Electric vehicles (EVs) have been growing to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the transportation sector. The increasing number of EVs requires adequate recharging infrastructure, and at the same time, adopts low- or zero-emission electricity production because the GHG emissions are highly dependent on primary sources of electricity production. Although previous research has studied solar photovoltaic (PV) -integrated EV charging stations, it is challenging to optimize spatial areas between where the charging stations are required and where the renewable energy sources (i.e., solar photovoltaic (PV)) are accessible. Therefore, the primary objective of this research is to support decisions of siting EV charging stations using a spatial data clustering method integrated with Geographic Information System (GIS). This research explores spatial relationships of PV power outputs (i.e., supply) and traffic flow (i.e., demand) and tests a community in the state of Indiana, USA for optimal sitting of EV charging stations. Under the assumption that EV charging stations should be placed where the potential electricity production and traffic flow are high to match supply and demand, this research identified three areas for installing EV charging stations powered by rooftop PV in the study area. The proposed strategies will drive the transition of existing energy infrastructure into decentralized power systems. This research will ultimately contribute to enhancing economic efficiency and environmental sustainability by enabling significant reductions in electricity distribution loss and GHG emissions driven by transportation energy.

Due to the rapid evolution of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), effective communication and security are now essential components in providing secure and reliable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. However, due to their dynamic nature and potential threats, VANETs need to have strong security mechanisms. This paper presents a novel approach to improve VANET security by combining the Vehicular Delay-Tolerant Network (VDTN) protocol with the Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) technique known as the Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) algorithm. A store-carry-forward method is used by the VDTN protocol to resolve the problems caused by inconsistent connectivity and disturbances in VANETs. The TD3 algorithm is employed for capturing and detecting Worm Hole Attack (WHA) behaviors in VANETs, thereby enhancing security measures. By combining these components, it is possible to create trustworthy and effective communication channels as well as successfully detect and stop rushing attacks inside the VANET. Extensive evaluations and simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, enhancing both security and communication efficiency.

In this paper, we consider an infrastructure-vehicle-vehicle (I2V2V) based Vehicle Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), where one base station multicasts data to d vehicular users with the assistance of r vehicular users. A Distributed Luby Transform (DLT) codes based transmission scheme is proposed over lossy VANETs to reduce transmission latency. Furthermore, focusing on the degree distribution of DLT codes, a Modified Deconvolved Soliton Distribution (MDSD) is designed to further reduce the transmission latency and improve the transmission reliability. We investigate the network behavior of the transmission scheme with MDSD, called MDLT based scheme. Closed-form expressions of the transmission latency of the proposed schemes are derived. Performance simulation results show that DLT based scheme can reduce transmission latency significantly compared with traditional Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) and Luby Transform (LT) codes based schemes. In contrast to DLT based scheme, the MDLT based scheme can further reduce transmission latency and improve FER performance substantially, when both the source-to-relay and relay-to-sink channels are erasure channels.
Lane detection technology is one of the most important issues on car safety and self-driving capability of autonomous vehicle. This paper introduces an accurate lane detection scheme based on OCC(Optical Camera Communication) for moving vehicles. For lane detection of moving vehicles, the streetlights and the front camera of the vehicle were used for a transmitter and a receiver, respectively. Based on the angle information of multiple streetlights in a captured image, the distance from sidewalk can be calculated using non-linear regression analysis. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme shows robust performance of accurate lane detection.
차량이 IGW(Internet Gateway)를 통해 외부 인터넷 망과 통신하는 V2I(Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) 환경에서는 IGW가 DHCP 서버로서의 역할을 수행함으로써 차량에게 IP 주소를 부여해준다.
VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc Network)은 차량 간의 무선통신(Vehicule to Vehicule: V2V) 또는 차량과 RSE(Road Side Equipment)간의 무선통신(Vehicule to Infrastructure: V2I)을 이용하는 기술이다.
