In indoor sensor networks equalization algorithms based on the minimization of Euclidean distance (MED) for the distributions of constant modulus error (CME) have yielded superior performance in compensating for signal distortions induced from optical fiber links, wireless-links and for impulsive noise problems. One main drawback of MED-CME algorithms is a heavy computational burden hindering its implementation. In this paper, a recursive gradient estimation for weight updates of the MED-CME algorithm is proposed for reducing the operations $O(N^2)$ of the conventional MED-CME to O(N) at each iteration time for N data-block size. From the simulation results of the proposed recursive method producing exactly the same results as the conventional method, the proposed estimation method can be considered to be a reliable candidate for implementation of efficient receivers in indoor sensor networks.
As with the disappearance of a living room window due to the trend in apartment housing construction that prefers a larger, expanded living room, the sound insulation performance of the balcony window is becoming an important factor to determine the level of indoor noise at an apartment unit. Considering that the indoor noise inside an apartment unit is mandated by law at or below 45dB(A), the balcony window is increasingly assuming an even more important role. Sound insulation performance of the window was measured by examining differences in data involving varying angles of incidence of the sound source as obtained from the same balcony window. Also, acoustic intensity measuring was performed at and around the window to determine its sound insulation quality. Results of measuring on the sound source's angles of incidence indicated that the performance showed some differences in lower frequency ranges, though with no significance. Intensity measuring results showed that the sound insulation performance was reduced near the connection part of the window and the window frame.
The diffuser noise of HVAC(heating ventilating and air-conditioning) uses dB(A) or NC as a indoor noise criteria that ASHRAE represents, and there is no specific guide line for application. According to the previous study, there are some problems like that even though the sound level of sound source is same, the NC shows different values, which makes the noise rating confused. This problem is caused by the frequency characteristics of sound source and its sound level. Therefore, appropriate evaluation method should be considered based on the subjective responses. This study aims to analyze the physical parameters appropriate for the evaluation of HVAC diffuser noise. To achieve this, recording of sound sources, calculation of physical parameters and psycho-acoustic experiment were carried out and the results were derived from the correlation analysis between physical parameters and subjective evaluatio
In order to investigate the radiation characteristics of unmixed line noise from overhead high voltage AC transmission lines, a gap noise generator was manufactured. Disk size which decides capacitance between the noise generator and earth was selected through preliminary indoor experiments and analysis by charge simulation method. The capacitance is one of principal parameters related to inject a proper noise current into lines. The field experiments were performed with the noise generator installed in Kochang 765 kV full scale test line. As the results, the useful data which can be used to analysis the radiation characteristics of noise from transmission lines was obtained. Those are lateral profiles the directivity of antenna toward lines, frequency spectra and so on.
The construction of concrete slab track system is increased recently but the noise level on slab track is 3dB(A) higher than the one on ballast track since most of noise is reflected on slab track. Currently, concrete slab track systems has been designed for Gyungbu high speed line stage 2 and Honam high speed line. For those tracks, noise absorbing blocks are considered. In this paper, noise absorbing blocks were installed at Hwang Hak tunnel for evaluation of noise absorbing blocks and the indoor noise of KTX was measured. The results have done comparative analysis.
The present study is a preliminary research improving the dwelling quality of apartment house as a kind of multi-family housing. The purpose of the study is to find out the present condition on noise level and types including residents' living noise in apartment units. The method was field survey consisted of field measurements on equivalent noise level, observation on noise type, and interview on residents' responses. The results are as follows. 1) Averages of indoor noise levels of subject houses were measured as $43.9{\sim}62.2\;dB(A)_{Leq5min}$, the average of each house except one was higher than the permissible level, 45 dB(A). 2) The noise types observed were mostly residents' living noise and classified as 'water hammer', 'living equipment noise', 'noise by family', 'hood noise', and 'kitchen noise' in own unit, 'walking and talking noise in stairs and corridors', 'noise by neighborhood house', 'noise by the upper story' in building, and outdoor noise. 3) The residents show slightly non-positive responses at 'noise by the upper story', 'noise by neighborhood house', 'water hammer', and 'noise by family'. Therefore, it is required to plan for preventing deterioration of the sound environment quality by residents' living noise in own unit as well as by neighborhood houses.
Indoor noise is very important related to the morale and fighting power of the crew as well as environmental condition for them in a navel vessel. Especially, the crew members working in CIC (combat information center) and sonar equipment room require much more quiet environment condition. One of the most serious noise source in CIC is the cooling fan noise installed in the console of the combat system. Therefore, in this paper, the design of the plenum chamber is studied to reduce the noise of the fan from these consoles by numerical analysis and experiment.

Present study explains some experimental results on the aerodynamic noise of the cross-flow fan usually installed in the indoor unit of the room air-conditioners and provides a simple reduction method of radiating sound to decrease the total noise level. The spectra of the noise of the cross-flow fan were analyzed by the spectral decomposition method to characterize the generated sound. The unsteady fluctuating flow field was also measured using the I-type hot-wire probe. Comparing the spectral characteristics of the sound and the flow velocity, a useful noise reduction method was proposed, which bounds the region with a fence where the flow fluctuations were noticeably changed in the same fashion as the source spectral distribution functions vary. To validate the proposed method for reducing noise generated by the cross-flow fan, the sound pressure levels of the cross-flow fan system were compared with and without the bounding fence for various flow rates.
