Examination of Factors Influencing Urban Higher Temperature using E-GIS DB (E-GIS DB를 활용한 도시 고온화 영향인자 검토)

  • In this study, we performed urrban climate simulation how both the factor of environmental land and artificial factors influence on the formation of urban temperature. With deducing quantitative data, this study could get more accurate results of the urban temperature using urban climate simulation system. In the case of natural land cover, it appeared that there are effects on the lowering temperature and the lower temperature rate appeared in the water land cover on the whole. This is considered as temperature in water land was low because of the characteristics of water land having evaporation latent heat was high and convective sensible heat was low. In case of building which has building coverage ratio, 5% with 10 floors and building coverage ratio, 15 % with 6 floors, it appears that the temperature in the water land is $33.6^{\circ}C$. In case of building coverage ratio 5%, temperature dropped when buildings has more than 4 stories. This is regarded as the size of building is bigger, the temperature dropped in relatively because of the fluctuation of the rate of solar heat from the land. At the present time, the urban temperature are higher because of various artificial factors in the city. With these results, this study supposed to be a basies of the future studies for considering both the composition of building coverate ratio and floor plan.

Rank Decision of Ecological Environment Assessment Field Introducing Fuzzy Integral (퍼지적분을 도입한 생태환경평가부문의 순위결정)

  • This study was carried out to provide guidance to environmental policy makers when deciding which assessment fields (biotic, abiotic, qualitative, functional) should have priority for ecological preservation and to develop an objective and scientific methodology by introducing the engineering concept of the fuzzy integral. The grant of weights was used the eigenvalues calculated by factor analysis, and the converted values of indicators were obtained in multiplying the arithmetic values and eigenvalues. The results of the appropriateness and reliability of assessment fields were examined over 0.6, and the results showed that the design of questionnaire presented no great problems. When the fuzzy integral was calculated to determine the rankings at ${\lambda}$=1, 2, 3, 4, 5, respectively, they were 0.646, 0.630, 0.943, 1.423, and 1.167 for the biotic field, 1.298, 1.400, 0.901, 0.580, and 1.456 for the abiotic field, 0.714, 0.674, 0.346, 0.674, and 1.610 in the qualitative field and 1.000, 0.973, 0.943, 1.024, and 1.008 in the functional field. The sensitivity to ${\lambda}$ value showed that ${\lambda}=4$ was the most suitable. In comparison with ${\lambda}=0$ (the arithmetic mean), the range of change was narrow. Because the range for ${\lambda}=4$ was narrower than my other values, ${\lambda}=4$ was sure to be available in ranking-decision. The fuzzy integral is expected to be a method for analyzing and filtering human thoughts. In the future, in order to overcome linguistic uncertainty and subjectivity, other fuzzy integral models including Sugeno's method, AHP, and so forth should be used.

Combustion Characteristics and Design of Fiber Mat Catalytic Burners (매트 형태 연소촉매를 사용하는 촉매버너의 구조와 연소특성)

  • Flameless fiber mat catalytic burners have been known as an effective heat source in industrial drying processes since heat obtained from combustion can be transferred to absorptive body by far-infrared radiation. In order to extend the application of fiber mat catalytic burner, novel fiber mat catalytic burners were manufactured and combustion characteristics of them were investigated. For diffusive catalytic burners, the efficiency of combustion was significantly affected by the installation direction and the temperature of catalytic bed perimeter influenced on the diffusion rate of oxygen which determined the combustion efficiency of catalytic burner. It was seen in premixed catalytic combustion that air content in premixed fuel gas was optimized at slightly higher than theoretical amount of air. Combustion heat released higher than 70% by radiant heat in premixed catalytic combustion likewise diffusive catalytic combustion.

Tillage Characteristics of the Single-Edged Rotary Blade (단면형 로터리경운날의 경운 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to developed high-efficient rotary tillage system for a power tiller by improving the rotary blade. A kind of the rotary blade with single-edged blade(DS) was developed that requires lower tillage energy than conventional double-edged blade(CD) on the design theory for Japanese rotary blade. In order to find out the tillage characteristics between the single-edged blade and the double-edged blade for power tiller, experiments were performed in soil-bins which were filled up clay loam, loam and sandy loam, and then analyzed the effects of the factors such as soil texture, travelling speed, rotational speed, and tillage depth to each of the blades. And field tests were carried out to compare tillage performances of the two blades using rotary cultivator driven by conventional power tiller. The results of this study were summarized as follows; 1) On the soil bin experiment, it was found that tillage torque of the single-edged blade was less than the ones of the double-edged blade. The decreasing ratios of maximum tillage torque of the single-edged blade to the ones of the double-edged blade were 1 to 8% at clay loam, 5 to 20% at loam and 9 to 31% at sandy loam, respectively. 2) By the field tests, that the tillage performances with the single-edged blade compared with the double-edged blade was improved about 19% in field capacity, about 34% in fuel consumption, and 12.5% in soil breaking ratio. Furthermore, the fluctuation of engine speed, the variation of exhaust gas temperature, and the amount of soil clogging on the blade and straw wound on the rotary shaft showed lower values with the developed blade than the conventional blade. So, it may be concluded that tillage performance by the developed single-edged blade was improved compared with the one by the conventional double-edged blade.

  • In the port, Yard Crane is very important. If container crane or transfer crane broke down, it costs much money for delaying of work during the period of repair or reorder. But, we can not have enough spare parts for its high cost. It is necessary for having the reliability of crane through the effective preventive maintenance and failure analysis. In this paper, we analysed the system's function and failure mechanism of transfer crane which is main equipment in the yard. Also, we standardized the failure and maintenance work using the historical data of failure and maintenance. This study which is the basic work for IT of equipment operation and maintenance is going to be new attempt for optimal design of next generation equipment and operation policy of equipment.

Characteristics of Rutting and Moisture Susceptibility of R-EPDM Modified Asphalt Mixtures (R-EPDM 개질아스팔트 혼합물의 소성변형 및 수분민감성 특성)

  • This study evaluates the laboratory properties of asphalt binder and mixture modified with R-EPDM(Recycling Ethylene Propylene Dien Monometer), which consists of R-EPDM as a main ingredient that is an industrial by-product made by manufacturing waste EPDM below 50 mesh as an additive. Superpave system was used to determine the PG(Performane Grade) and evaluate the property of R-EPDM modified binder. OACs(Optimum Asphalt Contents) of R-EPDM modified asphalt mixtures were determined by Superpave mix design using gyratory compactor and wheel tracking test and moisture susceptibility test were carried out with R-EPDM modified asphalt mixtures at OACs. The results from these tests, rutting-resistance and freezing and thawing resistance by moisture susceptibility of R-EPDM modified asphalt mixtures were superior to one of general asphalt mixtures(AP-5).

Estimation for Dynamic Deformation of the Cushioning Materials of Packaging for the Pears by Shock and Vibration During Transportation (유통 중 진동충격에 의한 배 포장 완충재의 동적 변위 추정)

  • During handling unitized products, they are subjected to a variety environmental hazards. Shock and vibration hazards are generally considered the most damaging of the environmental hazards on a product, and it may encounter while passing through the distribution environment. A major cause of shock damage to products is drops during manual handling. The increasing use of unitization on pallets has been resulted in a reduction in the manual handling of products and with it a reduction in the shock hazards. This has caused and increasing interest in research focused on vibration caused damage. the use of pallets as a base for unitizing loads, aids in the mechanical handling, transportation and storage of products. Besides aiding in the handling, transportation and storage of products, a pallet also acts on and interface between the packaged goods and the distribution environment. The determination of the impact deformation of the cushioning materials such as tray cup (polymeric foam) and corrugated fiberboard pad must be carried out to design the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. In this study, the theoretical analysis of impact deformation for cushioning materials by dynamic vibration. The impact deformations of SW and DW corrugated fiberboard pad in acceleration amplitudes of 0.25 G-rms and 0.5 G-rms that were usually generated in transport vehicles during distribution environments were very small compare with the thickness of corrugated fiberboard pad. The maximum of vibration acceleration level of tray cup by vibration impact was about 3.2 G-rms. The theoretical allowable acceleration (G-factor) of the pear was 0.7102 G-rms, and the maximum dynamic deformation estimated within G-factor was about 1 mm.

  • The detection process of defective tags in most of Korean domestic RFID manufacturing companies is handled or treated by on-hand processing after the job of chip bonding, so it has been requesting to reduce the time and cost for manufacturing of RFID tags. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement the system to perform the functionality of detection of defective tags after the process of chip bonding, and so provide the basis of a related software to establish the foundation of a automation system for the detection of defected RFID tags which is requested in the related Korean domestic industrial field. The developed system in this paper shows the enhancement of 700% in processing speed and 100% in detection rate of defective tags, comparing to the method of on-hand processing.

  • Recent advances in wireless communication, electronics, MEMS device, sensor and battery technology have made it possible to manufacture low-cost, low-power, multi-function tiny sensor nodes. A large number of tiny sensor nodes form sensor network through wireless communication. Sensor networks represent a significant improvement over traditional sensors, research on Zigbee wireless image transmission has been a topic in industrial and scientific fields. In this paper, we design a Zigbee wireless image sensor node and multimedia monitoring server system. It consists of embedded processor, memory, CMOS image sensor, image acquisition and processing unit, Zigbee RF module, power supply unit and remote monitoring server system. In the future, we will further improve our Zigbee wireless image sensor node and monitoring server system. Besides, energy-efficient Zigbee wireless image transmission protocol and interworking with mobile network will be our work focus.

  • This paper is to analyze the efficiency of power consumption in logistic systems that are based on self-driving roller conveyors by the simulation technology. The improvement of the efficiency brings advantages for reducing greenhouse gas emission and logistics costs. A self-driving roller conveyor is operated only when products are loaded on itself. Thus, the self-driving roller conveyor systems consume less electric power than continuous-driving roller conveyor systems. In this paper, we design a DEVS (Discrete-Event based System) based simulation model and construct self-driving roller and continuous-driving roller conveyor models. For the verification and validation of the designed simulation system and conveyor models, we model a corresponding logistic model for the experimental environment and compare between the model and a real system. The main objective of this paper is to describe the power consumption advantage of self-driving roller conveyor based logistic systems using a simulation method.
