Opinions of dental hygienists on the advanced dental hygienist system (전문치과위생사제도에 대한 견해)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to provide basic data to lay the groundwork for the introduction of an advanced dental hygienist system by sampling dental hygienists' views about the system. Methods: A nationwide questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 857 dental hygienists working at dental hospitals and clinics, local health institutions, and educational institutions. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) (Duncan as post-analysis), and crossover analysis. Results: The average interest level in the advanced dental hygienist system was 3.83±0.95 points. The necessity by field was confirmed to be the highest during dental hygiene for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The working experience necessary for becoming a specialized dental hygienist is 5.56±2.99 (years). The education period necessary for becoming a specialized dental hygienist is 77.30±77.61 (hours). The work authority level for an advanced dental hygienist was indicated to be 50 respondents (5.8%), who said they required direct guidance from a dentist, 313 respondents (48.2%) who said they needed indirect guidance from a dentist, 200 respondents (23.3%) who said OK when given an advanced dental hygienist's separate judgment, 194 respondents (22.6%), who said that the authority must be varied depending on the work. Conclusions: The interest and need of the advanced dental hygienist system were proven to be high and are expected to be applied to basic data for the introduction and settlement of the system.

Education-neurological Understanding of Digital Learning Materials and Implications for Education (디지털 학습자료에 대한 교육신경학적 이해와 교육적 시사점)

  • This study establishes the scientific basis for the use of digital learning materials through the education-neurological research method and derives implications for education based on education-neurological understandings. The main findings of the education-neurological analysis of digital learning materials are as follows: First, various sensory stimuli go through multiple sensory neurons and deep sections of the upper sphere and make possible the cooperative processing of information. Second, indirect experience from digital learning materials helps students understand the learning contents vividly through the mirror neuron system. Third, positive emotions originating from digital learning materials promote functions of dopamine, the reticular activating system, frontal-striatal circuit, cerebrum cortex. Based on the findings, the study suggests the following educational implications. First of all, when selecting digital learning materials, teachers should consider expression forms, learning contents, the flow of classes, and the adverse effects of digital learning materials. Next, it is effective to utilize digital learning materials in the lecture for provoking curiosity and enjoyment, maintaining interest and effort, and reviewing what students learned.

  • Virtual reality is actively applied in the fields of games, entertainment, communication, sports, and architecture. In particular, many virtual reality-based education systems are being developed in the field of education, creating efficient learning effects. In addition, virtual reality-based education is used in areas such as maintenance, fighter control, medical care, and firefighting as it can maximize the educational effect through the mastery process of the function itself through the curriculum as well as indirect experiences of dangerous situations that are difficult to experience. However, due to technical limitations, lack of contents, and lack of theoretical research, the level of application of military education and training is still insufficient. This paper aim to contribute to the development of a virtual reality-based education system as a military training system by developing a high-quality drop training system applicable to military group descent training, studying key technologies and implementation methods necessary for development.

Structural relationship of dental hygienist image, major satisfaction, and dropout intention (치과위생사 이미지, 전공만족도 및 중도탈락의도의 구조적 관계)

  • Objectives: This study investigates dropout intention and the structural relationship between the dental hygienist role and satisfaction with the study major perceived by dental hygiene students. Methods: A survey was conducted on 269 dental hygiene students. The survey items covered general characteristics, department choice motivation, the desirability of dental hygienist career, practice clinical experience, perception of dental hygienist role, satisfaction with study major, and dropout intention. Independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, multiple linear regression analysis, and structural equation modeling were used for statistical analysis. Results: The dropout intention level of dental hygiene students was 2.4 out of 5.0. Satisfaction with study major partially mediates perception of dental hygienist role and dropout intention (direct effect=0.182, p=0.024, indirect effect=-0.437, p=0.010). Perception of dental hygienist role (β=-0.255, p=0.010) and satisfaction with study major (β=-0.661, p=0.010) showed a negative relationship with dropout intention. The factor most affecting dropout intention was satisfaction with study major. Dropout intention was high when selecting a major based on external motivations (β=-0.448, p<0.001). Conclusions: Perception of dental hygienist role and satisfaction with study major directly or indirectly affect dropout intention. Therefore, improving satisfaction with study major and improving the perception of dental hygienists will help reduce dropout intention.

  • This study was conducted to explore the experience of emotional change among senior citizens aged 65 and older experienced COVID-19 social situation. COVID-19 not only directly affects the elderly as a high-risk infectious disease, it also causes social isolation and depression caused by social distinctions, decreased cognitive skills, and worsened chronic diseases, and has indirect effects. As a result of the study, one component and four sub-components were derived, and the components were emotional changes. As the elderly experienced COVID-19, fear of spreading, fear of increasing the number of deceased and dead, and social distance I experienced depression, tightness, and anticipation for ending due to self-control. No matter how hard you try 'technical prevention', without 'psychological prevention', the anxiety of the elderly will inevitably increase. In this study, mediators for negative emotions experienced by the elderly are provided by providing accurate information to prevent the spread of fear caused by COVID-19 and proving emotional support programs such as 'psychological prevention' as well as 'technical prevention'. I think it will be necessary.

SARS-CoV-2 IgG Antibody Seroprevalence in Children from the Amritsar District of Punjab

  • The majority of the children experience milder coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) symptoms. Children represent a significant source of community transmission. Children under 18 years of age account for an estimated 4.8% of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections globally. However, no conclusive statements pertaining to the multi-fold aspects of the virus in children could be drawn due to the lower prevalence of pediatric cases. The present study was conducted to identify the indirect impact of SARS-CoV-2 infections on developing herd immunity among children in the age group 3 to 18 years by investigating their antibody levels. In the study, 240 children aged 3~18 years were recruited by the Department of Pediatrics, Government Medical College and Hospital, Amritsar, India, and quantification of the antibodies was performed at the Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL), Government Medical College (GMC), Amritsar, India. Out of the 240 serum samples, 197 (82.08%) showed seropositivity, while 43 (17.92%) were seronegative. When stratified, it was observed that in the age group 3~6 years, 22.33% of children were found to have anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies while in the age groups 7~10 years, 11~14 years, and 15~18 years, respectively, 37.06%, 30.46%, and 10.15% were seropositive. Although there was seroconversion among children which was useful for predicting the next wave, no differences in seropositivity were observed between adults and children.

The Relationships between Rural Elderly's Suicide Literacy, Suicide Stigma and Coping Advice for Suicide Prevention: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Social Expectations for Experiencing Negative Emotions (일개 농촌 지역 노인의 자살 리터러시 수준과 자살 낙인 인식 및 자살 위기대처 능력의 관계: 부정적 정서 경험에 대한 사회적 기대의 조절된 매개 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the rural elderly suicide literacy level upon suicide stigma and coping advice with suicidal crises (recommending professional help for a suicidal person). In particular, this study investigates the role of cultural norms (perceived social expectations for the experience of negative emotions) on suicide stigma and coping ability. Methods: A survey was conducted addressing elderly people (N=119) living in rural areas. Regression analysis using SPSS PROCESS macro was used to examine the relationships among the key variables. Results: Participants with higher suicide literacy showed lower suicide stigma, and this perception had a significant effect on enhancing their coping advice with suicidal crises. Also, perceived social expectations significantly influenced the relationship between suicide stigma and coping advice. With lower levels of social expectations, the mediating effect of suicide stigma on the relationship between suicide literacy and recommending professional help did not exist whereas the indirect effect was significant when it pertained to high levels of social expectations. Conclusion: This result signifies that suicide stigma serves as a barrier deterring Koreans from reaching out for professional help regarding their mental health. Moreover, these findings underscore the importance of cultural psychological factors such as perceived social expectations in terms of developing suicide prevention strategies.

Exploring Factors of Corporate Entrepreneurship within Medical Institutions : Focusing on the Perspective of Participants in the In-house Innovation & Start-up Contest (의료기관 내 사내기업가정신 확산 요인에 대한 탐색 : 사내 혁신·창업 공모전 참가자의 관점에서)

  • Purpose: This study explores the diffusion factors of corporate entrepreneurship among members of medical institutions. Methodology/Approach: The study explores the case of Granum Sinapis Center at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, the first medical institution to establish a support organization for "innovation and start-up" as well as examines the changes in individual perceptions of participants in the institution's in-house contest. Among the 140 participants in the 2nd Contest held in 2022, seven participants were selected for interview in consideration of their job occupation and years of service. In-depth interviews were conducted for each individual. Findings: The participants applied for the contest under the direct and indirect influence of co-workers as well as compensatory factors. An individual's corporate entrepreneurial characteristics can be innate or acquired. The participants of the in-house contest had a positive experience in contrast to the existing organizational culture. The results reveal that emotional support from top and middle managers, along with the role of dedicated departments, can affect innovative behavior. Practical Implications: Contest participants reported personal growth, improved job satisfaction, and a change in perception of the organizational culture; they expressed their willingness to recommend. The results confirm the need to support such systems and shift focus to managerial (emotional) support and dedicated resources for developing individual entrepreneurship.

A Study on MMIP Data Service providing additional Information of multiple Movie Information Programs (복수의 영화정보 프로그램의 부가정보를 제공하기 위한 MMIP 데이터서비스에 관한 연구)

  • A movie information program has a positive effect on the viewer's intention to watch the movie by providing an indirect experience of the movie based on trust. In order to increase the effectiveness of a movie information program, a data service that provides the additional information on the movies introduced in a movie information program has been studied. However, since the study limited the data service to one movie information program, it was difficult to apply it to the actual environment of general cable broadcasting companies or satellite broadcasting companies that transmit multiple movie information programs. Therefore, this study expanded the existing research limited to one movie information program to provide additional information of several movie information programs. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a data service that can be operated in the realistic environment of a broadcaster that actually transmits several movie information programs.

A study on DVB-SI based additional information transmission method of data service linked with movie information TV program (영화정보 프로그램 연동형 데이터서비스의 DVB-SI 기반 부가정보 전송 방법에 관한 연구)

  • Because the movie has the characteristics of a cultural product where experience is important, a promotional strategy is used to convert viewers into movie audiences by providing indirect experiences of movies through professional movie information programs. Considering that the movie information program is a strategic publicity medium that raises the audience's intention to watch a movie, a study on the data service that provides useful additional information to the viewer in conjunction with the movie information program is meaningful. Against this background, this study contains the core research contents in the development of data service linked with movie information program. Specifically, additional information of the movie information program was defined. And to provide the additional information to the data service, the digital broadcasting international standard DVB-SI-based additional information transmission method was devised.
