  • This study aims to develop a research methodology course for graduate-level students using an information-seeking behaviour model of distance learners. Based on a case study and structured survey, the factors that motivate and hinder information-seeking behaviours were identified. The motivating factor for students seeking information through the research methodology course was the necessity to obtain a master's degree, while the hindering factor was the challenge of balancing work and study. The course was developed by leveraging motivational factors and addressing hindering factors. The results of this study can serve as foundational data for understanding students' information-seeking behaviour and establishing teaching and learning strategies to enhance students' information-seeking skills when developing online courses.

  • We study the orbit behaviours of recurrent, uniformly recurrent and Poisson stable points. we give conditons that a point is to be recurrent or uniformly recurrent by analyzing the behaviours of their orbits. Also, we study dynamical properties of equicontinuous points and points of characteristic $0^+$.

  • Recently, mobile traffic has increased tremendously due to the deployment of smart devices such as smartphones and smart tablets. Android is the world's most powerful mobile platform in smartphone. The Android operating system provide seamless access to many applications and access to the Internet. It would involve network packet sharing communicated over the network. Network packet contains a lot of useful information about network activity that can be used as a description of the general network behaviours. To study what is the behaviours of the network packet, an effective tools such as network packet analyzers software used by network administrators to capture and analyze the network information. In this research, more understanding about network information in live network packet captured from Android smartphone is the target and identify the best network analyzer software.

  • The main purpose of this study is to find the difference of information searching behaviours consist of information pursuit cognition and searching character by time pressure of researchers. The majar findings and result by time pressure of researchers are summarized as follows : In terms of information retrieval systems, according to the time pressure, there is a significant difference in recall, precision and diversity. In terms of main used material, there is a significant difference in a book, a research report, and a Journal. In terms of resource types, there is a significant difference in both record and human resource. Also, in terms of searching behaviours, there is a difference to spend time for information collection and information searching strategy, and to decide information searching method and degree of searching.

  • A novel bipolar circuit technique for realizing linear transconductor is described. The proposed circuit has superior linearity and temperature characteristics when compared with the conventional transconductor. The theory of operation is presented and computer simulation results are used to verify theoretical predections. The simulation results show close agreement between predicted behaviours and experimental performances.

  • Recently libraries are experiencing an increasing number of difficult patrons because of the increase in the unemployment rate and the problem of mental health in their communities. The problem behaviours of difficult patrons have negative influence to other users and staff in the library. This seems closely associated with the decline in the quality of library services. Therefore, in this study, we developed a how-to-do-it manual for library staff to meet the aforementioned challenges and to enhance the overall quality of library services for both general users and difficult patrons.

  • The Trust and Authority in Scholarly Communications in the Light of the Digital Transition research project1) was a study which investigated the behaviours and attitudes of academic researchers as producers and consumers of scholarly information resources in respect to how they determine authority and trustworthiness. The research questions for the study arose out of CIBER's studies of the virtual scholar. This paper focuses on elements of this study, mainly an analysis of a scholarly publisher's usage logs, which was undertaken at the start of the project in order to build an evidence base, which would help calibrate the main methodological tools used by the project: interviews and questionnaire. The specific purpose of the log study was to identify and assess the digital usage behaviours that potentially raise trustworthiness and authority questions. Results from the self-report part of the study were additionally used to explain the logs. The main findings were that: 1) logs provide a good indicator of use and information seeking behaviour, albeit in respect to just a part of the information seeking journey; 2) the 'lite' form of information seeking behaviour observed in the logs is a sign of users trying to make their mind up in the face of a tsunami of information as to what is relevant and to be trusted; 3) Google and Google Scholar are the discovery platforms of choice for academic researchers, which partly points to the fact that they are influenced in what they use and read by ease of access; 4) usage is not a suitable proxy for quality. The paper also provides contextual data from CIBER's previous studies.

  • In the phase locked AM signal detection, phase locked loop is used to extract a synchronous carrier from an input AM signal. Under the assumption that input noise is white Gaussian and free-running frequency of voltage controlled oscillator is the same that of an input carrier, operational behaviours of phase locked loop is analyzed and signal to noise ratio of the detection is derived quentitatively. The results show that the phase locked AM signal detection method offers a higher degree of noise mmunity than conventional AM signal detections.

  • In this paper, we demonstrate an autonomous design of motion control of virtual creatures (called animated robots in this paper) and develop modeling software for animated robots. An animated robot can behave autonomously by using its own sensors and controllers on three-dimensional physically modeled environment. The developed software can enable us to execute the simulation of animated robots on physical environment at any time during the modeling process. In order to simulate more realistic world, an approximate fluid environment model with low computational costs is presented. It is shown that a combinatorial use of neural network implementation for controllers and the genetic algorithm (GA) or the particle swarm optimization (PSO) is effective for emerging more realistic autonomous behaviours of animated robots.
