  • A condition monitoring methodology for rotating machinery is proposed based on multivariate statistical analysis. The CMS usually are using the vibration signal amplitude such as acceleration RMS, peak and velocity RMS to detect machine faults but the information is not so enough that CMS cannot perform reliable monitoring. So new parameters are added such as shape factor, crest factor, kurtosis and skewness as time domain parameters and spectrum amplitude of rotating frequency, $2^{nd}$ harmonics and gear mesh frequency etc. as frequency domain parameters. Many parameters are combined to represent the machine state using the Hotelling's $T^2$ statistics. The proposed methodology is tested in laboratory and the on-line experiment has shown that the proposed methodology offers a reliable monitoring for rotating machinery.

  • In this study, the seismic performance of skewed highway bridges has been assessed by using fragility function methodology. Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) has been used to prepare complete information about the different damage states of a 30 degree skewed highway bridge. A three dimensional model of a skewed highway bridge is presented and incremental dynamic analysis has been applied. The details of the full nonlinear procedures have also been presented. Different spectral intensity measures are studied and the effects of the period on the fragility curves are shown in different figures. The efficiency, practicality and proficiency of these different spectral intensity measures are compared. A suite of 20 earthquake ground motions are considered for nonlinear time history analysis. It has been shown that, considering different intensity measures (IM) leads us to overestimate or low estimate the damage probability which has been discussed completely.

  • With the rising social interest in the sustainable life, demands are growing for Hanok, as a viable alternative to modernized architecture of Western origin. However, even Hanok is gaining popularity among the general public, its design and construction are still a minor practice. Aiming to build an information system of Hanok, this research proposes a new design process for traditional architecture, utilizing a parametric design methodology. This process, based on the understanding of tectonic joints and spatial composition of our traditional architecture, defines a parametric relationship among the structural elements that compose Hanok. The research uses Gehry Technologies' Digital Project and Autodesk Revit Architecture to apply a concurrent parametric design methodology, approaching the project in both bottom-up and top-down to present a new design process for Hanok elements.

  • Today's product development environment is characterized as abrupt changes in consumer needs and short lifecycle of the product, which requires manufacturing companies to be equipped with time-to-market and time-to-volume strategies as prime factors for the successful product launch on market. They especially need to bring a product to the market faster with smart methodologies that enable assembly manufacturers to efficiently simulate and manage part assembly information throughout product development process. The research in this paper provides n e-manufacturing methodology considering geometric constraints in order to decide assembly process sequences. The methodology organizies the part layout (position & orientation) in order to optimize human postures during the assembly processes. As the case studies, assembly parts for two commercial products have been generated as CAD models and analyzed for the desired solutions for part assembly sequences using the proposed methodology.

  • Recently, the development of mobile devices demands information storage systems to use micro drive devices and cheap media. These should have several characteristics, for example, the subminiature of size, the robustness of shock, the minimum of cost and power consumption, and the removability of multiple applications. A conventional optical disk drive is more suitable for these specifications than the others. The optical storage system of the new generation to use a blue laser and a high numerical aperture (NA) is the perfect candidate for micro optical disk drives. In this paper, the micro actuator that can be applied to a micro optical disk drive is designed by response surface methodology to use a structural analysis and an electro-magnetic analysis. Based on above results, the coarse actuator and fine actuator are designed and improved from the point of view of the size and the power. Consequently, the designs of a micro actuator are proposed through these courses.

  • Modern manufacturing systems consist of highly automated manufacturing devices, and they are controlled by complicated PLC programs. To make sure the achievement of the control objectives of a manufacturing system, it is very important to monitor the dynamic system behaviors of the manufacturing system. In this paper, we propose a monitoring methodology of a PLC program based on the Software In the Loop Simulation(SILS), which makes use of the time gap information between PLC signals. The errors relevant with PLC signals can be found using the proposed methodology, comparing a normal PLC signal trajectory with a target PLC signal trajectory. The proposed methodology has been implemented and tested with simple examples.

  • Since the 1980s, the marketing paradigm has rapidly changed from product-driven marketing to customer-driven marketing. Recently, due to an increase in the amount of information, customer-differentiation strategies have been emphasized more than product-differentiation strategies. This paper suggests a methodology for new customer segmentation and purchase forecasting using changes in customer behavior. This methodology includes a segmentation method for new customers using existing customer's characteristics and a purchase-forecasting system using the purchase-behavior patterns of existing customers. The proposed methodology not only provides differential services from a segmentation system but also recommends differential items from the purchase forecasting system for new and existing customers.

  • It is shown that $I_{DDQ}$ testing is very useful for shipping fault-free CMOS ICs. However, test time of $I_{DDQ}$ testing is extremely larger than one of logic testing. In this paper, a new test input sequence generation methodology is proposed to reduce the test time of $I_{DDQ}$ testing. At first, it is Shown that $I_{DDQ}$ test time Will be denominated by charge supply current for load capacitance of gates whose output logic values are changed by test input vector application and the charge current depends on input sequence of test vectors. After that, a test input sequence generation methodology is proposed. The feasibility is checked by some experiments.riments.

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is considered to be one of the most important technologies provided by the Internet in our era. GIS enables institutions and individuals to plan and make decisions in many fields. GIS assists in accessing new and updated information on planning process. GIS also enables determining distances such as length, width, area on a map, and allows analyzing and processing a large amount of data for the search of geographical characteristics of locations. This paper explains the concept of dispensing prescription through the specific code of drug on an electronic system using GIS technology. The proposed methodology aims to inform patients of all the prescriptions dispensed and to help individuals inquiring about prescription at the nearest pharmacy through GIS technology. This proposed methodology is considered significant in some cases, as the patient does not know price, specifications and pharmacy location where the drug required is available, thus increasing the time and effort cost that is spent searching for the prescription.

  • Fast and accurate new capacitance determination methodology for non-uniform complicated multi-layer VLSI interconnects is presented. Since a capacitance determination of intricate multi-layer interconnects using 3-dimensional field-solver is not practical, quasi-3-dimensional methodology is presented. Interconnects with discontinuity (i.e., bend structure and different spacing between lines, etc.) are partitioned. Then, each partial capacitance of divided parts is extracted by using 2-dimensional extraction methodology. For a multi-layer interconnects with shielding layer, the system can be simplified by investigating a distribution of charge in it. Thereby, quasi-3-dimensional capacitance for multi-layer interconnects can be determined by combining solid-ground based 2-dimensional capacitance and shielding effect which is independently determined with layout dimensions. This methodology for complicated multi-layer interconnects is more accurate and cost-efficient than conventional 3-dimensional methodology It is shown that the quasi-3-dimensional capacitance methodology has excellent agreement with 3-dimensional field- solver-based results within 5% error.
