A Study on Effects of Using In Coated Wire on Arc Stability in GMAW (In 도금 와이어가 GMAW용접의 아크 안정성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • 철강 재료의 GMA 용접 시, 보호가스로 $CO_2$ 가스를 사용하면 가격이 저렴하고 용입이 깊다는 장점이 있어 국내에서 광범위하게 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 일반적으로 활성가스인 $CO_2$를 사용한 GMA용접은 아크가 불안정하고 스패터가 많이 발생한다는 단점이 있어 아크 안정성 개선의 필요성이 부각되었다. 거기다 용접 자동화 및 용접 품질의 고급화 추세로 아크 안정성이 $CO_2$용접에서 점점 중요해지면서, 아크 안정화 및 스패터 저감을 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 GMA 용접 재료인 solid wire의 표면에 이온화 에너지가 낮은 금속인 인듐(In)을 전해 도금하여 중전류의 $CO_2$ 용접에 적용하였다. 고속 촬영과 아크 모니터링 분석을 통하여 금속 이행 모드 및 아크 안정화에 미치는 영향에 관하여 연구하였다. 동일 전압, 전류 조건에서 도금 두께를 달리하여 용접을 실시, 도금 두께에 따른 아크 안정성의 경향을 분석하였다. 그 결과 도금 두께가 두꺼워짐에 따라 아크가 넓어지는 것을 확인하였으며, 이는 아크 내에 이온화도가 높은 인듐 이온이 다량 포함됨으로써 이온의 양이 증가하기 때문인 것으로 생각된다. 또한 도금 두께가 일정 이상이 되면, 이행 모드가 용적의 아래에서 아크가 발생하는 반발 이행 모드에서 용적의 윗부분에서 아크가 발생하는 입상 용적 이행 모드로 바뀌었으며, 이때 단락 수가 현저히 줄어들어 아크가 안정해졌다. 이에 따라 인듐 도금 와이어는 기존보다 낮은 전류 영역에서도 안정적인 아크와 금속 이행 모드를 가지게 됨을 확인하였다.

  • We investigated the electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of functionalized polyimide. LB films of polyimide monolayer were deposited by the Langmuir-Blodgett method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) at various concentrations(0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 N) of $NaClO_4$ solution. The current of reduction and oxidation range was measured from 1650 mV to -1350 mV, continuously. The scan rates were 50, 100 and 150 mV/s, respectively. As a result, monolayer and multilayer LB films of polyimide are appeared on irreversible process caused by the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram.

  • The electrical conductivity of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP's) has been improved by indium-tin oxide (ITO) nano-particle coating on carbon fibers for the purpose of lightning strike protection of composite fuselage skins. ITO nano-particles were coated on the surface of carbon fibers by spraying the colloidal suspension with 10~40% ITO content. The electrical conductivity of the CFRP has been increased more than three times after ITO coating, comparable to or higher than that of B-787 composite fuselage skins with metal wire-meshes on the outer surface, without sacrificing the tensile property due to the existence of nano-particles at fiber-matrix interface. The damage area by the simulated lightning strike was also verified for different materials and conditions by using ultrasonic C-scan image. As the electrical conductivity of 40% nano-ITO coated sample surpass that of the B-787 sample, the damage area by lightning strike also appeared comparable to that of the materials currently employed for composite fuselage construction.

The LB films of 8A5H, 8A5H-DMPC and 8A5H-DLPC mixture monolayers were deposited by using the LB method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass.   • We studied electrochemical characteristics of Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. An Ag/AgCl as a reference electrode, a platinum wire as a counter electrode and LB film-coated indium tin oxide(ITO) as a working electrode were used to study electrochemical characteristics at a various concentration of $NaClO_4$ solution. LB films were reduced from initial potential to -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to l650mV and returned to the initial point. The scan rate was l00mV/s. The monolayer surface morphology of the LB film have been measured by Atomic Force Microscope(AFM). As a result, We comfirmed that the microscopic properties of LB film by AFM showed the good orientation of momolayer molecules and the thickness of monolayer was 3.5-4.lnm. The cyclic voltammograms(CV) of the ITO-coated glass showed the peak potentials for the reduction-oxidation reation. LB films of 4-octyl-4'-(5-carboxypentamethyleneoxy) azobenzene(8A5H) / L-${\alpha}$-phosphayidyl choline, dilauroyl(DLPC) seemed to be irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. The current of oxidatation increased at cyclic voltammogram by increasing 8A5H density in LB films. The diffusivity(D) of LB films increased with increasing of a 8A5H amount and was inversely proportional to the concentration of $NaClO_4$ solution.

The current of reduction and oxidation range was measured from 1650 mV to -1350 mV, continuously. The scan rates were 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 mV/s, respectively. As a result, monolayer LB films of polyamic acid and phospholipid mixture was appeared on irreversible process caused by the reduction current from the cyclic voltammogram. Diffusion coefficient (D) effect in the polyamic acid and phospholipid mixture was used in the LAPC with LLPC fewer than the diffusion coefficient values.

  • We are investigated to an electrochemical characteristic for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films by cyclic voltammetry method. The phospholipid compound was deposited by using the LB method on the Indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. We tried to measure the electrochemical by using cyclic voltammetry with three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) in 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 N $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV. As a result, LB films of the phospholipid compounds are appeared irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. The diffusivity(D) effect of LB films decreased with increasing of phospholipid compound amount.

  • We investigated an electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of saturated fatty acid and phospholipid(L-${\alpha}$-dimyristoylphosphatidyl choline, DMPC) mixture. LB films of saturated fatty acid and DMPC monolayer were deposited by the LB method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry with three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) in $NaClO_4$ solution. As a result, monolayer LB films of saturated fatty acid and phospholipid mixture was appeared on irreversible process caused by the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. Diffusion coefficient (D) of saturated fatty acid and DMPC mixture(molar ratio 1:1, C12, C14, C16, C18) was calculated $1.2{\times}10^{-3}$, $2.1{\times}10^{-3}$, $1.4{\times}10^{-4}$ and $1.1{\times}10^{-3}cm^2/s$ in 0.05 N $NaClO_4$ solution, respectively.
