유도전동기를 발전기로 사용시 동작 특성 해석 (Analysis for the Operating Characteristics when the Induction Motor is Used as a Generator)

  • Squirrel cage induction motor is the main driving system of industrial field and familiar with its use in a large variety of applications. The structure and operating characteristics of induction generator is almost identical to induction motor, but the induction generator part is used restrictively from hydropower power and wind power development etc. Recently induction generator is commonly used for micro & small hydro power applications due to its simplicity, reliability, low cost and robustness. Input and output of induction motor has turned against at the induction generator operation. Rotation speed of induction generator is small faster than synchronous speed of induction motor. As output of induction machines increases with the increasement of speed, so loss is same. Actually, generator efficiency is lower than motor at this condition. If induction generator is connected with mechanical load such as increaser, total efficiency is decreased. Consequently the quality in compliance with an induction motor parameter applying like that in the generator is a possibility of having the error of some. In this paper, we analyzed that input, output, torque and efficiency of induction machine is different from each other above and below synchronous speed.

However, many engineer are unfamiliar with the induction generator, even though no difference exists between both machines except for the mode of operation. But an induction generator is commonly used for micro & small hydro power applications due to its simplicity, reliability, low cost and robustness.   • This paper is concerned with the simulation and determination of the input voltage and frequency for the optimal efficiency operation of induction motors. In general, induction motors have a specific character that operation efficiency is dropped sharply at the light roads condition. Consequently, if the induction motor is controlled by high efficiency using the VVVF(variable voltage variable frequency) control methods at optimal values, the entire system can obtain the substantial energy savings from the efficiency improvement in induction motors. In this paper, optimal slip is derived from the modeling of an induction motor and the optimal hybrid-control method is suggested by the simulation of the proposed algorithm for a 3-phase induction motor.

  • This paper proposes the control algorithm for maximum efficiency drive of PWM inverter - induction motor system with high dynamic performance. If the induction motor is driven under light load with rated magnetizing current, the Iron loss is excessively large compared with the codder loss which results in doer motor efficiency. Maximum efficiency drive of an induction motor can be achieved by controlling the magnetizing current to satisfy the optimal ratio that leads the total motor loss to be a minimum value at a given speed. The proposed control algorithm essentially uses vector control technique and adopts voltage decoupling control strategy to prevent the degradation of dynamic performance due to reduced magnetizing current. To verify the proposed method, digital simulations and experiments are carried out for a squirrel-cage induction motor with the rating of 2.2[kW].

Vector Control of Induction Motors using Optimal Efficiency Control

  • This paper presents the control algorithm for maximum efficiency drives of an induction motor system with the high dynamic performance. This system uses a simple model of the induction motor that includes equations of the iron losses. The model, which only requires the parameters of the induction motor, is referred to a field-oriented frame. The minimum point of the input power can be obtained at the steady state condition. The proposed optimal efficiency control algorithm calculates the reference torque and flux currents for the vector control of the induction motors. A 32 bit floating point TMS320C32 DSP chip implements the drive system with the efficiency optimization controller. The results show the effectiveness of the control strategy Proposed for the induction motor drive.

  • 고효율 유도전동기는 일반 유도전동기의 발생 손실을 절감시킨 것으로 적은 소비전력으로 에너지를 절약하고, 운전비용이 낮아서 단기간에 초기 설비투자 비용회수가 가능하고, 온도상승이 크지 않아 전동기 수명을 연장시킬 수 있다. 이에 포스코아에서는 이제까지의 경험을 바탕으로 전기 연구원과 협력하여 고효율 유도전동기 개발에 나섰다. 본 논문에서는 고효율 유도전동기 소형모터금형개발에 관하여 연구하였다.

  • Stator core loss has significant adverse effects when an induction motor is controlled by the conventional vector control method. Therefore, taking core toss into account should make it possible to control the torque very precisely. This paper proposes a speed sensorless vector control method for an induction motor at optimum efficiency and high response taking core loss account. The proposed vector control system consists of a speed adaptive rotor flux observer which takes core loss into account and employs a direct vector control which compensates for the influence of core loss. Also, in this paper, a vector controlled induction motor with a deadbeat rotor flux controller is developed. The method ensures optimum efficiency in the steady state without degradation of the dynamic response. The validity of the proposed technique is confirmed by simulation results for induction motor drive system.

  • The characteristics of an induction motor vary with the number of parameters and the performance relationship between the parameters also is implicit. In case of the induction motor design, we generally should estimate many objective physical quantities in the optimization procedure. In this article, the multi objective design optimization based on genetic algorithm is applied for the three phase induction motor. The efficiency, starting torque, and material cost are selected for the objectives. The validity of the design results is also clarified by comparison between calculated results and measured ones.

  • 고효율 유도전동기 금형기술은 고효율 유도전동기의 핵심 부품인 코어(철심)의 제조를 위한 핵심기술이며, 전동기 산업분야의 국가경쟁력 제고를 위해서는 필수적으로 확보하여야 하는 기술 이다. 본 논문에서는 고효율 유도 전동기용 코어를 소형과 대형의 2벌의 프로토 타입 금형으로 설계 및 제작하여 프레스에 장착하여 시험타출하였고 그 결과를 고찰하였다.
