  • The permeability of converter slag, replacing material of sand mat on improving soft clay foundation, was evaluated in the laboratory. The effects of grain size, flow water time and aging were investigated using sea and fresh water. Converter slag being submerged with fresh water, the coefficients of permeability in A and B samples less than 10mm grain sizes were measured as 6.52${\times}$10$\^$-2/cm/sec and 5.99${\times}$10$\^$-1/cm/sec, while changed as 1.88${\times}$10$\^$-2/cm/sec, 3.86${\times}$10$\^$-1/cm/sec under sea water condition. Also, the condition of turbulent flow may exit and was experimentally identified from the relationship between hydraulic gradient and seepage velocity. After 180 days on using sea water, the coefficients of permeability of sample A and B samples decreased ten times smaller than those initial values. And after that time continually decreased as for till 360 days. The reduction of permeability coefficient was considered to influence filled with voids in high-calcium quicklime(CaO). However, in-situ coefficient of permeability was practically satisfactory.

  • Nondestructive evaluation for mechanical degradation of ultrasuper-critical (USC) heat-resistance steel, which is attractive to the next generation of power plants is studied by magnetic reversible permeability. The interrelationship between reversible permeability and high-temperature mechanical degradation has been investigated by precise measurement of permeability nondestructively. Also, the effects of microstructural variation on reversible permeability are discussed. Isothermal aging was observed to coarsen the tempered carbides ($Cr_{23}C_6$), generated the intermetallic phases ($Fe_2W$), and grow rapidly during aging. The dislocation density also decreases steeply within lath interior. The peak to peak interval (PPI) of reversible permeability profile decreased drastically during the initial 500 h aging period, and was thereafter observed to decrease only slightly. The variation in PPI is closely related to the decrease in the number of pinning sites and the degradation in tensile strength.

  • In this research, the processing control of NiCuZn Ferrite (NCZF) had been studied. NiCuZn Ferrite, which calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 bours, was ball milled for about 60 hours to ill김ke a size of $0.5\mu\;extrm{m}$ followed by granulation using spray dryer Apparent densincatioo rate and initial permeability of NiCuZn Ferrite with an initial packing density had been investigated as f follows. 1.The relative packing density of NCZF green body increas$\xi$d in the range of 48.6-56.8% with an increased forming pressure of 20-170 MPa. 2. The higher the relative pac퍼ng density of NCZF and the sintering temperature are, the higher the initial densification rate. The increased bulk rlcnsity of NCZF was attributed to the densification rate with decreased open pore and increased closed pore as the relative packing density, sintering temperature, and sinteriog tim$\xi$ increased. 3. The initial P permeability of NCZF with constant composition is logarithmically proportional to the bulk density of NCZF sintered at $875~925^{\circ}C$ for 0-5h, and strongly depended on the relative packing density of NCZF green body. The empirical equation is as f follows; log $\mu$i=$G1{\times}BD$+$G2{\times}RPD$+b(0);where, G1, G2; gradient, B.D: bulk density, RPD; relative packing density, b(0); intercept.

  • The Ni-Zn synthetic ferrite were acquired from thermally decomposing the metal nitrates Fe(NO$_3$)$_3$.$9H_2$O, Zn($NO_3$)$_2$.$6H_2$O, Ni($NO_3$)$_2$. $6H_2$O, and Cu($NO_3$)$_2$. $3H_2$O at $150^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and was calcined at $500^{\circ}C$. Each of those was pulverized for 3, 6, 9, and 12 hours in a steel ball mill and was sintered between $700^{\circ}C$ and $1,000^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour, and then their microstructures and electromagnetic properties were examined. We could make the initial specimens chemically bonded in liquid at the temperature as low as $150^{\circ}C$, by using the melting points less than $200^{\circ}C$ of the metal nitrates instead of the mechanical ball milling, then narrowed a distance between the particles into a molecular level, and thus lowed sintering temperature by at least $200^{\circ}C$ to$ 300^{\circ}C$. Their initial permeability was 50 to 400 and their saturation magnetic induction density and coercive force 2,400 G and 0.3 Oe to 0.5 Oe each, which were similar to those of Ni- Zn ferrite synthesized in the conventional process. In the graph of initial permeability vs frequencies, we could observe a $180^{\circ}C$rotation of the magnetic domain, which appears in a broad band of microwave near the resonance frequency.

  • We investigated the skin permeability and various biological activities of porcine homogenate of placenta (HP) with the highest protein contents (452.89 ${\mu}g/mg$). The content of protein in subcritical extract of HP (SPE) was decreased from the initial content of 452.9 ${\mu}g/mg$ to 262.7 ${\mu}g/mg$ at 3 h subcritical extract. The contents of amino type nitrogen (A-N) were sharply increased from 35.1 ${\mu}g/mg$ of initial content to 305.9 ${\mu}g/mg$ at 3 h subcritical extract. The HP showed a noticeable activity in terms of antioxidant capacity for ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay and especially for 2,2'-Azinobis- (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) method. HP, SPE-0.5, SPE-2 and SPE-3 showed inhibitory effect on elastase activities with an $IC_{50}$ of 46.1, 42.9, 31.6 and 34.7 ${\mu}g/mL$, respectively. SPEs showed more significantly inhibitory effect than HP (p<0.05). The skin permeability of the SPEs was higher than that of the HP. SPE-3 showed highest skin permeation and the permeability was significantly higher than that of HP. SPE-2 also showed significantly higher permeation than HP after 4 h. As expected, increase of extraction time significantly increased skin permeability in the subcritical extract of HP (SPE). From these results, in terms of cost and source availability, porcine placenta extracted with subcritical extraction has advantages over untreated PE and have potential as a cosmetic ingredient.

  • The properties of ferrite bead, a low-pass filter, are determined by the frequency dispersion of the complex permeability. In this study, frequency dispersion of complex permeability of the Ni-Zn ferrites with different Ni/Zn ratio were investigated. Relationship between the behavior of filter and dispersion of complex permeability of a ferrite was studied. As a result, it was concluded that the compositions for Ni/Zn ratio of $0.41{\sim}0.47$, having high initial permeability and good sensitivity, were favorable as a ferrite bead filter.

  • NCZF ferrites doped with B-Bi-Zn(35-25-40) glass ceramics were prepared to investigate the magnetic properties. The XRD peaks of all of samples were observed only spinel phase. As the additive increased at sintering temperature 750$^{\circ}C$ and 850$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours, the density and shrinkage of the samples increased until 5.28 g/cm$^3$ and 20% respectively. And other samples showed constant trends having the density about 5.4g/cm$^3$. According to SEM images the growth of grain progressed rapidly at sintering temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. Increasing the additive initial permeability and complex permeability decreased. The high values of complex permeability as a function of frequency showed that NCZF doped with 3 wt%, 5wt%, samples at sintered temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$/3h and 900$^{\circ}C$/3h.

  • In this paper, we have studied the effect of earth (Gd, Er) on the various properties (microstructure, shrinkage, initial permeability, permeability as a function of frequency, etc) of Ba-ferrite. The permeabilities were analyzed by Impedance Analyzer(100KHz~40MHz) and Network Analyzer(30KHz~3㎓). As the result of XRD, all of the Ba-ferrite doped with rat earth was found to be Y-hexagonal phase. The resonance frequencies at the maximum imaginary value of complex permeability were observed near 2㎓. The complex permeabilities of the Ba-ferrite doped with Gd$_2$O$_3$at 3wt% and doped with Er$_2$O$_3$at 3wt% and 5wt% as a function of frequency showed the highest value at sintered temperature at 95$0^{\circ}C$/3h.

  • In order to characterize the permeability of small unilamellar vesicles (SUV), efflux of 6-carboxyfluorescein (6-CF) from the vesicles was monitored spectrophotofluorometrically. Since the entrapped highly quenched 6-CF (200 mM) became fluorescent upon release from the vesicles, the 6-CF could be used as an efflux probe. SUV containing entrapped 6-CF was prepared from egg phosphatidylcholine and separated by gel filtration on Sepharose 4B. Observed change of relative fluorescent intensity with time was sigmoidal. From this curve, the parameter of permeability was determined either by half-time or a released amount per unit time from the initial slope. Half-time of efflux of prepared SUV having 302 ng phospholipid/ml in 10 mM Tris-HCl buffer pH 7.4 was 21.0 min at $37{\circ}C$. Various factors which could affect the half-time were examined including temperature, pH, salt, and vesicle concentration. In particular the effect of vesicle concentration on the efflux revealed that the permeability can be a function of the concentration.
