  • A new method for competent extraction of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius Linnaeus) colorants by using ultrasonic device was developed. When comparing to general extraction method, the ultrasonic method showed high extraction efficiency of safflower pigments. Ultrasonic method gave a higher extraction yield of red and yellow safflower pigments than using general method. It is supposed that the extraction efficiency is to be attributed to high vibration energies from ultrasound and finally induced physical changes of the pigments. Furthermore, this study explored the effects of ultrasonic treatment into the extracted safflower pigments on dyeing of cotton fabrics. Ultrasonic treatment into the extracted pigments exhibited significantly improved dyeing properties for the cotton fabrics.

  • Class extraction of object or component based software development methodology is the major factor for software quality. Each method has the class definition and extraction method however there are some troubles when the beginners try. Especially, the conceptual gap results to make the class extraction hard. This research suggests three diagrams to support it. They are Information diagram, Behavio diagram and Management diagram. They specify which services a stakeholder wants, which information to support the service, which actions to solve the service and who has the responsibility for those. Any analysis process which takes class extraction can utilize these diagrams.

  • The automatic extraction of temporal information from written texts is a key component of question answering and summarization systems and its efficacy in those systems is very decisive if a temporal expression (TE) is successfully extracted. In this paper, three different approaches for TE extraction in Uyghur are developed and analyzed. A novel approach which uses lexical semantics as an additional information is also presented to extend classical approaches which are mainly based on morphology and syntax. We used a manually annotated news dataset labeled with TIMEX3 tags and generated three models with different feature combinations. The experimental results show that the best run achieved 0.87 for Precision, 0.89 for Recall, and 0.88 for F1-Measure in Uyghur TE extraction. From the analysis of the results, we concluded that the application of semantic knowledge resolves ambiguity problem at shallower language analysis and significantly aids the development of more efficient Uyghur TE extraction system.

  • This paper proposes a MOS circuit extractor which extracts a netlist from the hierarchical mask information, for the verification tools. To utilize the regularity and the simple representation of the hierarchical circuit, and to reduce the debug cycle of design, verification, and modification, we propose a hierarvhical and incremental circuit extraction algorithm. In flat circuit extraction stage, the multiple storage quad tree is used as an internal data structure. Incremental circuit extraction using the hierarchical structure is made possible, to reduce the re-extraction time of the modified circuit.

  • This paper presents a sub-band feature extraction approach in which the feature extraction method in the individual frequency sub-bands is determined in terms of speech recognition accuracy. As in the multi-band paradigm, features are extracted independently in frequency sub-regions of the speech signal. Since the spectral shape is well structured in the low frequency region, the all pole model is effective for feature extraction. But, in the high frequency region, the nonparametric transform, discrete cosine transform is effective for the extraction of cepstrum. Using the sub-band specific feature extraction method, the linguistic information in the individual frequency sub-bands can be extracted effectively for automatic speech recognition. The validity of the proposed method is shown by comparing the results of speech recognition experiments for our method with those obtained using a full-band feature extraction method.

  • Recently, Fire watching and dangerous substances monitoring system has been being developed to enhance various fire related security. It is generally assumed that fire flame extraction plays a very important role on this monitoring system. In this study, we propose the fire flame extraction method of Non-Residential Facilities based on core object extraction in image. A core object is defined as a comparatively large object at center of the image. First of all, an input image and its decreased resolution image are segmented. Segmented regions are classified as the outer or the inner region. The outer region is adjacent to boundaries of the image and the rest is not. Then core object regions and core background regions are selected from the inner region and the outer region, respectively. Core object regions are the representative regions for the object and are selected by using the information about the region size and location. Each inner region is classified into foreground or background region by comparing its values of a color histogram intersection of the inner region against the core object region and the core background region. Finally, the extracted core object region is determined as fire flame object in the image. Through experiments, we find that to provide a basic measures can respond effectively and quickly to fire in non-residential facilities.

  • Given the growing volume of biomedical papers, the ability to efficiently extract keywords has become crucial for accessing and responding to important information in the literature. In this study, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation of different unsupervised learning-based models and BERT-based models for keyword extraction in the biomedical field. Our experimental findings reveal that the BioBERT model, trained on biomedical-specific data, achieves the highest performance. This study offers precise and dependable insights to guide forthcoming research in biomedical keyword extraction. By establishing a well-suited experimental framework and conducting thorough comparisons and analyses of diverse models, we have furnished essential information. Furthermore, we anticipate extending our contributions to other domains by providing comparative experiments and practical guidelines for effective keyword extraction.

  • In a language, noun and keyword extraction is a key element in information processing. When it comes to processing Korean language information, however, there are still a lot of problems with noun and keyword extraction. This paper proposes an effective noun extraction method that considers noun emergence features. The proposed method can be effectively used in areas like information retrieval where large volumes of documents and data need to be processed in a fast manner. In this paper, a category-based keyword construction method is also presented that uses an unsupervised learning technique to ensure high volumes of queries are automatically classified. Our experimental results show that the proposed method outperformed both the supervised learning-based X2 method known to excel in keyword extraction and the DF method, in terms o classification precision.

  • Hyperspectral data consists of more than 200 spectral bands that are highly correlated. In order to utilize hyperspectral data for classification, dimensional reduction or feature extraction is desired. By applying feature extraction, computational complexity of classification can be reduced and classification accuracy may be improved. In this paper, a genetic algorithm based feature extraction technique is proposed. Measure from discriminant analysis is utilized as optimization criterion. A subset of spectral bands is selected by genetic algorithm. Dimension of feature space is further reduced by linear transformation. Feasibility of the proposed technique is evaluated with AVIRIS data.

  • This paper presents a feature-based approach to extracting machining features fro a feature-based design model. In the approach, a design feature to machining feature conversion process incrementally converts each added design feature into a machining feature or a set of machining features. The proposed approach an efficiently handle protrusion features and interacting features since it takes advantage of design feature information, design intent, and functional requirements during feature extraction. Protrusion features cannot be directly mapped into machining features so that the removal volumes surrounding protrusion features are extracted and converted it no machining features. By utilizing feature information as well as geometry information during feature extraction, the proposed approach can easily overcome inherent problems relating to feature recognition such as feature interactions and loss of design intent. In addition, a feature extraction process can be simplified, and a large set of complex part can be handled with ease.
