Agrometeorological information is essential in many agricultural decisions if it reaches the user in a timely and appropriate manner. Agriculture is the backbone to local, regional, and global economic development. Thus, strengthening agrometeorological application to diverse agricultural sectors will benefit economic development. This paper discusses three distinct organizational minions that all share the same need for improved information technology. The World Meteorological Organization's (WMOs) Commission for Agricultural Meteorology (CAgM) has global responsibility for improved agrometeorological services of Members to aid agricultural production and to conserve natural resources. The United States Department of Agriculture, World Agricultural Outlook Board, publishes monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates, considered to be a benchmark for both government and industry in production and trade decisions. The National Drought Policy Commission (NDPC), created by an act of the United States Congress, formulated a national drought policy based on preparedness rather than on crisis management. All three organizations recognize the need for IT applications in agricultural meteorology and have been active in implementing this technology. The development of information technology offers new means of dissemination of agrometeorological products. World Agrometeorological Information Service (WAMIS) has taken advantage of the global Internet application to offer WMO Members a dedicated web server to host agrometeorological bulletins and training modules.
An investigation on optimum processing conditions for meaty textured fish protein concentrate (MT-FPC) was carried out with the fish meat of filefish, Navodon modestus, and sandfish. Arctoscopus japonicus. The processing conditions were determined by the lipid content and the rehydration capacity of MT-FPC. The optimum pH and sodium chloride content of fish meat were 8.0 and 1.0%, respectively. The most effective soaking conditions were: soaking time in chilled ethanol was 15 min for both filefish and sandfish; amount of chilled ethanol, 3 volumes and 4 volumes for filefish and sandfish, respectively; temperature of chilled ethanol, $25 ^{\circ}C$ for both filefish and sandfish; soaking time in boiling ethanol, 15 and 25 min for filefish and sandfish, respectively; amount of boiling ethanol, 2 and 4 volumes for filefish and sandfish, respectively; and number of snaking in boiling ethanol, 2 and 4 times for filefish and sandfish, respectively. Yields of the product to the minced meat weight, the contents of protein and lipid in MT-FPC prepared from filefish were 13.7%, 84.5% and 0.2%, and those from sandfish were 12.5%, 84.2% and 1.1%, respectively.

Contents of polyphenol compounds and the physiological activity of extracts from Grifola frondosa by water and methanol extraction were investigated to determine their functional effects. A functional beverage was developed using the extracts. The yield and phenolic compounds content of the water extracts were highest (49.2% and 327 mg/100 g, respectively), while for the methanol extraction method they were 28.7% and 130 mg/100 g, respectively. DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity was 76.3% for the water extract and 65.4% for methanol extract, whereas the superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity was low ($26.3{\sim}36.8%\;at\;1,000{\mu}g/mL$ concentration) Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory effect of water extract (75.1%) was higher compared to the methanol extracts (41.2%). Tyrosinase inhibition activity was 42.5% for the water extracts and 31.8% for the methanol extracts at $1,000{\mu}g/mL$ concentration. The most acceptable formulation for G. frondosa beverage developed was 0.5% G. frondosa water extract, 8.0% oligosaccharide, 2.0% green tea extract, 2.0% jujube extract, 1.0% Solomon's seal extract, 0.01% vitamin C, and 2.0% apple extract. The final product had 9.8 Brix and color values of L, 35.2+1.1; a, 3.2+0.2; b, 13.6+0.3.
Global women's magazines have been approached as a significant site for exploring the dynamic interaction between global and local forces. Unlike other global media products which are imported from overseas, global women's magazines are published through the cooperation with local companies. These ownership patterns allow local editions of global women's magazines to negotiate the tension and contradiction between the global media and local publishers. Thus, the main purpose of this research is to investigate the dialectic interaction between the global and local forces in the production of international women's magazines in Korea. To explore the dynamic interaction between the global and local forces, both globalization and localization efforts of international women's magazines which occur during the production process were examined through in-depth interviews with personnel in the magazine industry. The result of this research showed that international women's magazines are not a mere part of global media but a 'glocalized' media product, which carry local content via global formats. The form of international women's magazines seems to be more globalized or standardized, while the content (text) is relatively localized by reflecting local readers' interests and the cultural values of Korean society.
The purpose of this paper is to provide information that will help both fishing industry and fisheries authority understand the principals of individual transferable quota(ITQ) fishery management. Theoretical frameworks and primary features of ITQ fishery managemenet are the assignment of exclusive property rights for harvest of common - property fisheries resources. An ITQ fishery management is fundamentally different from the conventional fishery management and it gives an individual fisherman the right to catch a specified quantity of fish, his quota. With ITQ, fisherman's quotas are transferable, in whole or in part. An ITQ is a property with certain rights of use, namely, the right to catch a given quantity and species of fish in a specific location during a specific period of time. The right is exclusive in the sense that no one else has the right to use the quota without the owner's permission. The property may be assigned, traded, and exchanged; i.e., the owner has the right to transfer an ownership to others. An ITQ fishery management leads to both economic efficiency and resource conservation. Motivations to overexploit stocks and to overcapitalize should be lessened because fishermen no longer have to compete for limited resources. There are significant positive net benefits and advantages with ITQ fishery management than without. The potential benefits and advantages of ITQ fishery management include increased profits, economic stability, improved product quality, safer working conditions, less gear conflict, elimination of the race - to - fish phenomenon, less by - catch, less gear loss, improved investment climate, mitigation of market gluts, waste reduction, addition to fisherman's wealth, and compensation for fisherman exiting the fishery. As an independent observe to Red Crab Trap Fishery some of the benefits, problems, and effects, an ITQ fishery management in Red Crab Trap Fishery is still far from to be implemented. Many different and difficult aspects (biological, socioeconomics, administrative) are involved considering the implementation of ITQ fishery management in Red Crab Trap Fishery. Among other fishery management tools, the implementation of ITQ fishery management in Red Crab Trap Fishery is considered to be the best in achieving the better conservation of fisheries resources and their more economic and rational exploitation. Korean fisheries authority should pay great attention to the experience of the economic effects of the ITQ fishery management in Red Crab Trap Fishery in the hope of being able to implement at least some of those experiences into the Korean fishery management.
The disposal problem of waste lime which is a residual product of lime industry have caused a lots of arguments in the past few years. Further more, waste lime contains a high moisture content which causes the disposal of waste lime is a great difficulty. The purpose of this study is to investigate for the effective dewatering solutions by placing various prefabricated vertical drains. The moisture content and degree of consolidation, pore water pressure, changes of settlement, bearing capacity with various vertical drains in waste lime were analyzed. The laboratory test results indicate that PBD is 2 times higher than circular drain in coefficient of consolidation. Based on the laboratory test results, settlement, pore water pressure, and dewatering measurements are shown in similar tendency. It is considered that PBD can drain primitive pore water much efficiently. The picture of SEM shows that circular drain filter has a serious clogging problem in comparison with PBD. In conclusion, PBD holds a superiority in waste lime's ground improvement and dewatering pore water pressure from the waste lime sludge. Also, circular drain is desired for some modification in its filtering system.
Recently, interest in emotional technology has escalated and its application has extended to many fields, from both an industrial (product) and service (culture, tourism, medical, education, advertising) perspective. Moreover, culture has become a fundamental aspect of modern industry, playing key roles in: gaming, exhibitions, performances, sports, tourism, design, edutainment, as well as various content distribution industries. The prospect of applying emotional technology for cultural content industries makes up for more than half of the 'plan-manufacture-distribution-marketing' process, and thereby also serves as driving force for the growth of a nation. The primary objective of the following research is analyze successful cases from the past through utilization of emotional technology, and to speculate on efficient directions for future research into developing emotional contents. To achieve this, some of the key terms have been defined and elaborated for the sake of clarity. The terms are as follows: emotion, emotion engineering, science of emotion, emotional technology, and emotional contents. Furthermore, studies were conducted based on the six different fields surrounding CT R&D to observe how projects involving emotional technology have succeeded both on a national and global scale. Based on this analysis, this research aims to develop personalized 'Concierge' service-providing contents, contents designed to maximize performance ability of humans, and contents that could be controlled simply via emotion to effectively spread the culture of Korea by focussing on 'fusion' content development. The following research data may hopefully serve as a basic reference to industries navigating towards emotional content development.

This study was conducted to search possibilities of the use of sludge from waterworks industry in the manufacturing of red clay bricks. Different compositions of the sludge were added into the raw materials of the bricks and required engineering characteristics of the manufactured bricks were examined. Compressive strength, plasticity, and surface absorption of the recycled bricks were analyzed and were compared with the bricks quality standard rules and regulation for quality assurance of the product. Compressive strength of the bricks made in a ratio 75% clay, 5% sludge and 20% silica was found 261.3 $kg_f/cm^3$ and that was comparable with first grade bricks standard. Compressive strength of the bricks made in a ratio 70% clay, 10% sludge, and 20% silica was found 249.9 $kg_f/cm^3$ while it was decreased to 217.3 $kg_f/cm^3$ when bricks were made in a ratio 65% clay, 15% sludge and 20% silica. However, these values of compressive strength were in agreement with the bricks quality standard. Surface absorption of the bricks made by the mixing of 20% silica with varying amount of sludge, i.e., 5%, 10%, and 20% was found 10%, 9.65% and 10.92% respectively. These values satisfied the quality standard of bricks of grade 1 and 2. Recycling of proper amount of sludge in bricks making could produce bricks of high engineering characteristics.
In recent years, IT advancement has brought out the new Internet communication environment such as online social network services, where people are connected in global network without temporal and spatial limitation. The popular use of online social network helps people share their experience and preference for specific products and services, thus holding large potential to significantly affect firms' business performance through Word-of-Mouth (WOM). This study examines the role of online social network in raising WOM effect on the movie industry by comparing with the similar role of Internet portal, another major online communication channel. Analyzing 109 movies and data from both Twitter and Naver movie, we found that significant WOM effect exists simultaneously in both Twitter and Naver movie. However, we also found that different figures of online viral effects exist depending on the popularity of movies. In the hit movie group, before the movie release, the WOM effect occurs only in Twitter while the WOM effect arises in both Twitter and Naver movie at the same time after the movie release. In the less-popular (or niche) movie group, the WOM effect occurs in both Twitter and Naver movie only before the movie release. Our findings not only deepen theoretical insights into different roles of the two online communication channels in provoking the WOM effect on entertainment products but also provide practitioners with incentive to utilize SNS as strategic marketing platform to enhance their brand reputations.
The purpose of this paper is to analysis sectoral patterns of technological innovation in Korean manufacturing sector. Pavitt(1984) put forward a well-known taxonomy that industries three groups of industries characterized by markedly different innovative modes, namely science-based, production-intensive and supplier-dominated industries. Using Pavitt's taxonomy as a framework, we try to explain similarities and differences among sectors in the sources and impact of innovations. Based on a sample of 2,371 firms in manufacturing industry, this paper investigated its relevance to explain the sources and directions of innovative activities in Korean industries. Empirical study shows that in supplier dominated firms most process innovations come from suppliers of equipment and materials. In science-based firms product innovation is produced internally, based on the rapid development of the underlying sciences in the universities and research institutes. It also shows that production-intensive firms have a positive association between innovativeness and customer collaboration. This explanation has implications for our understanding of the sources and directions of technical changes, the formation of technological advantages at the level of both region and country.
