  • Noise estimation and detection algorithm to adapt quickly to changing noise environment using the LMS Filter. However, the LMS Filter for noise estimation for a certain period of time and need time to adapt. If the signal changes occur, have the disadvantage of being more adaptive time-consuming. Therefore, noise removal method is proposed to a frame basis AELMS Filter to compensate. In this paper, we split the input signal on a frame basis in noisy environments. Remove the LMS Filter by configuring noise predictions using the mean and variance. Noise, even if the environment changes fast adaptation time to remove the noise. Remove noise and environmental noise and speech input signal is mixed to maintain the unique characteristics of the voice is a way to reduce the damage of voice information. Noise removal method using a frame basis AELMS Filter To evaluate the performance of the noise removal. Experimental results, the attenuation obtained by removing the noise of the changing environment was improved by an average of 6.8dB.

  • Accurate minutiae extraction from input fingerprint images is one of the critical modules in robust automatic fingerprint identification system. However, the performance of a minutiae extraction is heavily dependent on the quality of the input fingerprint images. If the preprocessing is performed according to the fingerprint image characteristics in the image enhancement step, the system performance will be more robust. In this paper, we propose a knowledge-based preprocessing method, which extracts S features (the mean and variance of gray values, block directional difference, orientation change level, and ridge-valley thickness ratio) from the fingerprint images and analyzes image quality with Ward's clustering algorithm, and enhances the images with respect to oily/neutral/dry characteristics. Experimental results using NIST DB 4 and Inha University DB show that clustering algorithm distinguishes the image Quality characteristics well. In addition, the performance of the proposed method is assessed using quality index and block directional difference. The results indicate that the proposed method improves both the quality index and block directional difference.

  • This paper presents a stereo-based image compression and transmission system for 3D realistic television. In the proposed system, a disparity map is extracted from an input stereo image pair and the extracted disparity map and one of two input images are transmitted or stored at a local or remote site. However, correspondences can not be determined in occlusion areas. Thus, it is not easy to recover 3D information in such regions. In this paper, a reconstruction image compensation algorithm based on error block concealment and in-loop filtering is proposed to minimize the reconstruction error in generating stereo image pair. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown in term of objective accuracy of reconstruction image with several real stereo image pairs.

  • In this paper, low-rate TCP attack as one of shrew attacks is considered and the scaling based dynamic time warping (S-DTW) algorithm is introduced. The low-rate TCP attack can not be detected by the detection method for the previous flooding DoS/DDoS (Denial of Service/Distirbuted Denial of Service) attacks due to its low average traffic rate. It, however, is a periodic short burst that exploits the homogeneity of the minimum retransmission timeout (RTO) of TCP flows and then some pattern matching mechanisms have been proposed to detect it among legitimate input flows. A DTW mechanism as one of detection approaches has proposed to detect attack input stream consisting of many legitimate or attack flows, and shown a depending method as well. This approach, however, has a problem that legitimate input stream may be caught as an attack one. In addition, it is difficult to decide a threshold for separation between the legitimate and the malicious. Thus, the causes of this problem are analyzed through simulation and the scaling by maximum auto-correlation value is executed before computing the DTW. We also discuss the results on applying various scaling approaches and using standard deviation of input streams monitored.

  • Aiming at motion analysis and compensation, it is essential to conduct motion detection with images. However, motion detection and tracking from low-altitude images obtained from an unmanned aerial system may pose many challenges due to degraded image quality caused by platform motion, image instability and illumination fluctuation. This research tackles these challenges by proposing a modified joint transform correlation algorithm which includes two preprocessing strategies. In spatial domain, a modified fuzzy edge detection method is proposed for preprocessing the input images. In frequency domain, to eliminate the disturbance of self-correlation items, the cross-correlation items are extracted from joint power spectrum output plane. The effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm has been tested and evaluated by both simulation and real datasets in this research. The simulation experiments show that the proposed approach can derive satisfactory peaks of cross-correlation and achieve detection accuracy of displacement vectors with no more than 0.03pixel for image pairs with displacement smaller than 20pixels, when addition of image motion blurring in the range of 0~10pixel and 0.002variance of additive Gaussian noise. Moreover, this paper proposes quantitative analysis approach using tri-image pairs from real datasets and the experimental results show that detection accuracy can be achieved with sub-pixel level even if the sampling frequency can only attain 50 frames per second.

  • As various interfacing devices for computational machines are being developed, a new HCI method using hand motion input is introduced. This interface method is a vision-based approach using a single camera for detecting and tracking hand movements. In the previous researches, only a skin color is used for detecting and tracking hand location. However, in our design, skin color and shape information are collectively considered. Consequently, detection ability of a hand increased. we proposed primary orientation edge descriptor for getting an edge information. This method uses only one hand model. Therefore, we do not need training processing time. This system consists of a detecting part and a tracking part for efficient processing. In tracking part, the system is quite robust on the orientation of the hand. The system is applied to recognize a hand written number in script style using DNAC algorithm. Performance of the proposed algorithm reaches 82% recognition ratio in detecting hand region and 90% in recognizing a written number in script style.

  • Nowdays, with the explosive growth of the web information, web users Increase requests of systems which collect and analyze web pages that are relevant. The systems which were develop to solve the request were used clustering methods to improve the duality of information. Clustering is defining inter relationship of unordered data and grouping data systematically. The systems using clustering provide the grouped information to the users. So, they understand the information efficiently. We proposed a hybrid clustering method to cluster a large quantity of data efficiently. By that method, We generate initial clusters using COBWEB Algorithm and refine them using Ezioni Algorithm. This paper adds two ideas in prior hybrid clustering method to increment accuracy and efficiency of clusters. Firstly, we propose the clustering method considering weight of attributes of data. Second, we redefine evaluation functions which generate initial clusters to increase efficiency in clustering. Clustering method proposed in this paper processes a large quantity of data and diminish of dependancy on sequence of input of data. So the clusters are useful to make user profiles in high quality. Ultimately, we will show that the proposed clustering method outperforms the pervious clustering method in the aspect of precision and execution speed.

  • This paper introduces an algorithm that compensates for missing values after converting them into a format that can represent the probability for incomplete data including missing values in training data. In the previous method using this data conversion, incomplete data was processed by allocating missing values with an equal probability that missing variables can have. This method applied to many problems and obtained good results, but it was pointed out that there is a loss of information in that all information remaining in the missing variable is ignored and a new value is assigned. On the other hand, in the new proposed method, only complete information not including missing values is input into the well-known classification algorithm (C4.5), and the decision tree is constructed during learning. Then, the probability of the missing value is obtained from this decision tree and assigned as an estimated value of the missing variable. That is, some lost information is recovered using a lot of information that has not been lost from incomplete learning data.

  • This paper presents a real-time haptic rendering method for a realistic force feedback in a remote environment with varying communication time-delay. The remote environment is assumed as a virtual environment based on a computer graphics, for example, on-line shopping mall, internet game and cyber-education. The properties of a virtual object such as stiffness and viscosity are assumed to be unknown because they are changed according to the contact position and/or a penetrated depth into the object. The DARMAX model based output estimator is proposed to trace the correct impedance of the virtual object in real-time. The output estimator is developed on the input-output relationship. It can trace the varying impedance in real-time by virtue of P-matrix resetting algorithm. And the estimator can trace the correct impedance by using a white noise that prevents the biased input-output information. Realistic output forces are generated in real-time, by using the inputs and the estimated impedance, even though the communication time delay and the impedance of the virtual object are unknown and changed. The generated forces trace the analytical forces computed from the virtual model of the remote environment. Performance is demonstrated by experiments with a 1-dof haptic device and a spring-damper-based virtual model.

  • Since it was first studied in 1980, solar energy analysis model for geographic information systems has been used to determine the approximate spatial distribution of terrain. However, the spatial pattern was not able to be grasped in 3D (three-dimensional) space with low accuracy due to the limitation of input data. Because of computational efficiency, using a constant value for the brightness of the sky caused the simulation results to be less reliable especially when the slope is high or buildings are crowded around. For the above reasons, this study proposed a model that predicts solar energy of vertical surfaces of buildings with four stages below. Firstly, CIE (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) luminance distribution model was used to calculate the brightness distribution of the sky using NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) solar tracking algorithm. Secondly, we suggested a method of calculating the shadow effect using ray tracing. Thirdly, LOD (Level of Detail) 3 of 3D spatial data was used as input data for analysis. Lastly, the accuracy was evaluated based on the atmospheric radiation data collected through the ground observation equipment in Daejeon, South Korea. As a result of evaluating the accuracy, NMBE was 5.14%, RMSE 11.12, and CVRMSE 7.09%.
