  • Among the recent environmental pollution, indoor air pollution has an adverse effect on the health of indoor residents. Radon, one of the causes of indoor air pollution, is released from concrete, gypsum board and asbestos slate among building materials. Radon is a primary carcinogen and is a colorless, tasteless, odorless inert gas that adheres to airborne dust and enters the body through breathing. At this time, there is a risk of developing cancer if the alpha rays from the lononggas entering the human body destroys the lung tissue and is continuously exposed to a high concentration of lonon gas. The World Health Organization (WHO) has emphasized the reduction of radon and its exposure to radon by classifying it as a first-level carcinogen, but many people have not recognized it yet, and the research is underdeveloped. Therefore, this study was carried out to investigate the properties of adsorbed coconut radon to prevent the inflow of radon gas, which is an air pollution source of indoor air, and to prevent inflow into the human body.

Mock-up실험에 의한 바닥복사 냉방시스템의 온도특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Temperature Characteristics of the Floor Cooling System of Mock-up Experimentent)

  • The research analyzed the distribution of the indoor temperatures of a radiant floor cooling system through mock-up experiments. It investigated the temperature difference of feed water, the vertical temperature difference of indoor air, the temperature difference of floor surface, and so on. The following is the results of the research. First, the research shows that the difference between indoor temperature and outside temperature was the smallest when the temperature of feed water was set at 16$^{\circ}C$. In addition, the temperature changes according to indoor positions (wall, room, floor, and ceiling) were the most uniform. Thus, the research found that the cold water temperature of 16$^{\circ}C$ is the most proper. In addition, it confirmed that the feed water temperature of 18$^{\circ}C$ is effective because the temperature can lower the temperature of a room to 13.55$^{\circ}C$, which is lower than the temperature of a non-cooling mode. Second, an investigation on the temperature distribution of vertical air in indoor space shows that the temperature distribution had a difference of 0.2 to 1.9$^{\circ}C$ on the average, which satisfies the range of 3.0$^{\circ}C$ in the standard of ISO.

  • As the air pollution progresses, the pollution degree of the indoor air quality is increased, and when the pollution degree of the indoor air quality is increased, it causes respiratory diseases and skin diseases. In addition, volatile organic compounds are released from the materials used for architectural interior decoration, and volatile organic compounds are the main cause of polluting indoor air quality. In order to improve indoor air quality, we tried to secure indoor air quality pollution by using photocatalyst which has the function of decomposing harmful substances. photocatalyst is a material that promotes chemical reaction by absorbing light. The photocatalyst used in the experiment was TiO2, In this study, an adsorption type hardener for reducing volatile organic compounds was prepared by photocatalytic reaction. the formaldehyde and CO2 concentrations of the cured products were analyzed according to the TiO2 content.

  • Environmental problems have showen over the past decades due to the rapid development of the world economy and the continued growth of the population. Ocher has been widely used for water treatment research, but few studies have been conducted on adsorption of air pollutants using ocher and porous diatomite earth for indoor air purification. In this study, ocher and diatomite earth were sintered with filters to remove indoor air pollutants. The four types of TMA, H2S, NH3 and CH3COOH were used to study the adsorption efficiency of ocher and porous diatomite filters. With the proper use of ocher, diatomite and copper catalysts, indoor air pollutants could be adsorbed. Alkaline substances (TMA and NH3) and acidic substances (H2S and CH3COOH) were able to adsorb at 120 and 90 minutes, respectively.

  • Positioning information of workers is important for safety management at construction sites. Among the various indoor positioning technologies, geomagnetic fields-based technology is more economical and has less error than other technologies. However, there is a problem that the installation and dismantling of materials such as formwork at construction sites can cause degradation in positioning performance. Therefore, in this study, the distortion of the geomagnetic field near euro-form was quantitatively measured and the application method of geomagnetic field-based indoor positioning technology on formwork stage was presented. The results showed that the distortion occurred within 10cm of the wall and column form, but positioning accuracy could be affected up to 60cm from the form due to the characteristic of geomagnetic field-collecting technology. Therefore, applying this technology to the formwork stage requires complementary measures, such as using other positioning techniques up to 60 cm near the formwork, or excluding distorted area when positioning. It is expected that this study can contribute to the efficient safety management of workers by suggesting ways to prevent an increase in positioning error when applying geomagnetic field sequence-based indoor positioning technology during the formwork stage.

목재용 마감도료의 휘발성유기화합물 방출특성 (VOCs Emission Characteristics of Coating Materials for Wood Finishing)

  • In order to prevent decay, distortion, bending, twist on wood products such as wooden furnitures, variety of coating materials were developed and used so far. The coating materials for wood finishing can be synthesized by natural resource or petroleum. However, these coating materials can cause contamination of indoor air quality due to emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In this study, commercialized coating materials for wood finishing such as varnish, coat, and stain were evaluated on emission characteristics of VOCs. Among the varnish, eco-friendly products had about 15~46% lower TVOC emission ($1,042{\mu}g/m^2h{\sim}3,257{\mu}g/m^2h$, respectively, than typical product ($7,100{\mu}g/m^2h$). Natural resource based coating material showed lowest TVOC emission level. However, one of natural resource based waterborne stain showed higher TVOC emission level because waterborne stain already contained higher amount of natural VOC. Oil-based stain might not be suitable for indoor use on interior wall and furniture due to exceed amount of TVOC. Based on results, natural resource based coat or waterborne stain are recommenced to use on wood products.

국내 친환경 실내 마감재 및 제품의 전문잡지 광고지면 내용분석 연구 (Content Analysis of advertised Eco-interior Materials and Products in Domestic Interior Magazines)

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out the profiles of eco-friendly finishing materials and intoner products through content analysis on the advertisements of three domestic interior design magazines, which have been published for 4 years since 2002. The amount of advertisements has been continuously increasing due to the public concerns on well-being. Finishing material types absolutely took the greatest proportion (92.8%), while products such as furniture and household equipments were only 7.2% among the advertisements. Charcoal, natural jade, yellow soil and nano-silver were the frequently mentioned health-related components in the finishing material. Only 35.7% of the finishing materials hold certification on indoor air quality. Among the interior products, phytonchid in air cleaner was the only advertised component related to health. In conclusion, controlling pollutants of indoor air quality, such as HCHO, VOC, seems to be the big issue in both materials and products due to the concern of Sick Building Syndrome. However, more scientific and objective guidelines are necessary for consumers to live in healthy interior environment.

  • The environment draws attention in the global community and a growing number of Koreans have interest in improving the quality of life, the importance of house environment has attracted the attention of the public. Against this backdrop, constructors have unveiled environmentally -friendly projects. However, they failed to establish people-oriented environment by being occupied with maximizing profitability through the improvement of brand image and caused sick house syndrome that has recently made controversy. In this regard, the study analyzed the mechanism of discharge of TVOC, one of the sick house syndrome-causing materials, that affects IAQ and its characteristics and examined the effect that granodiorite has on reduction of the discharge of TVOC in order to minimize damage. Experimental sample consisted of interior finishing materials frequently used in ceiling, wall and floor and adhesives used at a time of construction, and the TVOC of building materials was measured through the use of septum bottle unlike In the existing chamber method. Measures to counter the sick house syndrome were suggested by reducing the possible damage from the stage of selection of building material and by figuring out the effect that the granodiorite has on reduction of the discharge of TVOC.

As the concept and type of environmental marketing have not been established yet for interior design, environmental marketing currently applied to indoor space is classified Into three types in this study. Through the four types of environmental marketing, which are the introduction of natural elements to indoor space, the use of eco-friendly materials and the use of sustainable materials, renovation it is intend to derive the environmental marketing strategy and present the sequence of strategy establishment and desirable direction in environmental marketing.

  • For modern people who spend 80% of the day indoors, indoor air quality is an important factor in their lives. Radon and fine dust, which are indoor air quality pollutants, cause various diseases and lung diseases, so a method is needed to reduce them. Therefore, this study intends to utilize the air pollutant adsorption properties of the carbonized sludge by using the carbonized sludge generated through drying and carbonization of the sludge. As a result of the experiment, it was shown that the concentration of radon and fine dust gradually decreased as the replacement ratio of carbonized sludge increased. The reason is that the carbonized sludge has the ability to adsorb fine dust and radon, so it is considered that it gradually decreases as the replacement ratio increases. Also, the compressive strength and flexural strength tend to decrease gradually. The reason for this is that the carbonized sludge has a number of internal voids, and as the replacement ratio increases, the internal voids increase and the strength decreases. If the refinement and strength of the carbonized sludge replacement ratio are supplemented, it is believed that it will be able to replace the existing finishing materials.
