  • The objective of this study is to develop Home Indoor Air Quality evaluation prorgram considering planning and construction stage for architects, engineers and occupants to estimate and improve the IAQ of a home. In this study, the IAQ modeling technique was discussed to determine the appropriate modeling of housing unit in Korea. The program algorithm was developed based on the selected model reflecting planning and construction stage. This program can be applied to estimate the IAQ of a home and encourage appropriate action in advance.

퍼지 로직 적용 PID 제어를 이용한 멀티형 열펌프의 용량조절 (Capacity Modulation of a Multi-Type Heat Pump System using PID Control with Fuzzy Logic)

  • Performance of a water-to-water multi-type heat pump system using R22 which has tow indoor units has been investigated experimentally. The refrigerant flow rate of each indoor unit was regulated by an electronic expansion valve and the total refrigerant flow rate of the system was controlled by a variable speed compressor. In the system, evaporator outlet pressure of refrigerant and outlet temperatures of secondary fluid from indoor units were selected as control variables. Experiments were executed for both cooling and heating modes using PID control method with fuzzy logic, and results of the test are compared with a classical PID method. In the case of PID control with fuzzy logic, the fuzzy control rules corrects PID parameters each time. Results show that PID control with fuzzy logic has the merits of quick response and reduced overshoot.

  • More than 7 million people use the Seoul metropolitan subway network daily. This number tends to increase due to the increase of oil price. Indoor air quality of electrical multiple unit (EMU) is strongly affected by outdoor air quality, however, indoor thermal comfort is subjected to heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system of EMU. In general, air temperature, humidity, air velocity, surface temperature, and illumination are key parameters affecting thermal comfort of passenger. It is known that the well-designed HVAC system should improve the thermal comfort of passengers and should increase the energy efficiency of HVAC system also. In this study, we analyzed the thermal comfort of advanced EMU developed by Korea Railroad Research Institute by using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in order to find the optimum HVAC system which can improve thermal comfort of passengers with a minimal energy use.

Unlabeled Wi-Fi RSSI Indoor Positioning by Using IMU

  • Wi-Fi Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) is considered one of the most important sensor data types for indoor localization. However, collecting a RSSI fingerprint, which consists of pairs of a RSSI measurement set and a corresponding location, is costly and time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a Wi-Fi RSSI learning technique without true location data to overcome the limitations of static database construction. Instead of the true reference positions, inertial measurement unit (IMU) data are used to generate pseudo locations, which enable a trainer to move during data collection. This improves the efficiency of data collection dramatically. From an experiment it is seen that the proposed algorithm successfully learns the unsupervised Wi-Fi RSSI positioning model, resulting in 2 m accuracy when the cumulative distribution function (CDF) is 0.8.

공동주택 단위주호의 환경친화성 평가요소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Environment-friendly Assessment Elements for Apartment Unit Plan)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest environment-friendly assessment elements for the apartment unit plan. For this, the organizing environments of a unit are classified through literature review. Those were five categories of environment: environment of solar system, light, water, green and indoor air Quality. Then, the assessment elements for each categorized environment to evaluate the environment-friendly performance were grasped definitely by examining the applicability of architectural methods or equipment technology. It is expected to suggest not only an assessment tool for evaluation but also a checklist for design in order to develope environment-friendly apartment unit plans.

  • Electric Multiple Unit is one of the major mass public transportation systems and passengers are under the influence of indoor air quality such as air temperature, relative humidity and concentration of CO2 gas. Therefore ventilation system of Electric Multiple Unit should be designed for both healthy and comfortable environments. We survey the optimal ventilation rate and the permissible CO2 concentration in the saloon with the consideration of the cooling and heating capacity and fresh air induced from tunnel.

공동주택의 적정 환기량 및 필터의 선정 - 실내입자농도를 중심으로 - (Selection of Ventilation Rate and Filter for a Residential Housing in View of Indoor Particle Concentration)

  • Ventilation rate and filter were selected to simultaneously satisfy indoor air quality and minimize energy consumption in residential housing. The concentrations of indoor particles were calculated using an adapted mass balance model for various ventilation airflow rates. To satisfy the guidelines for indoor concentrations of particles, the minimum ventilation rates of 1.0/h, 0.6/h and 0.4/h were required for MERV11, MERV13 and MERV14, respectively. And the fan power consumptions induced by ducts, a heat exchanger and a filter were calculated for various ventilation airflow rates. The increase in the ventilation rate caused a dramatic increase in the power consumption, but the filter performance did not have much of an effect on the fan power for ventilation airflow rates lower than 0.4/h. The use of the ventilation filter of MERV 14 was suggested at a ventilation rate of 0.4/h when the fan power consumptions were considered in addition to the indoor concentrations of particles and $CO_2$. The use of the MERV14 filter at a ventilation rate of 0.6/h could be more effective than the additional use of an indoor air cleaner when the residential housing unit was ventilated.

초등학교 실내외 미세먼지 농도 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Concentrations of Indoor and Outdoor Particulate Matters in Elementary Schools)

  • 초등학생들은 학교에서 많은 시간을 보내고 있으며 실내 공기오염에 더 많이 노출된다. 또한 초등학생들은 신체적으로 성장기에 있으며 어른에 비해 단위체중당 호흡량이 많으므로 실내 공기오염에 대한 민감도가 큰 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 학교 실내공기질은 초등학생들의 건강을 위한 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 서울지역 5개 초등학교에서 측정한 실내외 미세먼지 (Particulate matter: PM) 농도를 이용하여 상관분석을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 실외 PM이 실내 PM에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 또한 PM ratio, I/O ratio 등과 같은 통계분석을 진행하였다. 그 결과 초등학교의 실내외 PM의 상관성은 PM10보다 PM2.5와 PM1에서 더 유의미하게 나타났다. Indoor/outdoor (I/O) ratio의 경우 PM10에서 SD를 제외한 4개 초등학교에서 모두 1보다 높게 나타났다 (BB: 2.21, NS: 1.67, IS: 1.73, SI: 1.17). 이는 실내 학생의 활동도가 PM10의 농도에 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다.
