Microcystis sp. is one of the most common harmful cyanobacteria that release toxic substances. Counting algal cells is often used for effective control of harmful algal blooms. However, Microcystis sp. is commonly observed as a colony, so counting individual cells is challenging, as it requires significant time and labor. It is urgent to develop an accurate, simple, and rapid method for counting algal cells for regulatory purposes, estimating the status of blooms, and practicing proper management of water resources. The flow cytometer and microscope (FlowCAM), which is a dynamic imaging particle analyzer, can provide a promising alternative for rapid and simple cell counting. However, there is no accurate method for counting individual cells within a Microcystis colony. Furthermore, cell counting based on two-dimensional images may yield inaccurate results and underestimate the number of algal cells in a colony. In this study, a three-dimensional cell counting approach using a novel model algorithm was developed for counting individual cells in a Microcystis colony using a FlowCAM. The developed model algorithm showed satisfactory performance for Microcystis sp. cell counting in water samples collected from two rivers, and can be used for algal management in fresh water systems.
Push-ups are one of the body exercises that can be easily measured anytime, anywhere. As one of the most widely used techniques as a test tool for evaluating physical strength, they are broadly used in various fields, especially in fields that require physical ability to estimate, such as military, police, and firefighters. However, social distancing is currently being implemented, and the issue of fairness has been steadily raised due to subtle differences between measurement. Accordingly, in this paper, the correct posture for each individual was photographed and learned by a high-performance computer, and the result was derived by comparing it with the case of performing the incorrect posture of the individual. If method is introduced into the physical fitness evaluation through the proposed method, the individual takes the correct posture and learns the photographed photo, and measures the posture with several images taken during a given time. Through this, it is possible to measure more objectively because it measures with the merit that can be measured even in the present situation and with one's correct posture.

No single project is identical to one another in the construction industry. Furthermore, many construction projects are suffering from tighter budget, shortened schedule and higher client satisfaction level. To overcome these, project managers and engineers are willing to apply various best management practices to their projects. However, it is non-trivial to select the most appropriate practices for their projects. In many cases, it is much more important to find the appropriateness of the management practices than just to use the practices. Although many researchers are focusing on the development of new management practices, there is little research on matching between the circumstances of projects and the developed management practices. The objective of this study is to provide a structured process to suggest the best management practices for individual construction projects by developing a computerized system where an individual project is matched with the most optimal management practices to increase the value of the project. At this stage of writing, the authors have developed a computerized system to effectively find out the best suitable management practices for individual projects. By maximizing the usages of this system, it would facilitate the application of the best management practices in the industry.

Risk exists in all construction projects and resides among the collection of subcontractors and their array of individual activities. Wherever risk resides, the interrelation of participants to one another becomes paramount for the way in which risk is measured. Inherent risk becomes recognizable and quantifiable within network schedules in the form of consuming float - the flexibility to absorb delays. Allocating, owning, valuing, and expending such float in network schedules has been debated since the inception of the critical path method itself. This research investigates the foundational element of a three-part approach that examines how float can be traded as a commodity, a concept whose promise remains unfulfilled for lack of a holistic approach. The Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) of financial portfolio theory, which describes the relationship between risk and expected return of individual stocks, is explored as an analogy to quantify the inherent risk of the participants in construction projects. The inherent relationship between them and their impact on overall schedule performance, defined as schedule risk -the likelihood of failing to meet schedule plans and the effect of such failure, is matched with the use of CAPM's beta component - the risk correlation measure of an individual stock to that of the entire market - to determine parallels with respect to the inner workings and risks represented by each entity or activity within a schedule. This correlation is the initial theoretical extension that is required to identify where risk resides within construction projects, allocate and commoditize it, and achieve actual tradability.
In this study, we sought to compare and evaluate the accuracy and predictive performance of machine learning algorithms for estimating the growth of individual Larix kaempferi trees in Gangwon Province, Korea. We employed linear regression, random forest, XGBoost, and LightGBM algorithms to predict tree growth using monitoring data organized based on different thinning intensities. Furthermore, we compared and evaluated the goodness-of-fit of these models using metrics such as the coefficient of determination (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), and root mean square error (RMSE). The results revealed that XGBoost provided the highest goodness-of-fit, with an R2 value of 0.62 across all thinning intensities, while also yielding the lowest values for MAE and RMSE, thereby indicating the best model fit. When predicting the growth volume of individual trees after 3 years using the XGBoost model, the agreement was exceptionally high, reaching approximately 97% for all stand sites in accordance with the different thinning intensities. Notably, in non-thinned plots, the predicted volumes were approximately 2.1 m3 lower than the actual volumes; however, the agreement remained highly accurate at approximately 99.5%. These findings will contribute to the development of growth prediction models for individual trees using machine learning algorithms.
This study examines empirically the characteristics of agricultural corporations in terms of their market and technology environment and the efficiency of the governmental support to the firms. Also the study analyzes the moderating effect of the environmental characteristics on the relationship between governmental supports and firm performance based on the concept of balanced performance. Test results show that firm tend to evaluate favorably their technology and market competitiveness of product quality and price and to require tools for reaction to changes of customer needs and technology or competing products and external corporation that is necessary for long-term technological competitiveness. As for governmental support, strategic support and service is much more appreciated than direct individual supporting item. Agricultural corporations with unfavorable market environment evaluate relatively high on their balanced performance. Correlations of balanced performance factors and technology environmental factors show all positive statistical significance. The moderating effect of the environmental characteristics on the relationship between governmental support and balanced performance can be interpreted that the support is provided without considering environmental aspect and based only on financial performance and as a result not to be satisfied by agricultural corporations with technological competitiveness.
Purpose: This study verified the influence of teachers' job characteristics on empowerment and job performance, and the mediating effect of empowerment in the relationship between job characteristics factors and job performance. Research design, data, and methodology: As a factor influencing human resources that influence organizational success or failure, job characteristics induce an important psychological state in organizational members, which affects individual motivation and job satisfaction, thereby achieving the goal of securing stable management and job security. In this study, a questionnaire survey of private academy instructors was conducted and reliability and factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used. Results: The purpose of this study was to understand the effect of the job characteristics of academy instructors on empowerment and job performance, and to verify whether empowerment plays a mediating role in the relationship between job characteristics and job performance. Conclusions: As a result of verifying Hypothesis 1, the educational environment, expertise, and social support of academy instructors all had a significant positive (+) effect on job performance. As a result of the verification of Hypothesis 2, empowerment greatly mediated the relationship between the educational environment, expertise, and job performance. However, empowerment did not mediate the relationship between social support for academy instructors and job performance.
Purpose: This study aims to explain the effect distribution strategy and competitiveness of entrepreneurial personality on marketing capabilities and performance, the effect of marketing capabilities on marketing performance, the role of marketing capabilities as a mediating variable on the effect of entrepreneurial personality on marketing performance, and the role of credit access moderating effect of entrepreneurial personality on marketing capabilities and performance. Research design, data, and methodology: This research was conducted in Bali, on a small clothing industry. The sample size was set at 150 respondents, using a cluster random sampling approach. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and partial least square. CII BM&M(Benchmarking & Metrics) in USA and DTI(Department of Trade and Industry) in UK have built up systems that enable performance measuring and made the results of performance measurement comparable between projects to utilize them as benchmarking tools. By comparing the results of performance measurement, it is possible to grasp the success level of project management and to establish the direction of management. However, construction projects are much diversified and even those projects with the same work type have different attributes. Therefore, simply comparing the results of project performance measurement without considering the characteristics of projects is not justifiable and affects the reliability of the benchmarking results. Therefore, to solve this problem, this study presents a methodology that makes it possible to compare the individual construction projects considering various characteristics. The benefits and importance of project characteristics to overall project performance will be quantitatively expressed and they will be reflected on the results of performance management. By maximally converting multiple projects with different characteristics into the same projects through a new methodology to convert different projects into the same level utilizing such utility-bases and comparing the performances of those projects, project performance results can be utilized in project management as a tool for more accurate decision making and as a robust benchmarking tool.
There is increasing awareness in the international alliance literature that the firm performance effects of the alliance portfolio go beyond the effects of the individual alliances. I enrich this nascent perspective by developing a alliance portfolio composition framework based on the alliance portfolio dimensions - underpinned by the simultaneity of quantitative and qualitative factors in international portfolio - that enhances firms' financial performance. This paper assesses the impact on firm performance of composing the alliance dimension within a firm's international alliance portfolio. In an unbalanced panel data analysis with fixed effects of the performance of 502 firms operating in the Korean manufacturing industry during 2011-2017, I test whether firm's three dimension of international alliance portfolio affect on firm financial performance. I find that the intensity of international alliance have significantly positive effect on the firm performance. And following the moderating analysis of three portfolio dimension-functional, relational, and attribute, all of each three international alliance portfolio has positive moderating effects on the relationship between the alliance intensity and firm performance. These results indicate that firms should consider and form simultaneous approaches to exploit the international alliance based on the alliance portfolio dimensions with intensity of alliance portfolio.
