유도가열을 이용한 후판 예열공정 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of Thick Plate Preheating Process Using Induction Heating)

  • Induction heating has been applied to the preheating process in various industrial fields. It has been used as a simple device structure, limiting the heating zone through controlled variables, and free-welding positions. It would be helpful to weld thick plates with arc welding such as GMAW. The induction heating process is well suited to this process. In this study, in order to find suitable induction heating parameters, a simulation was conducted with multi physics S/W. Three kinds of material were heated by induction coils designed specially for thick plate. Consequently, steel and nimonic alloy were the most efficient materials for preheating by induction. It can be concluded that the induction heating process is a good method for preheating the thick plate.

  • Korean Fusion Reactor(KSTAR) system consists of a vacuum vessel, in-vessel components, cryostat, thermal shield, super-conducting magnets and magnet supporting structures. These systems are in the final stage of engineering design with the involvement of industrial manufacturers. The overall configuration and the detailed dimensions of the KSTAR structure have been determined and the first stage of manufacturing is progressing now. In this study, the fabrication and assembly sequence were evaluated in viewpoint of high strengthening joints and very high accuracy. Especially for this purpose, the special cleaning process and welding process were proposed for high strengthening austenitic stainless steel which shall be used at cryogenic temperature. The draft procedure qualification data for welding process are presented with precise welding data including special narrow groove design. For the cooling line attachment on the surface of inside wall of magnet structure case, Induction brazing technology is introduced with some special jigging system and some consumables.

유도가열을 이용한 강판성형공정에서 유도코일 형상의 효과 (Effects of Inductor Shape in Steel Forming Process with High Frequency Induction Heating)

  • Because of high intensity and easy controllability of the heat source, high frequency induction heating has been concerned and studied for the steel forming process in the ship building industry. However, the heating and forming characteristics have to be further properly modelled and analyzed for the process to be utilized with its optimal working parameters. In this study, a modelling with thermo-elasto-plastic analysis is performed using the FEM to study heat flow and deformation of the steel plate during the forming process with the electro-magnetic induction heating. The numerical model is then used to study the effect of the inductor shape on the magnitude of angular deformation of the plate during the forming process. It is revealed that the square shape of inductor induces the largest deformation among the rectangular inductors.

  • Induction heating of float metal products has an increasing importance in many applications, because it generates the heat within workpiece itself and provides high power densities and productivity. In this study, the induction heating of a steel plate to simulate the line heating is investigated by means of the Finite Element Analysis of the magnetic field and temperature distribution. A numerical model is used to calculate temperature distribution within the steel plate during the induction heating with a specially designed inductor. The effects of materital properties depending on the temperature and magnetic field are taken into consideration in an iterative manner. The simulation results show good magnetic field with experimental data and provide good understanding of the process. Since the numerical model demonstrates to be suitable for analysis of induction heating process, the effects of air gap and frequency on magnetic-flux and power-density distribution are also investigated. It is revealed that these process parameters have an important roles on the electro-magnetic field and power-density distribution governing the temperature distribution of the plate.

  • 용접예열은 본 용접 전에 금속이 융착되는 모재면을 일정한 온도로 가열하는 것을 의미한다. 냉각속도 조절에 따른 재료 경화 정도 감소, 불순물 편석억제, 열적 변형방지, 그리고 수분제거 등 인접 영향부의 균열을 방지할 수 있다. 이러한 이유에서 고품질의 용접을 위하여 반드시 필요한 작업이다. 유도가열은 전자기유도 현상을 응용하여 전기에너지를 열에너지로 변환시키는 효율적인 가열방식이다. 기체 및 액체를 이용한 연소발열과 비교하여 신속한 가열뿐만 아니라 청결하고, 안정적이며, 경제적이다. 단순한 구조로 주파수와 코일의 형태를 변형하여 가열체의 형상, 깊이, 재질에 관계없이 가열할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 유도가열 기법을 이용하여 저주파 용접예열 시스템을 구현하였으며, 3종의 자동차 변속기 부품을 대상으로 권선코일 내에서 각 변속기 높이에 따라 권선코일 저항, 인덕턴스 및 자동차 변속기 부품의 온도변화를 관찰한 결과 전류의 변화는 저주파 가열에 있어 매우 중요한 요인으로 작용함을 확인하였다.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the optimum drawing parameter for BAS121 welded tubes. The BAS121 aluminium alloy tubes with 25 mm in external diameter and 1.3 mm in thickness for heat-exchangers were manufactured by high frequency induction welding with the V shaped convergence angle $6.5^{\circ}$ and power input 55 kW. With increasing the reduction of area ($13,\;21\%$) by drawing, tensile strength was increased and elongation was decreased. With increasing the reduction of area by drawing, hardness in weld metal increased rapidly, while that of base metal increased slowly. In the specimen with the outer diameter smaller than 22 mm, hardness of weld metal was higher than that of base metal. The optimum drawing parameter of area reduction in BAS121 alloys was estimated about $13\%$ because of the work hardening of welds.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the full annealing parameter for A3003 Al alloy welded tubes. The A3003 Al alloy tubes with 34 mm in external diameter and 1.3 mm in thickness for OPC drum were manufactured by high frequency induction welding with the V shaped convergence angle $6.7^{\circ}$ and power input 50 kW. The tensile and yield strength decreased with increasing the annealing temperature and time remarkably, but elongation increased remarkably. Vickers hardness in welds and base metal decreased with increasing the annealing temperature and time remarkably. In a certain experimental condition, the welds line in A3003 alloys disappeared at $520^{\circ}C$ for 4hr because of the same mechanical properties and structures between welds and base metal.
