  • This paper suggested a way to solve the problems by using domain experts who are already in the significant level of knowledge in those fields. For the purpose of achieving our goal, a very simple and efficient approach to construct the knowledge-base which can play an important role in providing researchers with essential information in need was proposed. In addition, the Adaptive R&D Information Service Portal with a new schema structure and a construction method of representing expert's knowledge efficiently was developed. With the simplicity and expandability of the proposed system it can be a good model for a similar system to be developed.

  • This study is for empirical verification of the influence of the introduction of smart phone on using the portal sites that were affected the most in the previous media environment. To achieve this, Web traffic data that are the result of smart phone users' practical Web uses have collected longitudinally and analyzed. The research results are the following: First, the use hours of portal sites have decreased about 15% and the page views have did about 35%, since using smart phones was diffused and habituated in earnest during the past two years. Using the community, news media, video, mobile, and game section of portal site sections have reduced. Second, the portal site portion of using smart phone Web is much more than that portion of using PC Web. More than two thirds of smart phone Web use traffic occurs in using portal sites, while more than one third of PC Web use traffic does in using that. Using the news media section is the most of using portal site sections on a smart phone. Third, since the introduction of smart phone, using the news media, communication, and life section of portal site sections have greatly increased, while the community, mobile, and game section have greatly decreased in the aggregate.

  • In this paper, we propose ways how portal site POI(Point-of-Interest) contents by analyzing the effect of portal site POI contents attributes on favorability, satisfaction, and visit intention, and to propose a strategic marketing plan using portal site POI contents in restaurants. In this study, a survey was conducted on 300 people who had experience using portal site POI contents. Through prior research, the portal site POI contents attributes were classified into accuracy, authority, aesthetics, and currency. To verify the research hypothesis, single regression analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted to confirm the relationship between variables. To summarize the core research results, first, the portal site POI contents attribute showed a positive relationship with favorability. Second, it was found that the portal site POI contents attribute had a positive relationship with satisfaction. Third, it was found that favorability had an effect on satisfaction. Fourth, it was found that favorability had an effect on the visit intention. Fifth, satisfaction was found to have an effect on the visit intention. Based on the analysis results, in order to induce customer visits in restaurants, it is necessary to make good use of portal site POI contents to increase user favorability and to allow users to visit stores.

  • Ecological and ecosystem database is becoming very necessary to understand origins and relationship between human and nature and also to minimize disturbance caused by human activities. An ecological information portal can play important roles as a computing system to collect knowledge, distributed research findings and separated data from researchers. In this study, we designed and developed ecological information portal service (EcoBank 1.0) for collecting and providing ecological information for diverse classes of stakeholders. To reach the goal, we had reviewed related and comparable ecological database portals to design conceptual structure of EcoBank system including database management framework. Then, we developed some functions of ecosystem analysis for each stake-holders (researchers, general public and policy makers). As a result of this study, we successfully designed of EcoBank system covering the functions of Digital Object Identifier(DOI) publishing and data quality management process. Also, we (1) applied ecological indices for calculating biodiversity by administrative boundary for policy makers, (2) provided statistical information of econature map for general public and distribution characteristics of species for researchers. To make a successful establishment of EcoBank, we have to collect and build up related database and offer various and reliable ecological data consistently. We expect that the successful construction of EcoBank will help not only to accomplish sustainable development goals but also to raise the welfare of ecosystem in Korea.

  • This research has investigated the cyber university students' awareness of the portal service of the digital library. In order to identify characteristics of the cyber university students, the research examined demographic characteristics of the students and library usage status. Awareness on the portal service was also analyzed in accordance with the characteristics of the users. The analysis showed that the most needed service was concise/full search service, which was the most frequently used service. The students were most satisfied with the liaison service; service awareness of several libraries showed statistically significant results depending on age, occupation. Based on the analysis, the research proposed the following measures to increase the use of the digital library of cyber university students: active PR on library service, and intensifying the library user education.

  • Since the players in online games seek fun, emotional aspects may be important factors in the pleasure-oriented information systems. This study attempted to verify the effects of characteristic factors of games (fun, challenge, compensation, and diversity) on emotion and customer satisfaction in game portal sites. The study established the research model on the foundation of precedent researches related to online games, emotion, and customer satisfaction. The study conducted online and offline survey on individuals with experiences in using online game portal sites. 206 samples were used to test the research hypotheses. By using Structural Equation Modeling, The study found the following results. First, it was revealed that characteristics of games had positive effects on emotion in game portal sites and indirect effects on user satisfaction. Second, the study analyzed the difference between low user group and high user group. It was revealed that the characteristics of games had positive effects on emotion in the low user group, but only challenge factor influenced on emotion in the high user group.

  • Senior Internet users have been tremendously increasing for the past few years in line with increase in the aging populations, and silver portals began to provide some sorts of services to them in Korea. Thus, this paper aimed at identifying Web quality factors of silver portal for its successful adoption, and examining the moderating effects of gender on the relations between Web quality factors and intention to use. Information quality, system quality, service quality and entertainment quality were identified as Web quality factors of silver portal based on the intensive review on prior researches. A total of surveys 525 from the potential users of silver portal, who are over 40 years old, were analyzed to verify our research model. The findings show that information quality, system quality, and entertainment quality are related to intention to use whereas service quality has no relationship with intention to use. It is found that gender moderates the relationship between entertainment quality and intention to use.

  • The objective of manufacturing knowledge sharing platform is to convert the production experience like a worker's know-how into quantitative values, to construct database of the process technologies and to share the technologies systematically via web portal service. In addition, the knowledge sharing platform contains the total production processes of automobile and mobile products such as information of experts, facilities, and cutting-edge R&D outputs. Automobile, telecommunication mobile, and semiconductors account for a large amount of Korea's export industry rate. These industries need production technology which is a result of converting worker's know-how and R&D. Manufacturing knowledge portal aims to enable transforming production experience such as worker's know-how into standardized form for constructing database and sharing technologies systematically. Manufacturing knowledge portal can contribute to small and mid-sized manufacturing companies with further improvements.

  • In these days everyone search the information easily with the Internet as the rapid distribution and active usage of the Internet. The search engines were developed specially to accuracy of information retrieval. User search the information more quickly and variously with them. The search portal system will be embossed with representation and basic services. The Internet user needs the result of text, image and video, knowledge search. The keyword based search is used generally for getting result of the information retrieval and another method is category based search. This paper investigates the classification of knowledge search structure for oriental medicine in market leader of search portal system by ranking web site. As a result, each classification system is unified and there is a possibility of getting up a many confusion to the user who approaches with classification systematic search method. This treatise proposed the improved oriental medicine classification system of internet information retrieval in knowledge search area. if the service provider amends about the classification system, there will be able to guarantee the compatibility of data. Also the proper access path of the knowledge which seeks is secured to user.
