  • In this paper we propose a robust Wald-type test which is based on an efficient Mallows-type one-step GM-estimator. The proposed estimator based on the weight function of Song, Park and Nam (1996) has a bounded influence function and a high breakdown point. Under some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point, and drive asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator. The level and power breakdown points, influence function and asymptotic distribution of the proposed test statistic are main points of this paper. To compare the performance of the proposed test with other tests, we perform some Monte Carlo simulations.

  • Purpose - Korean women suffered from serious experience at unfair personnel practice in the work and coexistence between work and home affairs. The study examined woman workers' career plateau perception and success who worked for local public enterprises, that is to say, regional public corporation invested by local government, and investigated mediating effect of dual commitment as well as control effect of self-efficacy from point of view of various access to variables. Research design, data, and methodology - The study investigated women employees of regional public corporation by empirical analysis. The author collected 337 copies from 380 copies and made use of 325 copies after excluding copies with improper answer. SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 were used. Results - The study investigated effect of career plateau (structure and content) upon subjective career success (job satisfaction and career commitment) according to questionnaire material: First, not only structural plateau but also content career plateau had negative influence upon dual commitment (structure and career). Second, dual commitment had positive influence upon subjective career success from point of view of organizational commitment and career commitment. Third, structural career plateau had positive influence upon career success, and content career plateau had positive influence upon job satisfaction. Fourth, structural career plateau did not have significant influence upon job satisfaction, content career plateau and career satisfaction. Fifth, subordinate variables (organizational commitment and career commitment) had mediating influence upon career plateau cognition and subjective career success. Sixth, self efficacy did not control career plateau cognition and subjective career success. Conclusions - Women employee's career plateau cognition mediated dual commitment to have influence upon career success and to be likely to help career success theory study. Career plateau had negative influence upon dual commitment and career success of women workers. The study shall give base of counteraction from point of view of control and motivation of women workers thinking of career plateau.

  • The expansion of near shore aquaculture is feasibility of moving aquaculture facilities into the open ocean. Numerical modeling technique using finite element method was used to enable the optimum design and evaluation of submersible aquaculture cage system. The characteristics of mooring loads response in mooring lines under waves and current and their response amplitude operators were calculated for single and three point mooring configuration at the surface condition and submerged one. The static mooring loads without wave and current loading were similar for both the surface and submerged configuration. It was calculated that three point mooring was more adequate than single point mooring for the mooring configuration of submersible aquaculture cage system. The wave induced response amplitude operators for the single point mooring configuration with the influence of currents were identical to those without the influence of currents.

  • In this paper we propose an efficient scoring type one-step GM-estimator, which has a bounded influence function and a high break-down point. The main point of the estimator is in the weighting scheme of the GM-estimator. The weight function we used depends on both leverage points and residuals So we construct an estimator which does not downweight good leverage points Unider some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point and prove asymptotic normality Some simulation results are also presented.

  • This paper deals with a robust regression estimator. We propose an efficient one-step GM-estimator, which has a bounded influence function and a high breakdown point. The main idea of this paper is to use the Mallows-type weights which depend on both the predictor variables and the residuals from a high breakdown initial estimator. The proposed weighting scheme severely downweights the bad leverage points and slightly downweights the good leverage points. Under some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point and prove the asymptotic normality. Some simulation results and a numerical example are also presented.

  • This study was carried out to identify the influence of continuous physical therapy on long-stay elderly patients. This study classified 92 patients who had been hospitalized for one year into experimental group who continued to perform physical therapy and control group who did not conduct physical therapy and these two groups were classified into 0.5 point-questionable group, 1 point-mild dementia group, and 2 point-moderate dementia group based on the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale(CDR) when they were hospitalized in order to analyze the changes at the early stage of hospitalization and after one year has passed. As a result, it was appeared that both in CDR 0.5-point subgroup of questionable group and in CDR 1-point subgroup of mild dementia group, CDR was statistically significantly reduced in the experimental group whose physical therapy was continuously performed than in the control group whose physical therapy was not performed(p<.05) and that there was no significant difference in changes in the CDR between experimental group and control group in CDR 2-point group, which is a moderate dementia group.

  • Purpose: This observational study was aimed to determine the influence of the Hawthorne effect on the adherence to hand hygiene (HH) among healthcare workers (HCWs) in South Korea. Methods: HCWs were monitored in 2 periods regarding adherence to HH when there were indications for HH. In first period, HCWs recognized that their behavior of hand hygiene being observed (overt observation), and did not recognize in second period (covert observation). Results: The overall difference in HH rate between two periods was 45.0% point (77.8% vs 32.8%). There were significant differences between profession but in nurse aids. The differences in HH rate between two periods were 46.1% point in nurses, 29.9% point in physicians, 64.0% in radiologists, 62.5% point in laboratory technicians, 36.4% point in physio-therapist, and 1.0% point in nurse aids. The Hawthorne effect on the adherence to HH lasted more than 3 months. Conclusion: The Hawthorne effect markedly influence on the adherence to HH regardless of profession except nurse aids. Therefore, Hawthorne effect can be useful tool to improve and sustain the adherence to HH among HCWs in South Korea.

  • This study was intended to examine the effect of consumer materialism, price and point-of-purchase advertisements on consumer preference and purchasing intention with respect to discount jeans. Information for the study was obtained through the use of an experimental design which was 2$\times$[2$\times$3] mixed factorial design. The subjects were two hundred and seventy college male and female students. The data were analysed with factor analysis, ANOVA by using the SAS program. The main results were as follows: First, the results indicated that the 3-way interaction effects among materialism, price and point-of-purchase advertisements on consumer preference. Second, the results showed the 2-way interaction effects between materialism and price between materialism and price on consumers’purchasing behavior. These results indicated that materialism have not direct effect on consumers’purchasing behavior but significant influence under those condition in which price effect occurs. And different from other point-of-purchase advertisements, power words’advertisements show negative effects on consumer preference in case of low price jeans, having no connection with materialism level.

  • This study investigates the influence of Likert scale formats such as the number of response categories and the inclusion of a mid-point from a methodological point of view using instruments that measure a fashionmarketing-related subject. Using a self-administered questionnaire, 201 respondents rated their economic clothing shopping orientation on three formats of scales that differed only in the number of response categories (ranging from 5 to 7) from February 8 to February 12, 2010. Descriptive statistics, Spearman's rank order correlation, t-test, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson's correlation, and Cronbach's alpha were used in the analysis. The results are as follows. First, three scale formats were generally suitable for use due to validity and reliability. Second, the response results varied with the number of categories and the inclusion of a mid-point, although the differences were statistically insignificant (with only a few cases that differed). Third, construct validity was more secure in scales with fewer categories, whereas convergent and discriminant validity was generally good in all scale formats. Fourth, reliability coefficients were higher in scales with more categories. Fifth, the number of categories was of greater importance to instrument design than the inclusion of a mid-point. Implications for appropriate scale designs are suggested in this study.
