Isozyme analysis, morphometric comparison, and artificial hybridization test wereperformed to elucidate the patterns of genic variation, morphological differentiation, genetic incompatibility, and a probable path in speciation between two MDH allelotypes (MM type and MS type) of the Dark Chub Zacco temmincki, a fresh water fish inhabiting in Korean waters. The degree of genic variation of MS type(HD=.023, HG=.021) was twofold higher than that of MM type (HD=.013, HG=.014) but both allelotypes were far less than the average genic variation of fresh water Bish in general. The average genetic similarities among 7 populations of MM type and 6 Populations of MS type were S=.947 and S=.966 respectively, whereas the value between two allelotypes was S=.853. Presumed divergent time of two allelotypes was estimated to be about 700 thousand years ago. Discriminant function analysis based on 18 morphometric characters of 302 specimens representing 12 populations revealed no morphological difference between two allelotypes. Artificial hybridization test indicates that there is an obvious genetic incogpatibility between two allelotypes and therefore it is assumed that isolating mechanism is completed.
Conflict may occur during teamwork activities. Conflict is the incompatibility of interest of participants; hence, it is more common in a wide varied activities involved construction field. Goals and values involve positive or negative features and are therefore common sources of conflict in construction field. Excessive conflict is a major hindrance to the effective operation of a team. If the conflict is not managed timely and properly, it could be transformed into a big dispute, thus to avoid these situation, it is necessary to augment working together culture. This paper aims to identify project team working factors and to uncover underlying relationships between these factors. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data from professionals. Factor analysis was employed to categorize twenty-one teamwork items evaluated by 169 respondents working in three major construction parties namely, owners, consultants and contractors. Factor analysis uncover that these team work factors can be grouped under three categories titled as: integrative working culture, relationship building and trust building. Multiple regression analysis however, showed that relationship building factor does not influence job satisfaction of project participants. Results of this study can be used as a tool to strengthening relationship between project participants in the construction industry.
Systems are often operated by not integration but blocking, i.e., non-standardization. The system blocking is mainly caused by non-standardization or incompatibility. The integrated system is effective, but researches for quantification of effectiveness from Integrating system are few. System blocking causes additional cost which is almost intangible and potential. In this paper we proposed a model to quantify the effectiveness of system integration. To verify the validity of proposed model, we applied the model for Korean information and communication industry and forecasted the cost of integration for South and North Korean telecommunication industry in the way of three scenarios.
Thermal power plants play an important role in the country's power supply, but often violate the Industrial Safety and Health Act due to lack of safety awareness about the incompatibility of electrical safety and safety facilities. In this study, safety diagnosis was performed for each of the five major thermal power plants in Korea. For the 18 sites including coal, LNG, and power plants, we investigate the main violations of Article 327 and conduct intensive analysis on repetitive electrical safety violations to propose preventive measures that meet the characteristics of the power plant.
Railway wheel/rail contact conditions have an influence on dynamic behavior of rolling stock. If there are problems of incompatibility between wheel and rail, damages like wheel wear, wheel spalling, rail wear, etc are occurred. Especially wheel and rail profiles are important factor of vehicle curving performance, so compatibility study between wheel and rail has to be carried out preferentially, In this study, we have analyzed the compatibility between wheel and rail of KNR conventional line to improve the maintenance efficiency of wheel and rail. Thus we showed the results relating to wheel/rail geometric contact, vehicle running performances as the change of wheel/rail combination.
There are different types of vehicle impacts recorded every year, resulting in many injuries and fatalities. The severity of these impacts depends on the aggressivety and incompatibility of vehicle-to-roadside hardware impacts. The aim of this paper is to investigate and to enhance crashworthiness in the case of full barrier impact using a new idea of crash improvement. Two different types of smart structures have been proposed to support the function of the existing vehicle. The work carried out in this paper includes developing and analyzing mathematical models of vehicle-to-barrier impact for the two types of smart structures. It is proven from analytical analysis that the mathematical models can be used in an effective way to give a quick insight of real life crashes. Moreover, it is shown that these models are valid and flexible, and can be useful in optimization studies.
Multiply resistant Shigella strains isolated in Taegu area were subjected for the characterization of R plasmids. All strains isolated in 1984 and 1985 were susceptible to gentamicin, amikacin, and cephalothin, and most strains were susceptible to kanamycin (Km) and rifampin by agar dilution antimicrobial susceptibility test. The resistance frequency of S. flexneri against ampicillin (Ap) was higher than that of S. sonnei. The strains resistant to sulfisomidine (Su) and trimethoprim (Tp) were found at higher frequency in S. sonnei than in S. flexneri. The most prevalent resistance pattern of S. flexneri was chloramphenicol (Cm) tetracycline (Tc) streptomycin (Sm) Ap, followed by the pattern of CmTcSmSuApTp, CmTcSmSuApTp nalidixic acid, and CmTcSmSuAp in the decreasing order. The antibiogram of CmTcSmSuTp was found to be the most frequent pattern in S. sonnei. The ratio of conjugal transfer of S. flexneri was 47% and 75% of S. sonnei. The average number of plasmid harboring in Shigella was 4 and the size of plasmid ranged 1.3 to 134 megadalton (Mdal). Most S. flexneri carried plasmids of 2 to 3 Mdal and S. sonnei carried those of 3 to 4 Mdal size. The sizes of conjugative plasmids ranged 40-90 Mdal. The incompatibility group (Inc) F II plasmids (54-59 Mdal) were most frequent and rare Inc B plasmids (60 Mdal) of isolates in 1979 and 1980 and Inc FI (87 Mdal) of 1983 isolates were able to be classified by the colony test with standard reference plasmids. The R plasmids of known Inc group were tested for the restriction endonuclease analysis. The pattern of plasmids digested by EcoRl were apparently different by the Inc group but there was no significant difference between species or by the resistance patterns. Nonconjugative plasmids and their phenotypes were identified by transformation test. The transformants were resistant to less than two drugs. Colicin producing transformants carried the Col plasmid of 3.7 or 3.9 Mdal size. $Ap^r$ plasmids derived from S. sonnei were found to be mobilized by transfer factor RT641 to E. coli #CS100. $Ap^r$ plasm ids of same size shared by S. flexneri, S. sonnei, and E. coli were digested with Pstl. All of them showed two restriction fragments of 2.8 kilobase(kb) and 0.7kb. Other plasmids ($Sm^r\;Su^r$) derived from S. flexneri, S. boydii, and S. sonnei were digested with Pstl and they showed same restriction fragment patterns of 3.1kb and 2.9kb. The plasmid profiles of three strains of S. sonnei producing colicin and showing same resistance pattern of CmTcSmSuApTpKm appeared to be similar. Restriction patterns by EcoRl and the behavior of plasmids in conjugation or transformation process were also similar between those plasmids. The restriction patterns were significantly different between the plasmids of Inc FI group and those of unclassified Inc group.
Boundary layer equations (partial differential equations) can be transformed to ordinary diffential equations with constant coeffieients in terms of similarity transformed to ordinary differential equations with constant coeffieients in terms of similarity transformations in the heat tranfer analysis on the surface of any axiaymmetric boiles. The azimuth functions can not be uniquely determined because of the singular behavior at the stagnation point(X=0.deg.).In spite of the azimuth functions behaving singularly, many of researchers have analyzed the heat transfer problem on a horizontal chlinder or a sphere, supposing the set of solutions( $H_{1}$ & G$_{1}$) of being yieled from the simple differential equation to be unique solution of therazimuth functions. In order to ascertain whether mathematical incompatibility as mentioned above can be admitted in the viewpoint of enginerring or not, condensation heat transfer coefficients on a sphere are computed for all azimuth functions( $H_{1}$ G$_{1}$ & $H_{2}$ G$_{2}$) and comparisons with the experimental result are discussed.
Fifty-three isolates of Fusarium graminearum were obtained from corn and barley samples in several provinces of Korea. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis of trichothecenes produced by these isolates revealed that 37 and 16 isolates were nivalenol (NIV)- and deoxynivalenol (DON)-chemotypes, respectively. Two hundred and seventy-five nitrate-nonutilizing (nit) mutants were obtained from the isolates. Of these mutants, 187 were identified as nit1, nit3, or NitM, but 88 could not be identified as one of these classes. The highest frequency of nit mutant was nit1 (65%), followed by nit3 (20%) and NitM (15%). Higher frequency of NitM was observed in DON-chemotypes than in NIV-chemotypes. The mutants were used for vegetative compatibility group (VCG) analysis by examining heterokaryosis using complementary mutant pairs. No heterokaryon formation was observed among all 1,248 pairwise combinations, suggesting that all isolates tested belong to different VCGs. Higher frequency of self-incompatibility was observed in NIV-chemotypes than in DON-chemotypes. These results suggest that the like-lihood of asexual genetic recombination may be very low I F. graminearum under the field condition.
To develop an effective and efficient measurement system for tracking changes of functional status across two measures, it is essential to integrate information and communicate scores across two measures. The lack of communication between two measures leads to score incompatibility. A potential solution would be the development of a crosswalk table between those measures. Prior to creating a crosswalk table, selecting common items between two measures is critical. By using the Oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire (Oswestry) and a short form measuring disability resulting from low back pain, item level statistics as well as differential item functioning (DIF) using the Rasch measurement were investigated. Eighty-two participants with known group validity were recruited. Based on the application of the Rasch measurement model, item difficulties across the two measures were logically and hierarchically ordered. Ceiling effects for both measures were detected, which were not be able to be effectively measured with the two measures. The DIF analysis across the two measures confirmed that five paired items were found to have DIF and five common items were selected for common items. Although five paired items function differently across the Oswestry and the short form, all items of both measures were well targeted study participants. The common items selected by the Rasch measurement model may be effective when creating a crosswalk table between the Oswestry and the short form.
