There have been numerous studies to explore the problems and solutions, but these lack considering broader set of research variables. Therefore, this research investigated how i) internet users' self characteristics and ii) cognitive characteristics toward internet influence iii) internet addiction and iv) information ethics respectively. Especially, this study focused on college students, more mature beings than elementary, middle and high school students with whom most other researches have dealt so far. Major findings of this study are as follows: (1) Willingness to develop relationships over internet, usefulness of internet use, a degree to perceive the cyber space as real, and a degree to express self over internet have significant effects on disabled life style. Self respect willingness to develop relationships over internet, usefulness of internet use, a degree to perceive the cyber space as real, and capability of using internet have significant effects on the lack of control over internet. Willingness to develop relationships over internet, self control, and a degree to express self over internet have significant effects on the lack of control over internet. 2) Regarding the effects of independent variables(self characteristics and cognitive characteristics) on information ethics through internet addiction factors, self respect self control, a degree to perceive the cyber space as real, and capability of using internet have directly and indirectly significant effects on information ethics through internet addiction. • Internet ethics has been simply recognized as moral understanding, knowledge of etiquette or a kind of common sense. Recently, however, rapid growth of internet dysfunction such as the inadvertent disclosure of personal information, infringement of copyright and malicious code with hacking, has unavoidably broadened the territory of internet ethics. In this light, education contents of internet ethics must include not only laws and systems but specialized knowledge on prevention and action of internet dysfunction. In this paper, we analyze the variables affecting the educational achievement on diverse domains of internet ethics by investigating internet ethics qualifying examination and afterward we suggest some application methods to strengthen the internet ethics.

  • This study focuses on the problems of traditional ethics in the textbooks of 7th Moral Education Curriculum. As the fact that Traditional Ethics is an advanced elective of high school curriculum shows, 'traditional ethics' is an important part of moral education curriculum. Unfortunately, many have maintained that there are significant problems in the contents of traditional ethics described in moral education curriculum. The problems mentioned are: encyclopedic enumeration of the contents, incorrect information, content repetitions, placing too much one-sided emphasis on confucianism, lack of organic link between Korean and oriental ethics, and unlikeliness of accomplishing subject's objectives. This study raises more fundamental problems. The problems pointed out are as follows. First, the definition of traditional ethics in the textbooks is problematic. Second, there is a lack of examination on 'tradition'. Third, there exists a naive understanding that western ethics or thoughts are the causes of all problems and oriental traditional ethics is the cure-all for them. Fourth, viewpoints of orientalism or occidentalism are widespread in describing traditional ethics.

  • With the spread of smart phones, the Internet became a major 'space' of students' daily life and, at the same time, negative aspects of the internet are affecting their life. However, it doesn't seem that there is enough research on this subject. This study was conducted on 278 students in Gyeonggi. The results were as follows. First, gifted students' information and communication ethics index was higher than general students. Second, there was no statistically significant difference according to the gender of information and communication ethics index. Urban districts showed lower index in the upper grades than the lower grades. Third, about 10% of the students had experience of contact with harmful content, and about 1% of students had experienced cyber-wrongdoing. Through the results of this study, systematic education of IT ethics at the elementary school grade level can be expected to prevent school violence, improve information and communication culture, and serve as a future work ethic.

  • The main purpose of this research is to understand the strongest predictors of wearable adoption among athletes with an emphasis on the perceived ethics of biometric data. We performed a word co-occurrence study of biometrics research to determine the ethical constructs of biometric data. A questionnaire incorporating the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), Health Belief Model and Biometric Data Ethics was then designed to develop a neural network model to predict the adoption of wearable sensors among athletes. Our model shows that wearable adoption's strongest predictors are perceived ethics, perceived profit, and perceived threat; which can be categorized as professional stressors. The key theoretical contribution of this paper is to extend the literature on UTAUT by developing a predictive modeling of factors affecting acceptance of wearables by athletes, and highlighting the ethical implications of athlete's adoption of wearables.
