Technology Development for Stabilization of PV Independent System (태양광발전시스템 독립계통 안정화 기술개발)

  • In order to reduce the fossil fuels consumed in conventional commercial independent diesel generators in the same environment as the island area, it is necessary to develop a photovoltaic system that will bear more than 40% of the independent system capacity. For this development, it is necessary to develop a high-capacity inverter that can improve the stability of the independent system installed in the island area and supply high-quality power to the load. In addition, the EMS power generation control system for the independent grid photovoltaic power generation system is a parallel operation power control system of the diesel generator connected with the solar power generation system. It controls the output of the diesel generator according to the load ratio and the solar power generation, A stable supply system is needed. This independent grid photovoltaic generation system can increase the solar power supply to the independent system area and increase the power stability of the independent system and further reduce the use of fossil fuel due to the ineffective power control of the independent system. It is expected that the economy will be secured early.

  • Power system needs to sustain high reliability due to its complexity and security. The reliability prediction method is usually based on independent failure. However, in practice, the Common Cause Failures(CCF) and Cascading failure occur to the facilities in power system as well as independent failures in many cases. The CCF and Cascading failure turn out the system collapse seriously in a wide range. Therefore to improve the reliability of the power system practically, it is required that the analysis is conducted by using the CCF and Cascading failure. This paper describes the CCF and Cascading failure modeling combined with independent failure. The incorporated model of independent failure, CCF and cascading failure is proposed and analyzed, and it is applied to the distribution power system in order to examine this method.

  • Recently, as one of the policies for carbon free operation method of independent power system replacing diesel generator with renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaic(PV) system has been presented. Therefore, this paper proposes an operation algorithm and modeling of independent power system by considering CVCF(constant voltage constant frequency) ESS(energy storage system) for constant frequency and voltage, LC(load control) ESS for demand and supply balancing and SVC(static var compensator) for reactive power compensation. From the simulation results based on the various operation scenario, it is confirmed that proposed operation algorithm and modeling may contribute stable operation and carbon free in independent power system.

Independent MPP Tracking Method of Hybrid Solar-Wind Power Conditioning Systems Using Integrated Dual-Input Single-PWM-Cell Converter Topology

  • This paper proposes the modeling and control strategy to track the MPPs of hybrid PV and Wind power systems, using a new dual input boost converter. The dual input power conditioning system with an independent MPPT control scheme is introduced with minimum number of circuit elements in order to reduce the switching loss, size and cost of the system. Since the operating conditions for the PV and Wind power systems are very distinct from each other, an efficient and superior control system is required to track the MPPs of both renewable sources with the use of a simply-structured single-ended single-inductor converter. The design of Power-Conditioning System (PCS) and detail control strategy are presented in this paper. To provide independent tracking of MPPs, a variable duty-cycle control strategy is employed for the wind system and a variable frequency strategy is employed for the PV system. Finally, the proposed dual-input converter for hybrid power conditioning system is implemented and the hardware test results are presented. From the hardware experiment, it is concluded that the proposed system successfully tracks the MPPs of both of the renewable power systems independently.

  • In this paper, the method on calculating benefits of combined heat and power is introduced for standard evaluation in electrical power system. This paper calculates benefits about new national viewpoint and viewpoint of independent power producers and assesses benefits of combined heat and power in Korea and In Seoul national capital area. Benefit costs are composed of avoid cost of centralized generation, line upgrading adjustment, loss adjustment and electrical power trade cost per year in earlier study, in addition trade cost of $CO_2$, construction cost of combined heat and power for accurate calculation. Benefit of combined heat and power is calculated by simulation results of real electrical power system.

  • In wireless sensor network technology, which has been applied to various fields, the power supply and the power management of sensors are the most important issues. For this reason, a new concept of power supply and power management device is required. In this paper, we developed an autonomous independent power supply system that supplies the stable power to a sensor node without an additional external input by applying the energy harvesting technology using the electromagnetic induction principle by utilizing the current flowing in the transmission line. The proposed autonomous independent power supply system consists of a power supply using Power CT and a power management system including a charging circuit. The power management device uses a voltage limiter circuit and a monitoring circuit of charging voltage and current to ensure the safety of charging of the battery. In order to verify the performance of the proposed system, we applied it to the SVL diagnostic system and confirmed that it operates stably.

  • Among the alternative energy sources, the solar energy is recognized as an important energy source and its application is increasing. Especially in future, the hybrid solar energy generation system with battery will be widely used as an independent distributed power generation system. In this paper, a solar power hybrid home generation system using a contactless power supply (CPS) that can transfer an electric power without any mechanical contact by using magnetic coupling instead of the power transfer by directly supplying the DC power to the home electric system is proposed. The proposed system consists of a ZVS boost converter, a half bridge LLC resonant converter and contact-less transformer.

  • The railway is required to be highly reliable, which carries a lot of passenger and baggage. Presently, the reliability prediction method is based on independent failure. If the common cause failure affecting many components simultaneously in a system occurs, the system has seriously an aptitude to be broken out. Therefore, for raising the reliability of the railway power system, it is introduced that the analysis is conducted to use the common cause failure. The common cause failure is modeled and is combined with independent failure. Furthermore in order to examine the method, it is applied to the railway power substation. If this method is used to the power system, the reliability of the railway power system will be highly improved.

  • A cylinder control system of the conventional construction machine has been controlled by hydraulic spool valves. This system is low-cost but system efficiency is not high. Recently, to improve this, all valves are controlled electronically and independently. Bu and Yao suggested four way electronic hydraulic control valve system. It is called IMVT(Independent Metering Valve Technology). The purpose of the study is to find proper IMV pressure control method for excavator and to validate excavator's bucket regeneration energy effect by controlling the IMV system. In this paper, we mathematically describe the bucket system of excavator first. And then, based on these results, we design the control system which is divided into two operations(none regeneration or regeneration).The results of the experiment show the desirable performance and usefulness of the designed control system.

A Study on the TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) in Different IT Environments (이질적인 정보기술 사용 환경 하에서의 기술수용모델(TAM)에 대한 연구)

  • Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been a basis model for testing technology use. Post researches of TAM have been conducted with the updating the TAM by adding new independent variables in order to increase the explanation power of the model. However, one problem is that different independent variables have to be introduced to keep the explanation power whenever applying to particular technology. This reduces the generality of the research model. Thus in order to increase the generality of the model, this study reviewed the previous researches and collected the independent variables used, and regrouped them into three basic independent constructs. New research model was designed with three basic independent constructs with four constructs selected for the mandatory IT environment and voluntary IT environment, and the structured equations analysis(AMOS) was applied to find the significant causal effect relationships between constructs in addition to the explanation power of the model. Finally, this study concluded that new TAM could be used to explain the users' adopting new technology without any adding new particular independent variables.
