  • In this paper, we propose a hash-chain based friendly force identification protocol for personal combatants equipped with a personal combat system in a tactical wireless network. It is imperative in military operations to effectively and quickly identify friendly forces. If the identification of friendly forces is not correct, this can cause friendly fire. In current ground operations, the identification of friendly forces by personal combatants is neither secure nor safe. To address this issue, the proposed protocol uses a hash-chain to determine if a detected person is friendly. Only friendly forces with the same materials that are assigned before they deploy can construct an initial hash-chain. Moreover, the hash-chain is changed at specific times. The performance of the proposed protocol is evaluated on the assumption that the secret key is leaked, which is the worst scenario in the security research field. We verify that the proposed protocol is secure for the various attack scenarios, such as message replay attack, fabrication attack, and Denial of Service attack.

  • In the centralized cloud controlled environment, the decision-making and monitoring play crucial role where in the host controller (HC) manages the resources across hosts in data center (DC). HC does virtual machine (VM) and physical hosts management. The VM management includes VM creation, monitoring, and migration. If HC down, the services hosted by various hosts in DC can't be accessed outside the DC. Decentralized VM management avoids centralized failure by considering one of the hosts from DC as HC that helps in maintaining DC in running state. Each host in DC has many VM's with the threshold limit beyond which it can't provide service. To maintain threshold, the host's in DC does VM migration across various hosts. The data in migration is in the form of plaintext, the intruder can analyze packet movement and can control hosts traffic. The incorporation of security mechanism on hosts in DC helps protecting data in migration. This paper discusses an approach for dynamic HC selection, VM selection and secure VM migration over cloud environment.

  • Data sharing is an essential process for collaborative works particularly in the banking, finance and healthcare industries. These industries require many collaborative works with their internal and external parties such as branches, clients, and service providers. When data are shared among collaborators, security and privacy concerns becoming crucial issues and cannot be avoided. Privacy is an important issue that is frequently discussed during the development of collaborative systems. It is closely related with the security issues because each of them can affect the other. The tradeoff between privacy and security is an interesting topic that we are going to address in this paper. In view of the practical problems in the existing approaches, we propose a collaborative framework which can be used to facilitate concurrent operations, single point failure problem, and overcome constraints for two-party computation. Two secure computation protocols will be discussed to demonstrate our collaborative framework.

  • Since the intranet is a combination of open internet technologies and private information systems, various technologies for information security are essentially needed. On recent, a lot of firewall systems are being constructed to be secure the informations from external networks such as Internet in many private companies. Even though internal attacks are more frequently happened than external ones in the intranet environments, there are quite few researches on secure intranet and the internal threats are underestimated so far. In this paper, we study the security threats for each service in the intranet and propose the security models appropriate to the intranet environments by using several cryptographic tools and protocols. Furthermore, we implement the proposed security models in Java applications through computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a 'secure node' to be robust against network-based DoS attacks. The secure node selectively accepts new sessions based on the Zipf's law while a link is in the overload state. Our scheme calculates a threshold value for overload state, and provides a dynamic service mechanism for enhancing availability of a web server. The simulation results show performance improvement of the proposed scheme in terms of completion/connection ratios.

  • As the Distributed Denial of Service attack technique is getting smarter, defense method have been developed by various means. Existing defense method baseds on detection technique is not effective to DDoS attack. Because it depend on rule set that is used to detect attack and DDoS attack pattern has become very similar to real traffic pattern. So the rule set is not efficient method to find DDoS attack. To solve this problem, DDoS defense mechanism based on QoS technique has been suggested. In this paper, we summarize existing DDoS defense mechanism and focus on method based on QoS, and introduce a new DDoS defense framework.

  • One of the fastest-growing mobile services accessible today is mobile payments. For the safety of this service, the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology is used. However, NFC standard protocol has prioritized transmission rate over authentication feature due to the proximity of communicated devices. Unfortunately, an adversary can exploit this vulnerability with an antenna that can eavesdrop or alter the exchanged messages between NFC-enabled devices. Many researchers have proposed authentication methods for NFC connections to mitigate this challenge. However, the security and privacy of payment transactions remain insufficient. We offer a privacy-preserving, anonymity-based, safe, and efficient authentication protocol to protect users from tracking and replay attacks to guarantee secure transactions. To improve transaction security and, more importantly, to make our protocol lightweight while ensuring privacy, the proposed protocol employs a secure offline session key generation mechanism. Formal security verification is performed to assess the proposed protocol's security strength. When comparing the performance of current protocols, the suggested protocol outperforms the others.

  • Recently, as the service scale of cloud service is expanded, an anxiety due to concerns on new vulnerabilities and security related incidents and accidents are also increasing. This paper proposes a certification scheme for multiple session management of security sessions which are generated after the user authentication. The proposed session multiplexing scheme enables the independent management of security sessions in the level of virtualization (hypervisor) within the service provider. As a result of performance analysis, providing a strong safety due to session multiplexing and mutual authentication, and the superiority of performance was proven by comparing it with the existing mutual authentication encryption algorithms.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the status of specialized services and the overall satisfaction of the operation of the specialized services for the librarians and users of the specialized libraries, and based on the ISA method, compare the specialized theme data, specialized service place, specialized program, specialized theme area facilities and environment, and derive issues of the specialized library operation and improvement measures. Consequently, first, when developing the program, the specialized library needs to develop programs in possession of unique characteristics specific to the areas of the differentiated themes from the cultural and educational programs run by the existing libraries. Second, it is necessary to focus on the specialized theme area information services for the users, and to this end, it is necessary to improve librarians 'professionalism. Third, it is necessary to secure the budget for the specialized services and secure space. Since the scope of the services which may be provided as per the budget intended for providing specialized services may be limited, it would be necessary to secure and operate the budget systematic to this end. Fourth, the specialized library needs to proceed with activities in connection with local residents for the purposes of facilitating specialized services.

  • Recently, RFID system is a main technology to realize ubiquitous computing environments. Because RFID system that is an automatic identification technology using radio frequency is a system to read and write the data of the entity. Therefore, many companies are interested in RFID system to reduce supply chain management and inventory control cost. However, for providing secure service, RFID authentication technology secure against tracking by an adversary is researched first. In this paper, we proposed security level based RFID authentication protocol providing reduce computational and communicational workload in the back-end database. The proposed protocol is secure against reply attack, spoofing attack, traffic analysis, and location privacy, since the proposed protocol based on the security of the hash function.
