Analysis and lest of On-line and off-line PD Testing for High Voltage Rotating Machines Stator Windings using Ceramic Coupler (세라믹 커플러를 이용한 고전압회전기 고정자권선의 On-line 및 off-line 부분방전 특성 시험 및 분석)

  • Partial discharge(PD) test can be performed either when the rotating machine is not operating(off-line) or during normal machine operation(on-line). This paper presents an on-line and off-line PD test on a large hydro-generator and induction motor using the same PD acquisition system(PDAS) and ceramic coupler(CC) sensor. PD signal characteristics of CC sensor proved similar with that of epoxy mica coupler(EMC) sensor as a results of PD test for simulated defect winding and frequency response test. A comparison of on-line and off-line PD test for PD characteristic parameters-phase resolved PD(PRPD), maximum PD value(Qmax) and PD occurrence energy(POE)-indicated that on-line PD test could reliably and effectively diagnose insulation conditions which were verified by off-line PD test.

  • Nowadays, it is a global trend to build refinery or chemical plants with an isolated system in a place distant from the center of a city. In the refinery or chemical plants equipped with an isolated system, induced motors mostly take the load, and the scale of high-voltage electric motors reaches from several kW up to several MW. Therefore, it is needed to examine the effects of electric motors on the power system closely in the stages of planning and designing a plant to build a stable power system. This study is aimed to investigate how to decide rated voltage in consideration of stability which has not been considered in the stages of planning and designing so far in order to secure stability for the power system.

An Evaluation of Voltage Source PAWM Inverter by Torque Ripple Content (토오크 맥동량에 의한 전압원 PAWM 인버터의 평가)

  • In this paper, a new HTF(Harmonic torque function) which takes into account the phasor of harmonic current, and which represents torque ripple content of induction motor is proposed. Through experiments and computer simulations using direct-quadrature two axis model, the proposed HTF is proved to be valid. Applying this function, six-step, SPWM and TPWM pulse-amplitude-width-controlled inverters are evaluated and compared with each other. A good control strategy for PAWM inverters was chosen from the results. It turns out that TPWM is superior to SPWM in torqur ripple content and output voltage amplitude of fundamental wave and six-step is better than PWM when CR is 9.

The Effect of Fluid Flow on the Primary Particle of Al-7wt%Si Alloy in Electromagnetic Stirring (전자교반시 Al-7wt%Si합금의 초정입자에 미치는 유동의 영향)

  • In this study, to gain the semi-solid alloy we employed the electromagnetic rotation by a induction motor of 3-phases and 2-poles for Al-7wt%Si alloy and observed the size of primary solid particle, distribution state of primary solid particle, the degree of sphericity, and fraction of primary solid for the evaluation of its results. The size of primary solid particle increases from $98{\mu}m$ to $118{\mu}m$ as solid fraction increases from 0.2 to 0.5. The degree of sphericity increased as the solid fraction increased. Solid particles obtained from the microstructures of isothermally held sample were coarsened and the degree of sphericity was enhanced as isothermal holding time increased. However, when the sample was stirred for more than 40min, solid particles merged together and liquid phase was entrapped within the cluster of solid particles. The size of primary solid particle was not changed significantly with the variation of input voltages by 160V over which solid particles began to merge together to be a large cluster of about $170{\mu}m$ at 180V. The standard deviation and the degree of sphericity were not changed significantly with the variation of input voltage.

  • This paper presents harmonic evaluation of an IAT(Intra Airport Transit) system in Incheon International Airport. It will be used electric vehicles with 80 kW per car that are produced Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, and one car is constructed with SIV(Static Inverter), VVVF(Variable Voltage and Variable Frequency) and two induction motor. The operated vehicles in the IAT system are rapidly changing DC load, and at a feeding substation, 3-phase electric power is transferred to DC 750 V by rectifier. Since, vehicles are also changing continuously, the voltages for the DC load fluctuate in the IAT system, and moreover, the fluctuating voltages generate high-order harmonics. This means that there is the difficulty in maintaining power quality in KEPCO systems' side. Therefore, the power quality of the IAT system in Incheon International Airport is evaluated using PSCAD/EMTDC simulator in the paper. The THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) of voltages and TDD(Total Demand Distortion) of currents, indices are calculated for the IAT system using the results of PSCAD/EMTDC dynamic simulation.

  • In the case of Linear induction motor(LIM), numerical analysis method like Finite Element Method(FEM) has been mainly used to analyze the travelling magnetic field problem which includes the velocity-induced electromotive force. If the problem including the velocity-induced electromotive force is analyzed by FEM using Galerkin method, the solution can be oscillated according to Peclet Number, which is determined by conductivity, permeability, moving velocity and size of mesh. Consequently, the accuracy of the solution can be low and the Loops of flux can be occurred at the secondary back-iron. These loops of flux occurred at the secondary back-iron does not exist physically, but it can be occurred in the analysis. In this case, the loops of flux can be generally removed by using Up-Wind method which is impossible to apply a conventional S/W tool(Maxwell 2D). Therefore, in this paper, authors examined the Loops of flux occurred at the secondary back-iron of LIM according to variations of Peclet Number, and analyzed whether these loops of flux affect on the thrust force characteristics of LIM or not.

  • Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are increasingly employed for PWM inverter fed induction motor drive. Among various popular PWM methods used, Selective Harmonic Elimination PWM (SHEPWM) has been widely accepted for its better harmonic elimination capability. In addition, using SHEPWM, it is also possible to maintain better voltage regulation. Hence, in this paper, an attempt has been made to apply Bacterial Foraging Algorithm (BFA) for solving selective harmonic elimination problem. The problem of voltage harmonic elimination together with output voltage regulation is drafted as an optimization task and the solution is sought through proposed method. For performance comparison of BFA, the results obtained are compared with other techniques such as derivative based Newton-Raphson method, and Genetic Algorithm. From the comparison, it can be observed that BFA based approach yields better results. Further, it provides superior convergence, reduced computational burden, and guaranteed global optima. The simulation results are validated through experimental findings.

  • 철도차량용 선형추진시스템에 있어서, 지상레일에 설치되는 선형유도전동기의 2차측의 리액션플레이트의 시공 공차에 의해서 발생되는 1차측과의 공극의 변화는 추진 시스템의 운행 시 승차감과 기기효율을 떨어뜨리는 결과를 초래하기 때문에 선형유도전동기의 균일 공극 운전은 추진 시스템의 효율을 증가시킬 수 있는 중요한 사항이다. 또한 경사구간에서의 선형유도전동기의 공극길이 조절을 통해서 선형유도 전동기의 용량 변경 없이 추력을 증가시키는 것이 가능하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 선형유도전동기의 공극 길이를 제어할 수 있으며, 공극 길이제어를 통하여 추진 시스템의 성능 변화를 살펴볼 수 있는 축소 모델선형유도전동기 성능시험기의 공극조절 시스템의 동적 모델링 및 특성 해석을 통하여 시스템을 구성하는 파라미터들의 특성 변화 분석 및 시스템 구현 가능성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다.

  • 일반적으로 시스템 인식과 제어에 이용하는 다층 신경회로망은 기존의 역전파 알고리즘을 이용한다. 그러나 결선강도에 대한 오차의 기울기를 구하는 방법이기 때문에 국부적 최소점에 빠지기 쉽고, 수렴속도가 매우 늦으며 초기 결선강도 값들이나 학습계수에 민감하게 반응한다. 이와 같은 단점을 개선하기 위하여 확장된 칼만 필터링 기법을 역전파 알고리즘에 결합하였으나 계산상의 복잡성 때문에 망의 크기가 증가하면 실제 적용할 수 없다. 최근 신경회로망을 선형과 비선형 구간으로 구분하고 칼만 필터링 기법을 도입하여 수렴속도를 빠르게 하고 초기 결선강도 값에 크게 영향을 받지 않도록 개선하였으나, 여전히 은닉층의 선형 오차값을 역전파 알고리즘에 의해서 계산하기 때문에 학습계수에 민감하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 위에서 언급한 기존의 신경회로망 알고리즘의 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 은닉층의 목표값을 최적기법에 의하여 직접계산하고 각각의 결선강도 값은 반복최소 자승법으로 온라인 학습하는 알고리즘을 제안하고 이들 신경회로망 알고리즘과 비교하고자 한다. 여러 가지 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 제안된 방법이 초기 결선강도에 크게 영향을 받지 않으며, 기존의 학습계수 선정에 따른 문제점을 해결함으로써 신경회로망 모델에 기초한 실시간 제어기 설계에 응용할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, 유도전동기의 속도추정과 제어에 적용하여 좋은 결과를 보였다.

  • Most of all, DTC drive is very simple in its implementation because it needs only two hysteresis comparator and switching vector table for both flux and torque control. The switching strategy of a conventional direct torque control scheme which is based on hysteresis comparator results in a variable switching frequency which depends on the speed, flux, stator voltage and the hysteresis of the comparator. The amplitude of hysteresis band greatly influences on the drive performance such as flux and torque ripple and inverter switching frequency. In this paper the influence of the amplitudes of flux and torque hysteresis bands and sampling time of control program on the torque and flux ripples are investigated. Simulation results confirm the superiority of the DTC under the proposed method over the conventional DTC.
