  • As an important fishing ground in the southern coast of Korea, Jinhae Bay is characterized by a high level of fisheries production. However, its marine-ecosystem has shifted owing to environmental changes such as industrial development and high water temperatures over the decades. This study analyzes the fisheries production, discards, mean trophic level, and fishing-in-balance index using annual fishing data from five regions surrounding Jinhae Bay for the period 2005-2022, as well as using additional forecasting trends by 2027 using ARIMA (Auto Regressive Intergrated Moving Average). The results shows, that the production in Goseong will decrease continuously by 2027, as compared with that in other areas. Additionally, byproduct management is considered necessary in Tongyeong. For the marine-ecosystem index, Tongyeong indicates stable catch ratio of large fish species and a fishing-in-balance exceeding 0. Finally, the annual catch variation for six pelagic fish species in Jinhae Bay by 2060 is estimated based on the IPCC climate-change scenario, in which the recent low level that decreased to approximately 20 thousand ton in early 2020 is projected to recover to approximately 40 thousand ton in the 2020s and 2040s, followed by an incremental decline by 2060.

  • The Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex, having been completed over 50 years ago, is an old industrial complex, with deteriorating infrastructure and factory buildings. Despite this, there's a current urban industrial agglomeration centered on the machinery industry in the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex. This study aims to holistically analyze the physical deterioration of facilities in the aging industrial complex and the characteristics of industrial agglomeration to derive the identity of the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex. Based on the research findings, the complex is seeing an enhanced urban industrial agglomeration due to the influx of small-scale businesses resulting from concentrated trade networks in the metropolitan area and plot subdivision, permission for noise-producing processes, and the ease of securing highly-skilled technicians. However, this agglomeration coexists with a weakening of the complex's production function, limited innovativeness of resident companies, and non-innovative features resulting from weakened competitiveness in the metropolitan machinery industry. In summary, the identity of the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex is a 'Non-Innovative Urban Industry Agglomeration', an old industrial complex, witnessing non-innovative agglomeration based on a machinery industry network centered in the metropolitan area.

  • Although the industrial society gained people with material wealth, they were panic-stricken, felt in lack of everything, not to mention how fast the environment was destroyed. In the midst of this social flow, more and more people who became aware of the problems of the industrial society began to crave happy and beautiful lives through the combination of mental and physical health. This resulted in a new lifestyle called 'well-being'. Lohas, which has become a prominent figure through deep thoughts on social well-being is beyond the persuation of an individual's health and quality of life. Not only does Lohas propose a lifestyle for the mental and physical health of an individual, it also proposes sustainable consumption without hurting the world or the environment. The appearance of the Lohas provided an opportunity not only for people to look in a different aspect on the problems of pollution and ecosystem but to develop and design different products accordingly. Through furniture designs with the idea of lifestyles of health and sustainability applied, this thesis analyses how the main concept of the 3R-Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce is being applied and put to use productively in furniture design.

  • Industrialization and urbanization are modern need and trends. Such trends affect the natural ecosystem of rivers. Indian rivers face such problems in a high ratio. The aim of this study is to investigate the cause and amount of pollution in a tributary river Krishni. Pre-monsoon sampling of Krishni river water was performed as per APHA standard. Water samples were collected from different sites of Krishni river. Physiochemical parameters as well as trace elements concentrations have been analysed and results were compared with BIS-2012, WHO-2017 and EPA-2001 recommendations. The presence of high BOD, COD, TDS and others physiochemical parameters along with heavy metals reveals that tributary is highly polluted owing to industrial and domestic discharge either directly or through drains. High values of these parameters are harmful for the ecological health of the river because it makes survival of aquatic flora and fauna at risk. On the basis of the results obtained by the present study, it was concluded that level of the pollution in river Krishni is at alarming phase, where if strong action for the rejuvenation of river not takes place, river becomes a dead pool.
