A State-of-Charge estimation using extended Kalman filter for battery of electric vehicle (확장칼만필터를 이용한 전기자동차용 배터리 SOC 추정)

  • This paper reports a SOC(State-of-Charge) estimation method using the extended Kalman filter(EKF) algorithm, which can allow real-time implementation and reduce the error of the model and be robust against noise, to accurately estimate and evaluate the charging/discharging state of the EV(Electric Vehicle) battery. The battery was modeled as the first order Thevenin model for the EKF algorithm and the parameters were derived through experiments. This paper proposes the changed method, which can have the SOC to 0% ~ 100% regardless of the aging of the battery by replacing the rated capacity specified in the battery with the maximum chargeable capacity. In addition, This paper proposes the EKF algorithm to estimate the non-linearity interval of the battery and simulation result based on Ah-counting shows that the proposed algorithm reduces the estimation error to less than 5% in all intervals of the SOC.

Self-Adaptive Performance Improvement of Novel SDD Equalization Using Sigmoid Estimate and Threshold Decision-Weighted Error (시그모이드 추정과 임계 판정 가중 오차를 사용한 새로운 SDD 등화의 자기적응 성능 개선)

  • For the self-adaptive equalization of higher-order QAM systems, this paper proposes a new soft decision-directed (SDD) algorithm that opens the eye patterns quickly as well as significantly reducing the error level in the steady-state when it is applied to the initial equalization stage with completely closed eye patterns. The proposed method for M-QAM application minimized the computational complexity of the existing SDD by the symbol estimated based on the two symbols closest to the observation, and greatly simplified the soft decision independently of the QAM order. Furthermore, in the symbol estimating it increased the reliability of the estimates by applying the superior properties of the sigmoid function and avoiding the erroneous estimation of the threshold function. In addition, the initialization performance was improved when an error is generated to update the equalizer, weighting the symbol decision by the threshold function to the error, resulting in an extension of the range of error fluctuations. As a result, the proposed method improves remarkably the computational complexity and the properties of initialization and convergence of the traditional SDD. Through simulations for 64-QAM and 256-QAM under multipath channel conditions with additive noise, the usefulness of the proposed methods was confirmed by comparing the performance of the proposed 2-SDD and two forms of weighted 2-SDD with CMA.

The Study on Design of Circuit Card Assembly on Servo Control Unit for Automated Resupply Vehicle K56 (K56 탄약운반장갑차용 서보제어기의 회로카드조립체 설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the design of the circuit card assembly to eliminate the communication error on a servo control unit installed in the automated resupply vehicle K56. K56 is a weapon system that automates the supply and loading of ammunition on the K-55A1 self-propelled artillery. As the core item responsible for ammunition movement control, the servo control unit is required to have good communication stability and reliability, but the conventional unit has recognized a problem that communication error intermittently occurs, resulting in an emergency stop phenomenon. We analyzed the communication signal of the servo control unit and identified the failure cause of the circuit card assembly to solve this problem. In addition, the signal interference in data/address line of the circuit card assembly was confirmed through analysis of the failure cause, and redesigned to avoid the interference, such as adjustment of the distance between communication lines and position change. Finally, the proposed cause analysis and redesign were verified through the component of servo control unit and attachment test on K56. We expected these study results to be used as reference for the design of other similar items.

Development of depression diagnosis system using EEG signal (뇌파 측정 신호를 이용한 우울증 진단장치 개발)

  • In this study, a device was developed for diagnosing depression using EEG signals from July 2016 to June 2017. For normal people, the left alpha rhythm is more activated than the right alpha rhythm, but for the depressed patients, the right alpha rhythm is more activated than the left one. An analog circuit and digital low pass filter were used for noise removal and amplification of EEG, and the Hamming window function was applied to eliminate the signal leakage generated by the fast Fourier transform. To verify the validity of the developed diagnosis system, the EEG of 20 university students in the 3rd and 4th grade with an average age of 24 years was measured. Calculations of the relative value of the left and right alpha rhythm for the depression diagnosis revealed a minimum, maximum, and mean value of 66.7, 113.3, and 92.2, respectively. In addition, 7 out of 20 subjects were between 90 and 95, and those with a higher mean deviation of approximately 20 tended to have mild depression. These results can provide meaningful data for the development of depression treatment equipment by solving the left and right brain asymmetry problem, and it may be applied usefully to diagnose depression after clinical trials on a large number of depressed patients.

A Study on the estimation of shelf-life and assessment plan of illuminating cartridges for mortar (박격포용 조명탄의 저장수명 예측 및 평가방안 연구)

  • The cartridges used for illuminating a desired point or area are virtually limited in tests and evaluations because of limitations, such as noise during launch, the possibility of fires caused by illuminant charge, and the annual testable quantity. Therefore, to solve these problems, a ground fixed test, which replaces the firing test, or an evaluation method to perform limited tests, can be applied more efficiently. In this paper, the results of an 81mm illuminating cartridge, KM series performed in 2019 were analyzed comprehensively to identify the trends in reliability and quality characteristics and to estimate the shelf life. The shelf life was estimated to be at least 10 years based on the time when the lower confidence level reached 80% at a confidence level of 90%. Considering only major defects, the shelf life can be estimated to be approximately 23 years. On the other hand, the shelf life was estimated to be approximately 11 to 15 years and 25 to 28 years according to the effective illuminating time. Finally, an assessment plan of illuminating cartridges for the mortars was also presented as an improvement plan for an assessment method in the future.

A Process Optimization of HVOF on ALBC3 by Experiments Design (실험계획법을 이용한 ALBC3에 대한 고속화염용사의 최적 공정 설계)

  • Erosion and abrasion caused by cavitation damage occur in fluid equipment, such as ships or impellers. Similarly, the equipment damage from noise and vibration can shorten its life. This study analyzed the importance of the parameter characteristics of the process optimization of HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel spraying), which is generally used in a variety of industries for enhancing the resistibility from the cavitation phenomenon. The surface of the ALBC3 substrate was coated with an amorphous powder as a filler metal according to the experimental design using the Taguchi method, and then the characteristics with each parameter were analyzed using a porosity measurement test. The optimal process conditions was a combustion pressure of 80psi, coating distance of 270mm, gun speed of 200mm/s, and powder feed rate of 25g/min as a result of the HVOF coating by applying the experimental design. The combustion pressure, coating distance and powder feed rate were more than 25% and indicated a similar contribution rate, but the contribution rate of the gun speed was 19%, which was slightly less than the others. The contribution rate with each parameter was only slightly significant. On the other hand, all four parameters were found to be important in the contribution rate aspects of the HVOF coating process.

X-Band FMCW RADAR Signal Processing for small ship (소형선박용 X-Band FMCW 레이더 신호처리부 설계 및 구현)

  • Conventional marine radar systems utilize pulse radar which is capable of high-power transmissions and is effective for remote detection purposes. A pulse radar is most commonly used on medium or large vessels due to its expensive installation and maintenance costs. I propose the use of a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system operated at low-power and high-resolution instead of the conventional pulse-radar based system. The transmitted and received signals of the FMCW radar system were theoretically analyzed and radar signal processing design and simulation experiments were performed to detect the range and speed. Intermediate Frequency (IF) signal mixed with virtual transmit and receive signals were generated to perform FMCW radar signal processing simulations where the IF signal underwent noise reduction through a lowpass filter. The maximum frequency was derived through the sample interval of the FFT size instead of using A/D converter. This maximum frequency was used to get the frequency range and frequency speed which were in turn used to calculate the range and speed. The virtual beat frequency generated using MATLAB is utilized to analyze the beat frequency used in the actual FMCW radar system signal processing. The differences in the range and speed of the beat frequency signals are processed and analyzed.

Multirate Multicarrier DS/CDMA with 2-Domain Spreading (2차원 확산을 사용하는 다중전송률 MC-DS/CDMA 시스템)

  • Multicarrier-Direct Sequence/Code Division Multiple Access(MC-DS/ CDMA) which is a combination of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) and DS/CDMA has been of significant interest as a means to take such advantages as bandwidth efficiency, high bit rate and robustness against multipath fading. In this paper we study a reduced-complexity multiuser detection aided multirate MC-DS/CDMA with time(T)-domain and frequency(F)-domain spreading. The one- dimensional orthogonal variable spreading factor(1D OVSF) code extracted from 2D OVSF code are used as a spreading code in T/F-domain. The proposed system will use code grouping interference cancellation(CGIC) receiver to reduce Multiuser Interference(MUI). The CGIC receiver uses code grouping by the correlation properties of 1D OVSF code and dose not requires the code information and activity of other user. The multiuser detector with CGIC receiver will be analyzed in Time- and Frequency-domain separately(jointly). The system performance is analytically derived in Additive White Gaussian Noise(AWGN) channel and we also compare the system performance between proposed system and T/F spreaded single(multi) rate multiuser MC-DS/CDMA system. In the computer simulation results, the proposed receiver of demonstrated huge performance improvement over conventional matched filter receiver.

Double Encryption of Digital Hologram Based on Phase-Shifting Digital Holography and Digital Watermarking (위상 천이 디지털 홀로그래피 및 디지털 워터마킹 기반 디지털 홀로그램의 이중 암호화)

  • In this Paper, Double Encryption Technology Based on Phase-Shifting Digital Holography and Digital Watermarking is Proposed. For the Purpose, we First Set a Logo Image to be used for Digital Watermark and Design a Binary Phase Computer Generated Hologram for this Logo Image using an Iterative Algorithm. And Random Generated Binary Phase Mask to be set as a Watermark and Key Image is Obtained through XOR Operation between Binary Phase CGH and Random Binary Phase Mask. Object Image is Phase Modulated to be a Constant Amplitude and Multiplied with Binary Phase Mask to Generate Object Wave. This Object Wave can be said to be a First Encrypted Image Having a Pattern Similar to the Noise Including the Watermark Information. Finally, we Interfere the First Encrypted Image with Reference Wave using 2-step PSDH and get a Good Visible Interference Pattern to be Called Second Encrypted Image. The Decryption Process is Proceeded with Fresnel Transform and Inverse Process of First Encryption Process After Appropriate Arithmetic Operation with Two Encrypted Images. The Proposed Encryption and Decryption Process is Confirmed through the Computer Simulations.

Design of Experiment and Analysis Method for the Integrated Logistics System Using Orthogonal Array (직교배열을 이용한 통합물류시스템의 실험 설계 및 분석방법)

  • This paper presents the simulation design and analysis of Integrated Logistics System(ILS) which is operated by using the AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle). To maximize the operation performances of ILS with AGV, many parameters should be considered such as the number, velocity, and dispatching rule of AGV, part types, scheduling, and buffer sizes. We established the design of experiment in a way of Orthogonal Array in order to consider (1)maximizing the throughput; (2)maximizing the vehicle utilization; (3)minimizing the congestion; and (4)maximizing the Automated Storage and Retrieval System(AS/RS) utilization among various critical factors. Furthermore, we performed the optimization by using the simulation-based analysis and Evolution Strategy(ES). As a result, Orthogonal Array which is conducted far fewer than ES significantly saved not only the time but the same outcome when compared after validation test on the result from the two methods. Therefore, this approach ensures the confidence and provides better process for quick analysis by specifying exact experiment outcome even though it provides small number of experiment.
