  • In this study, direct shear tests were carried out on the 30 rock joint samples in order to investigate the influence of roughness and normal stress on the shear behaviour. Joint roughness profiles were measured by use of 3D laser profiler, and then the samples were equally classified into three individual groups according to the roughness index of rock joints. Peak shear strength, residual shear strength, shear stiffness, dilation angle of rock joints were investigated in condition of five different constant normal load. Peak shear strength was increased as roughness index was increased, and the influence of roughness on strength was found to be more considerable in case of lower normal stress condition. Residual shear strength and shear stiffness were increased as roughness index and normal stress were increased. Finally dilation angle was decreased as normal stress was increased, but it was increased as roughness index was increased in the same normal stress condition.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of self-reflection, self-esteem, and empathy and identify influential factors on happiness index in nursing students. Methods: The data was collected using questionnaires from a convenience sample of 275 nursing students. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: Mean scores of self-esteem, empathy and happiness index were 3.55, 2.89, 3.43, and 66.76, respectively. Self-understanding, self-esteem, and economic status had significant positive effects with a 42% of explained variance of the happiness index. Conclusion: The results suggest that self-understanding, self-esteem, and economic status should be considered as factors when developing intervention strategies to increase the level of the happiness index among nursing students.

  • Customer satisfaction is an ever-growing concern of management throughout the world. To find the way to increase customer satisfaction, we must understand customer requirements. Kano distinguishes between three types of product requirements (must-be, one-dimensional, attractive requirement) which influence customer satisfaction in different ways when met. In this paper, potential customer satisfaction improvement (PCSI) index was developed using Kano model and CS coefficient. Timko has developed customer satisfaction (CS) coefficient based on Kano model. The PCSI index represents how much a service feature can increase the degree of customer satisfaction when the service feature is fully fulfilled. In order to explain the meaning of PCSI index, a case syudy of a Family Restaurant is done. It is also discussed how to use the index strategically.

  • This study was conducted to find out the influence of sample size (accumulated survey areas) on the seven biological indices of benthic macroinvertebrates. BMI, the index similar to Zeilika-Marvan’s saprobic index, tended to be independent on the variations of sample size. The other indices (Shannon-Weaver’s diversity, Margalef’s richness, Menhinick’s richness, Pielou’s evenness, and Lenat’s EPT index) showed the considerable variations along with the increase of sample size and environmental conditions. To get the appropriate index values, it should be sampled at least 6 replicates more based on 30×30cm Surber sampler. In addition, the habitat heterogeneity index of benthic macroinvertebrates suggested in this study, it will be able to be used for evaluating the heterogeneity of habitats.

  • Purpose: This study was to figure out relationships of perceived Technology Readiness Index(TRI), usefulness, acceptance intension, and the recognition of substitute employment of medical personnel on the artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) among main technologies. Methodology: To achieve the purpose, this study utilized structured survey tools to conduct a questionnaire survey of nursing, administrative and medical technology professionals at six university hospitals in Korea metropolitan area. A PLS(Partial Least Square) Path analysis was utilized To analyze the material. Findings: In the relation with the technology readiness and perceived usefulness, it had a positive influence to the perceived usefulness when the optimism and innovativeness were higher and the discomfort was lower. In the relation with the technology readiness and acceptance intension, it showed a positive influence when the innovativeness was higher and the discomfort was lower. In the relation with the perceived usefulness and acceptance intension, it had a positive influence to the acceptance intension when the perceived usefulness was higher. In the relation with the acceptance intension and the recognition of substitute employment, it showed a positive influence to the recognition of substitute employment when the acceptance intension was higher. Practical Implications: Judging based on the above study results and reference reviews, it confirmed that it is necessary to prepare in the level of hospital organization in the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution. They should increase the efficiency of human resources through the technological factors or changes of employment types for the additional demands of human resources to handle increasing medical demands or induce to secure necessary abilities which are changing at the right time by performing the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution related re-training continuously to develop the value of existing human resources.

  • Fragility as one of the most effective methods to evaluate seismic performance, which is greatly affected by damage index. Taking a multi span continuous rigid frame offshore bridge as an example. Based on fragility and reliability theory, considering coupling effect of time-varying durability damage of materials and time-varying attenuation effect of damage index to analyze seismic performance of offshore bridges. Results show that IDA curve considering time-varying damage index is obviously below that without considering; area enclosed by IDA of 1# pier and X-axis under No.1 earthquake considering this effect is 96% of that without considering. Area enclosed by damage index of 1# pier and X-axis under serious damage with considering time-varying damage index is 90% of that without considering in service period. Time-varying damage index has a greater impact on short pier when ground motion intensity is small, while it has a great impact on high pier when the intensity is large. The area enclosed by fragility of bridge system and X-axis under complete destruction considering time-varying damage index is 165% of that without considering when reach designed service life. Therefore, time-varying attenuation effect of damage index has a great impact on seismic performance of bridge in service period.

  • In 2009, Korea Communications Commission(KCC) added a new clause which regulates the protection of the media diversity to the Broadcasting Act. Specifically, the provision, Article 35-4, contains the creation of the Media Diversity Committee which is responsible for (1) the measure of TV audience share by media company; and (2) the development of summing up index of the different media influence by the end of 2012. Although the Korean version of diversity index as German KEK was made after a careful consideration based on the necessity to devise a criterion to determine the appropriate level of ownership regulation for the media companies, several issues including the measurement method have been raising the consistent controversy among experts. This study focuses on the evaluation of the media diversity policy by indicating the problems of the devised index and showing the concrete issues of the contention. As the result of the policy delphi-analysis targeted 10 media experts, this study suggest that the Article 35-4 of Broadcasting Act needs to be amend into the realistic and rational directions in well with the tenets of the law.

  • This paper presents a methodology for priority decision of performance evaluation of small-and-medium-sized highway bridges. This methodology could be used for establishing a maintenance strategy of those bridges which are not liable to the law of the Special Act on the Safety Control and Maintenance of Establishments and are thought laid under blind spot. The risk index are calculated considering vulnerability and social influence, then the bridges are classified as three types, one requiring immediate evaluation, the other one requiring evaluation within next year, and the third one observing, according to the index. The suggested method was applied to a small bridge under service and its field applicability verified. From this study, it was judged that this methodology could be used appropriately for establishing maintenance strategy and saving the maintenance budget.

  • This research aims at investigating science teachers' perception of the refractive index of materials, and thus achieving proper information transmission and teaching of refractive index. Specifically, we have made questionnaires on what physical factors influence the refractive index of a liquid easily available in secondary schools. It was found that 80.0% of science teachers perceived that the density has the greatest influence on the refractive index, among a variety of factors such as molecular structure, the number of molecules per unit volume, mass of each molecule, and the wavelength of light, to mention just a few. This may be due to the fact that current textbooks deal with the refraction of light based on analogy to a mechanical wave. Such a misunderstanding may lead to confusion and misunderstanding for students.
