survey tool in various fields, but there are limited studies in which sidewalks have been investigated. This study investigates the possibility of detection by limiting the missing sidewalk blocks using a drone. This study is an initial study on the development of a method for detecting damage in sidewalk blocks. For this, sidewalk blocks were artificially removed to simulate a dropout situation, and images were acquired with 0.7-cm resolution using a drone. As a characteristic of the point cloud data acquired through image pre-processing, there was high variance of the elevation of the points in the missing area of the sidewalk block. Using these characteristics, an experiment was conducted to detect the missing parts of the sidewalk block by applying four thresholds to the variance of the elevation of points included in the grid corresponding to the sidewalk area. As a result, the detection accuracy was shown with a positive detection ratio of 70-80%, omission errors of 20-30%, and commission errors lower than 2%. It is judged that the possibility of detecting missing sidewalk blocks is high. This study focused on detecting a simulated missing sidewalk block in a limited environment. Therefore, it is expected that an efficient and quantitative method of detecting damaged sidewalk blocks can be developed in the future through additional research with considerations of the actual environment.

This study was undertaken to develop a cascade-type continuous culture system (CCCS) that combines both ICT and biotechnology (BT), for the mass production of microalgae. This system is capable of maintaining the essential culture conditions of pH, temperature, carbon dioxide, and illuminance control, which are key parameters for the growth of microalgae, and is economical for producing microalgae regardless of the season or location. It has the added advantage of providing stable and high productivity. In the current study, this system was applied to culture microalgae for 71 days, with subsequent analysis of the experimental data. The initial O.D. of the culture measured from incubator 1 was 0.006. On the 71st day of culture, the O.D.s obtained were 0.399 (incubator 1), 0.961 (incubator 2), 0.795 (incubator 3), and 0.438 (incubator 4), thereby confirming the establishment of continuous culture. Thus, we present a smart-farm based on ISMC (in-situ monitoring and control) for a mass culture method. We believe that this developed technology is suitable for commercialization, and has the potential to be applied to hydroponics-based cultivation of microalgae and cultivation of high-value-added medicinal plants as well as other plants used in functional foods, cosmetics, and medical materials.
This study reviews theoretical considerations and past studies about real estate prices, macroeconomic variables, and real estate policies. Monthly data from January 2003 to June 2021 are used, and a VEC model, the most widely used multivariate time series analysis method, is employed for analysis. Through the model, the effects of macroeconomic variables and real estate regulatory policies on real estate prices in Seoul are analyzed. Findings are summarized as follows. First, macroeconomic variables such as money supply and interest rates do not have a significant impact on Seoul's apartment prices. Due to the high demand for housing and insufficient supply, there is a demand for buying a home regardless of macroeconomic booms or recessions. Second, tax and financial regulatory policies have an initial impact on the rise in apartment prices in Seoul, and their influence diminishes over time. Third, anti-speculation zones are expected to decrease apartment prices through the suppression of demand. However, these zones cause a rise in apartment prices. This could be understood as a lock-in effect due to the strengthening of capital gains tax. Fourth, the price ceiling did not decrease apartment prices. These findings propose that, in Seoul, where demand is high and supply is insufficient, the supply of high-quality and sufficient housing should be prioritized over various regulations such as tax regulations, financial regulations, anti-speculation zones, and price caps. Moreover, the findings provide an implication that city-specific real estate policies should be implemented for Seoul rather than regulation-oriented approaches in public policy.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to confirm the detection rate of transperineal biopsy after multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and compared it to that of transrectal biopsy. We also examined the role of mpMRI and the rate of complications for each method. Materials and Methods: In a retrospective study, we analyzed 147 patients who underwent mpMRI before prostate biopsy because of elevated serum prostate-specific antigen and/or abnormal digital rectal examination findings at Korea University Hospital, Seoul, Korea from March 2017 to April 2018. Regions on the mpMRI that were suggestive of prostate cancer were categorized according to the Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS v2). For transperineal biopsy, a 20-core saturation biopsy was performed by MRI-TRUS cognitive or fusion techniques and a 12-core biopsy was performed in transrectal biopsy. Results: Sixty-three and 84 patients were enrolled in transperineal group and transrectal group, respectively. The overall detection rate of prostate cancer in transperineal group was 27% higher than that in transrectal group. Classification according to PI-RADS score revealed a significant increase in detection rate in all patients, as the PI-RADS score increased. Frequency of complications using the Clavien-Dindo classifications revealed no significant differences in the total complications rate, but two patients in transrectal group received intensive care unit care due to urosepsis. Conclusions: Our results confirmed that transperineal biopsy is superior to transrectal biopsy for the detection of prostate cancer. From the complication point of view, this study confirmed that there were fewer severe complications in transperineal biopsy.

Changes in total nitrogen (T.N.) and total phosphate (T.P.) content in environmental waste water upon the reaction of biological purifying reagents were measured and the reaction rate was evaluated. The purification capacity of two biological purifying reagents composed of vegetable Lactobacillus fermentum (V.L.F.), Saccharomyces cerevisiae(S.C), and Bacillus subtilis(B.S.) were evaluated and compared with that of commercial water purification system operating by local government. After 18days of reaction, the mixture of V.L.F. and S.C. showed dramatic decrease of T.N.(36.21% of the initial value). The mixture of V.L.F., S.C., and B.S. showed faster reaction rate to decrease T.P. compared with that of the mixture of V.L.F. and S.C. The reaction constant of mixture of V.L.F. and S.C. was estimated to be 0.178 $day^{-1}$ by the curve fitting of the data of changes in T.N. during the reaction.
The consumption of beverages among children is rising. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of kid's drink on dental resin-based pit and fissure sealant. Pororo, I-kicker, Sunkist kids were included in the experimental groups, and Samdasu was included in the control group. A conventional dental sealant material ($Clinpro^{TM}Sealant^{(R)}$) was selected for this study. Resin specimens (8 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness) were prepared according to manufacturers' instructions and the initial roughness (Ra) was then measured. The pH of all the four groups was measured using a pH meter. The specimens were individually immersed in 5 ml of the experimental solutions and stored at $37^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours. Following this, the surface roughness of the resin specimens was measured by Surftest. The concentration of residual monomer released was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The surface morphology of the resin specimen was evaluated before and after storage by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data were statistically analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Duncan's test. The results showed that all the children's beverages examined in this study contained citric acid. The pH of I-kicker was the lowest ($3.03{\pm}0.01$), followed by that of Sunkist kids ($3.26{\pm}0.02$) and Pororo ($3.47{\pm}0.02$). We observed an increase in the surface roughness of resin specimens after 72 h of immersion in all the beverages tested (p<0.05). There was matrix degradation after immersion, visualized on SEM image, in all the beverage groups. Bisphenol-A-glycidyl methacrylate was not detected after 72 hours, but triethylene glycol dimethacrylate levels were increased in all the beverages tested during the 72 hours by HPLC. These results suggest that intake of beverages containing acid can cause degradation of the resin-based pit and fissure sealants in children.

This retrospective study investigates the accuracy of triage procedures for pediatric patients in emergency departments (EDs) using the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS). The study includes 250 randomly selected initial nursing records and clinical outcomes of pediatric patients who visited one regional ED or a local ED from October 2016 to September 2017. The collected data were analyzed by a qualified expert to determine the true triage score. The accuracy of triage was defined as the agreement between the triage score of the emergency nurses (ENs) and the true triage score as determined by the expert. Based on expert comments, the cause of the triage error was analyzed and the KTAS score was compared with the discharge, length of stay (LOS), and medical cost. The results showed that the degree of agreement in the triage score between the experts and the ENs was excellent (weighted kappa=0.77). Among the causes of triage discordance, the most frequent was the incorrect application of vital signs to the KTAS algorithm criteria (n=13). Patients with high severity KTAS levels 1 and 2 were discharged less often (${\chi}=43.25$, p<0.001). There were significant differences in the length of stay (F=12.39, p<0.001) and cost (F=11.78, p<0.001) between KTAS scores when adjusting for age. The results of this study indicate that KTAS is highly accurate in EDs. Hence, the newly developed triage tool is becoming well established in Korea.
