IT중소기업의 핵심역량이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 기업가 정신과 정부지원의 조절효과 (The Influence of Core Competence on Organizational Performance of IT Small and Medium Enterprises : The Moderating Role of Entrepreneurship and Government Support)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of core competences on organizational performance in small and medium sized IT enterprises. Especially, the moderating effects of entrepreneurship and government support variables between the core competences and organizational performance were examined. To empirically prove the hypothesis, the statistical analysis were conducted based on the response from the 502 Korean domestic IT SMEs, using AMOS 18.0 and SPSS 20.0. The results of this empirical study can be summarized as follows. First, core competences (marketing, networking, and technology competence) have positive influence on organizational performance. Second, entrepreneurship and government support have moderating effects in the relationship between core competence and organizational performance. Especially, network and marketing competence appeared to be affected by more entrepreneurship than technology competence. So this paper suggests that when the R&D of SMEs and government support are properly combined, it will directly give an effect on organizational performance. The results of this research can be used for building a better government support policies and strategic planning of small and medium sized domestic IT enterprises.

Association between business switch or liquidation, and the demographics of Small and Medium Enterprises in South Korea

  • Purpose - In this study, we consider and examine relationships between reasons for business switch or liquidation (BSL), and the demographics of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in South Korea. The related five variables are occupations, administrative districts, age of employer, firm age and foundation motivation. In addition, eleven levels in association with reasons for BSL visualize the corresponding demographics by measuring their similarity on the dimensional planes assuming that the association exists between variables under consideration. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is done by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2016 and examines 20,307 small and medium enterprises. For examining the distinct relationships among variables under consideration, both chi-squared test and correspondence analysis as main statistical tools are used. Results - The results show that among levels of reasons for BSL the three levels -weakening profitability, poor sales and economic depression- are main ones for the five demographics variables mentioned above, and we can obtain the detailed associations between attributes of corresponding variables by inspecting the two dimensional plane. Conclusions - This study suggests reasons for BSL are closely associated with the five different demographics variables - Administrative districts, Firm age, Occupations, Age of employer and Foundation motivation-by looking over results.

분산이질환경에서 중소기업형 FMS공유구조에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Sharing Architecture of FMS for Small and Medium Enterprises on Distributed Heterogeneous Environments)

  • A practical method to investigate the sharing architecture of FMS, for small and medium enterprises, on distributed heterogeneous environmental conditions is investigated. Because the industrial FMS model requires a reasonable size for actual work-site flexible operation, the initial facility expense is very heavy. The support for flexible cooperation of FMS, with some external different FMS, can reduce expenditures and provide greater functionality. While most FMS provide their operation process using an adequate mechanism, when used in isolation, such as island of automation, there is increasing demand for FMS that can cooperate. By exchanging intermediate products and information with other external FMS, products can be produced that cannot be produced alone, such as those that require various processes. This study first considers the sharing architecture of FMS for small and medium enterprises, and investigates the effects of the general sharing architecture of FMS on distributed heterogeneous environments, by using transducer approach to agentification. In this study, set-up station or in-out station takes charge of the gateway of intermediate products, and routes them among distributed heterogeneous FMS plants. The transducer approach is applied to web agent and set-up agent established interfaces, with system controller and setup controller. In this study, the FMS-established sharing architecture is able to obtain not only the internal flexibility, but also the external flexibility.

IT중소기업 정부자금 지원정책 성과 평가를 위한 DEA/(AR-I, ARGM) 모형 설계 및 민감도 분석 (Design of DEA/(AR-I, ARGM) Models and Sensitivity Analysis for Performance Evaluation on Governmental Funding Projects for IT Small and Medium-sized Enterprises)

  • Recently, it has been strongly required to establish a systematic and sustainable performance investigation and evaluation framework on governmental funding projects for IT small and medium-sized enterprises. In this paper, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models are adopted for performance evaluation on governmental funding projects for IT small and medium-sized enterprises. A new data structure is proposed for the DEA performance evaluation. Generally, in using DEA models, DEA multipliers restriction is critical to achieve the reliability of DEA optimal solutions. Based on the outputs and inputs considered in this study, Acceptance Region (AR) constraints are generated and incorporated into the DEA models so as to improve the reliability of DEA efficiency scores. Associated with AR Type I (AR-I), AR Global Model (ARGM) constraints, DEA/ (AR-I, ARGM) models are designed and then sensitivity analysis follows investigating the robustness of DEA efficiency scores relating to AR constraints adjustment. Finally, a performance evaluation is illustrated regarding governmental direct funding projects from Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) in Korea where each project unit (i.e. Decision Making Unit (DMU)) is determined whether it is efficient or not. By using DEA/(AR-I, ARGM) models designed in this paper, robustly efficient DMUs are gradually identified according to the successive AR constraints adjustment. Among 25 DMUs, results show that 6 DMUs such as B, E, G, Q, S, Y are determined as robustly efficient against AR constraints intermediate adjustment.

중소제조기업 협업지원 시스템의 도입 및 활용 효과 분석 프레임워크 (A Framework for Analyzing the Effectiveness of a Collaboration Support System for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises)

  • Recently, the collaboration among small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) has been recognized as an effective competitive tool. As several systems have been developed to boost the collaboration, it is necessary to analyze the effectiveness of the systems in terms of their contribution to enhance operational performance of SMEs through objective and quantitative validation. In particular, the analysis for SMEs rather than large-scaled enterprises has not received much attention due to lack of relevant information and difficulty of collecting data. This paper presents a framework for analyzing the effectiveness of the collaboration support system, called i-manufacturing hub, which has been implemented by Korean government. Identification of influential factors to the effectiveness of collaboration hub, and constructing necessary hypotheses are proposed. To overcome the difficulty in data collection only by means of surveys through subjective questionnaires, we exploit system log data that are generated while SMEs use the system. As an initial phase to analyze the effectiveness through hypothesis validation, we discuss several interesting observations and challenges in the direction of enhancing collaboration among SMEs for better operational performance improvement and more participation in the collaboration hub.

  • Ten years have passed since the establishment of KOSHBA(Korea Small and medium enterprises Hybrid Business Association), KOSHBA is composed of over 400 regional groups; over 4,000 enterprises are participating in the association. This paper deals with a survey on the present status of the participating companies in HBA of Kangwon province including the motivation of participation, participating period, and the purpose of participation. The survey results show that they are participating in HBA for manpower interchange, information gathering, mutual utilization of management resources, and their company's growth. To become a dynamic and vital association, it is necessary to share, learn, and discuss their managerial problems based on mutual trust and respect at the regular monthly meeting.

But with the rapid development of light weight Information Technology, the importance of SME (Small and Medium sized Enterprise) sector has increased dramatically. Many solutions have appeared in market for SMEs. Although there are many differences in the context of IT use between large companies and SMEs, not many studies has focused on this point. This study analyzes the preference for ERP, SCM, CRM, etc. by SMEs.

Executive Compensation in Korea: Evidence from a New Mandatory Disclosure

  • This paper finds some stylized facts about executive pay in South Korea. Using aggregate data of the listed companies since 2002, we find that 1) the director's remuneration has risen faster than the employee compensation, thus, the pay ratio of executive and employee has escalated from 3.0 to 4.5; 2) the executive compensation for large business group fluctuates more widely than that for small and medium enterprises does, hence the pay ratio for large firms changes widely too; 3) the median pay ratio has not grown monotonically but it rather rises to remain still around year 2011, which is accounted for mostly by small and medium enterprises. New information on executive compensation by compulsory disclosure starting from 2013 made further analysis of CEO compensation attainable. Based on the conventional regression analysis for 2013-2017, we find that 1) the elasticity of CEO pay with respect to firm value is about 0.18; 2) the volatility of stock return is negatively related to CEO pay; 3) contemporaneous stock return is positively associated with the pay; 4) there is insufficient evidence that large business groups pay their CEOs more than small and medium enterprises do. These results are robust under various model specifications.

  • IT 중소벤처기업들은 기업의 영세성과 무경험성, 기술중심적인 경영과 국내 편향적인 경영 등으로 인해 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 오늘날 전세계 경제의 개방화, 통합화에 따라 기업의 국제화 (Globalization) 또는 세계화(Internationalization)는 더욱 가속화되고 있다. 이러한 국제화의 흐름은 비단 대기업이나 다국적기업 뿐만이 아니라 중소기업 또는 신생 벤처기업에도 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 그러나 우리나라 벤처기업의 경우 양적인 팽창에 비해 질적인 성장이 따르지 못해 여러 가지 문제가 나타나고 있다. 이는 우리나라와 같이 보유기술이나 잠재적인 역량에 비해 상대적으로 협소한 시장규모와 극심한 경쟁상황에 놓여있는 기술집약적 벤처기업의 경우라면 규모의 경제나 범위의 경제를 달성하기 힘들어 더욱 심각해진다. 본 연구에서는 전세계적으로 많은 중소 벤처기업들이 성장과정에서 국제화를 추진하는 배경 및 창업 초기부터 국제화된 기업의 형태를 갖춘 벤처기업들의 유형별 현황과 이들 기업과 경쟁력을 확보하기 위한 우리나라 벤처기업의 국제화의 필요성에 대하여 논의한다.
