해상 태양광 부유체의 거동측정을 위한 MEMS 연구 (Research on MEMS for Motion Measurement of Solar Energy Platform at Sea)

  • 태양 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환시키는 장치가 설치된 해상 부유체는 파도에 의해서 운동한다. 해상 부유체의 안전성을 평가하기 위해서는 부유체 운동의 측정과 해석이 필요한데, 일반적으로 6자유도 운동을 이용한다. 6자유도 운동은 저전력, 소형, 저가의 특징을 갖고 있는 MEMS(Micro-Electro Mechanical System)를 이용하여 측정할 수 있다. 문제는 MEMS의 낮은 정밀도이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 MEMS를 이용한 해상 태양광 부유체의 거동을 측정하고, 측정한 거동을 이용한 안전성 평가 기법에 관하여 검토하였다. 연구결과 3축의 가속도계와 3축의 자이로스코프를 이용한 관성 측정 플랫폼을 통해서 해상 부유체의 모델링과 안전성 평가가 가능함을 알았다.

Optimal Reserve Allocation to Maximize Kinetic Energy in a Wind Power Plant

  • Modern wind generators (WGs) are forced or encouraged to participate in frequency control in the form of inertial and/or primary control to improve the frequency stability of power systems. To participate in primary control, WGs should perform deloaded operation that maintains reserve power using speed and/or pitch-angle control. This paper proposes an optimization formulation that allocates the required reserve to WGs to maximize the kinetic energy (KE) stored in a wind power plant (WPP). The proposed optimization formulation considers the rotor speed margin of each WG to the maximum speed limit, which is different from each other because of the wake effects in a WPP. As a result, the proposed formulation allows a WG with a lower rotor speed to retain more KE in the WPP. The performance of the proposed formulation was investigated in a 100-MW WPP consisting of 20 units of 5-MW permanent magnet synchronous generators using an EMTP-RV simulator. The results show that the proposed formulation retains the maximum amount of KE with the same reserve and successfully increases the frequency nadir in a power system by releasing the stored KE in a WPP in the case of a disturbance.

  • The flow and the heat transfer about the cross-flow fin-tube heat exchanger in an out-door unit of a heat pump system has been numerically Investigated. Using the general purpose analysis code, FLUENT, the Navier-Stokes equations and the energy equation are solved for the three dimensional computation domain that encompasses multiple rows of the fin-tube. The temperature on the fin and tube surface is assumed constant but compensated later through the fin efficiency when predicting the heat-transfer rate. The contact resistance is also taken into consideration. The flow and temperature fields for a wide range of inlet velocity and fin-tube arrangements are examined and the results are presented in the paper. The details of the flow are very well captured and the heat transfer rate for a range of inlet velocity is in excellent agreement with the measured data. The flow solution provides the effective permeability and the inertial resistance factor of the heat exchanger if the exchanger were to be approximated by the porous medium. This information is essential in carrying out the global flow field calculation which, in turn, provides the inlet velocity lot the microscopic temperature-field calculation of the heat exchanger unit.

Experimental and numerical investigations of the influence of reducing cement by adding waste powder rubber on the impact behavior of concrete

  • In this study, the effect of reducing cement by proportional addition of waste powder rubber on the performance of concrete under impact three-point bending loading were investigated experimentally and numerically. Concrete specimens were prepared by adding 5%, 10% and 20 % of rubber powder as filler to the mix and decreasing the same percentage of cement. For each case, three beams of $50mm{\times}100mm{\times}500mm$ were loaded to failure in a drop-weight impact machine by subjecting them to 20 N weight from 300mm height, while another three similar beams were tested under static load. The bending load-displacement behavior was analyzed for the plain and rubberized specimens, under static and impact loads. A three dimensional finite-element method simulation was also performed by using LUSAS V.14 in order to study the impact load-displacement behavior, and the predictions were validated with the experimental results. It was observed that, despite decreasing the cement content, the proportional addition of powder rubber until 10% could yield enhancements in impact tup, inertial load and bending load.

Large Eddy Simulation of the Dynamic Response of an Inducer to Flow Rate Fluctuations

  • A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of the flow in an inducer is carried out under flow rate oscillations. The present study focuses on the dynamic response of the backflow and the unsteady pressure performance to the flow rate fluctuations under non-cavitation conditions. The amplitude of angular momentum fluctuation evaluated by LES is larger than that evaluated by RANS. However, the phase delay of backflow is nearly the same as RANS calculation. The pressure performance curve exhibits a closed curve caused by the inertia effect associated with the flow rate fluctuations. Compared with simplified one dimensional evaluation of the inertia component, the component obtained by LES is smaller. The negative slope of averaged performance curve becomes larger under unsteady conditions. From the conservations of angular momentum and energy, an expression useful for the evaluation of unsteady pressure rise was obtained. The examination of each term of this expression show that the apparent decrease of inertia effects is caused by the response delay of Euler's head and that the increase of negative slope is caused by the delay of inertial term associated with the delay of backflow response. These results are qualitatively confirmed by experiments.

Improved DV-Hop Localization Algorithm Based on Bat Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Obtaining accurate location information is important in practical applications of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The distance vector hop (DV-Hop) is a frequently-used range-free localization algorithm in WSNs, but it has low localization accuracy. Moreover, despite various improvements to DV-Hop-based localization algorithms, maintaining a balance between high localization accuracy and good stability and convergence is still a challenge. To overcome these shortcomings, we proposed an improved DV-Hop localization algorithm based on the bat algorithm (IBDV-Hop) for WSNs. The IBDV-Hop algorithm incorporates optimization methods that enhance the accuracy of the average hop distance and fitness function. We also introduce a nonlinear dynamic inertial weight strategy to extend the global search scope and increase the local search accuracy. Moreover, we develop an updated solutions strategy that avoids premature convergence by the IBDV-Hop algorithm. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the IBDV-Hop algorithm achieves higher localization accuracy than the original DV-Hop algorithm and other improved algorithms. The IBDV-Hop algorithm also exhibits good stability, search capability and convergence, and it requires little additional time complexity and energy consumption.

로터 시스템 회전운동의 정식화 및 해석 (Inelastic Transient Dynamic Analysis of Two- and Three-dimensional Stress Problems by Particular Integral Boundary Element Method)

  • 본 논문은 로터 시스템의 디스크 회전운동을 표현하는데 있어 운동방정식을 통합하는 과정에서 기존 연구자들이 채택한 오일러 각 사용법이 일관성이 없음을 지적하였다. 기존 연구자들은 오일러 각 순서가 달라서 속도와 운동에너지도 달리 산정하였음은 물론, 운동방정식은 오직 선형 시스템만 취급해 왔다 이러한 오일러 각 사용법의 단점을 극복하기 위하여 회전운동을 더욱 단순하게 매개화할 수 있는 4원법(quaternion)과 구 좌표계를 적용하여 비선형 시스템을 도출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 수치해석을 통하여 기존 방법과 비교하여 제안한 방법의 신뢰성과 우수성을 보였다.

변동풍속의 파워 스펙트럴 밀도에 관한 평가 (Estimation on the Power Spectral Densities of Daily Instantaneous Maximum Fluctuation Wind Velocity)

  • 시공간적으로 불규칙하게 작용하는 변동 풍속 난류의 자료는 풍공학적으로 돌풍계수 평균풍속 변동 풍하중등의 계산에서 요구되지만, 내풍 및 사용성에 따른 동적응답의 평가에서는 변동 풍속의 파워 스펙트럴 밀도함수가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 1987-2016.12.1일까지의 일순간최대풍속 자료를 확률과정으로 가정했고, 이 실측된 자료와 확률이론을 근거로 평균류방향 파워 스펙트럴 밀도 함수에 대한 기초적 자료를 얻고자 대표지점(6개 지점)을 선정했다. 선정된 각 지점에 대한 일순간최대풍속자료는 기상청으로부터 획득했다. 해석결과 본 논문에서 평가된 스펙트럼 모델은 저진동수 영역에서는 Solari, 고진동수 영역에서는 von Karman의 모델과 근접한 현상을 나타냈다.

Control Strategy and Stability Analysis of Virtual Synchronous Generators Combined with Photovoltaic Dynamic Characteristics

  • A problem with virtual synchronous generator (VSG) systems is that they are difficult to operate stably with photovoltaic (PV) power as the DC side. With this problem in mind, a PV-VSG control strategy considering the dynamic characteristics of the DC side is proposed after an in-depth analysis of the dynamic characteristics of photovoltaic power with a parallel energy-storage capacitor. The proposed PV-VSG automatically introduces DC side voltage control for the VSG when the PV enters into an unstable working interval, which avoids the phenomenon where an inverter fails to work due to a DC voltage sag. The stability of the original VSG and the proposed PV-VSG were compared by a root locus analysis. It is found that the stability of the PV-VSG is more sensitive to the inertia coefficient J than the VSG, and that a serious power oscillation may occur. According to this, a new rotor model is designed to make the inertial coefficient automatically change to adapt to the operating state. Experimental results show that the PV-VSG control strategy can achieve stable operation and maximum power output when the PV output power is insufficient.

Development of dynamic motion models of SPACE code for ocean nuclear reactor analysis

  • Lately, ocean nuclear power plants have attracted attention as one of diverse uses of nuclear power plants. Because ocean nuclear power plants are movable or transportable, it is necessary to analyze the thermal hydraulics in a moving frame of reference, and computer codes have been developed to predict thermal hydraulics in large moving systems. The purpose of this study is to incorporate a three dimensional dynamic motion model into the SPACE code (Safety and Performance Analysis CodE) so that the code is able to analyze thermal hydraulics in an ocean nuclear power plant. A rotation system that describes three-dimensional rotations about an arbitrary axis was implemented, and modifications were made to the one-dimensional momentum equations to reflect the rectilinear and rotational acceleration effects. To demonstrate the code's ability to solve a problem utilizing a rotational frame of reference, code calculations were conducted on various conceptual problems in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional pipeline loops. In particular, the code results for the three-dimensional pipeline loop with a tilted rotation axis agreed well with the multi-dimensional CFD results.
