Quinalizarin-β-cyclodextrin 내포 착물을 이용한 수용액 시료의 흔적량 Co(II)의 분광형광법 정량 (Spectrofluorimetric determination of trace Co(II) in aqueous samples with quinalizarin-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex)

  • A technique on the determination of Co(II) in aqueous samples with quinalizarin-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex was developed. The conditions such as pH of the sample solution, the concentration of quinalizarin and the concentration of β-CD were optimized to 11.3(±0.2), 1.2×10−6 M and 8.0×10−6 M, respectively. Under these optimum conditions, the calibration curve of Co(II) was obtained over concentration range of 5.0×10−9 ~ 1.2×10−7 M. The detection limit was 4.2×10−9 M (0.25 ng/mL). For validating this proposed technique, aqueous samples(stream water, reservoir water and tap water) were used. Recovery yields of 95~105% were obtained. The relative standard deviation(%) in aqueous samples were less than 7.0%. Based on experimental results, it is proposed that this technique can be applied to the practical determination of Co(II).

  • ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin은 다른 분자를 포접하여 inclusion complex (포접착물)를 만드는 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 의약품, 농약, 식품, 화장품, 산화방지제, 휘발방지제, 흡습방지제, 퇴색방지제, 유화제 등의 다양한 용도로 사용되고 있다. 이러한 장점에도 불구하고 ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin은 물이나 유기용매에 대한 용해도가 낮아 사용에 제약을 받아왔다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 Bisphenol-A나 폴리우레탄(PU) 발포제인 cyclopropane에 대한 포접특성을 갖고 물이나 유기용매에 대한 용해도가 향상된 polyol type의 ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin 유도체를 합성한 후 그 특성을 고찰하였다. 연구결과 합성된 polyol을 사용해서 제조한 경질 PU foam은 기존의 polyol과 비교해서 더 우수한 열전도 특성과 압축강도를 나타내었다.

'Viral Cosmopolitanism' and the Politics of Identity Production/Destruction in Hari Kunzru's Transmission

  • Arjun Appadurai contends that "the new global cultural economy has to be seen as a complex, overlapping, disjunctive order that cannot any longer be understood in terms of existing center-periphery models" (32); though discerning and perhaps becoming more and more apt, Appadurai's observation of the breakdown of the "center-periphery" binary appears as mere "academic jargon" in the lives of new immigrants, tackling the murky waters of identity politics in the transcultural technoscape of modern America in Kunzru's Transmission. Kunzru's antihero is Arjun Mehta, a software technician, who comes to America with high hopes of realizing the "American Dream." To a certain extent, Arjun himself is culpable of resurrecting the "center" as he prioritizes America and its values over all else. Despite his best efforts, Arjun cannot prevail in the perilous politics of exclusion/inclusion, and is relegated into a "high-tech coolie," exploited for his technological savvy. Even as the "center-periphery" binary stays intact in the production of an (Asian) American identity, it becomes undone in the hands of this "would-be" American; ultimately denied inclusion into America, Arjun unleashes a destructive virus that has major global consequences. In a sense, the boundary that separates the center and the periphery comes down as both collectively become victims to Arjun's retributive malfeasance. Arjun seems to rely on the "American" promise that old allegiances (to a national identity) are now defunct and new ones can be easily forged; as Kunzru's Transmission demonstrates with the tragic story of Arjun, the complex politics of identity production in America does not necessarily deliver on this promise. This essay hence aims to examine the politics of (national) belonging in the age of transnationalism.

Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin 포접복합체 제조를 위한 초임계유체 공정 연구 (Study of a Supercritical Fluid Process for the Preparation of Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes)

  • 초임계유체를 이용한 공정을 통하여 물에 대해 난용성 성질을 지니는 약물인 itraconazole과 $2-hydroxypropyl-{\beta}-cyclodextrin(HP-{\beta}-CD)$의 포접복합체를 제조하였다. 제조된 포접복합체는 SEM, DSC, XRD 등을 이용하여 고체상태의 특성 분석을 수행하여 itraconazole의 결정성적 특성이 $HP-{\beta}-CD$와의 포접체를 형성하며 무정질적으로 변화된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. pH 1.2의 인공위액을 이용하여 수행된 수용액 내에서의 포접복합체의 용해도 및 용출시험 결과 itraconazole 원재료에 비하여 20-200배 정도의 증가된 용해도 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 초임계유체 공정을 통하여 얻어진 포접복합체의 용해도는 압력증가에 의한 이산화탄소 밀도 증가에 따라 증가하였으며 동일 조건에서 용액 중의 $HP-{\beta}-CD$의 함량이 높아질수록 증가하였다. $35^{\circ}C$, 140 bar의 공정 조건에서 itraconazole과 $HP-{\beta}-CD$의 구성 몰비가 1:3인 용액을 사용하였을 경우 itraconazole 원재료에 비하여 약 200배 이상의 용해도인 $758.6{\mu}g/mL$의 용해도를 지니는 포접복합체를 얻을 수 있었다. 용출시험 결과 투입 약물의 90% 이상이 용출 개시 5-10분 내에 용출되어 대조제로 사용한 시판제제 및 원재료에 비하여 매우 빠른 초기 방출률과 우수한 용출 특성을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 기존의 시간소비성 및 다단계의 포접체 제조공정을 개선할 수 있는 한 방법으로 초임계유체 공정이 적용될 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

벤조산 유도체와 베타 사이클로덱스트린의 복합체 형성반응에 의한 초음파 완화 (Ultrasonic relaxation associated with the complex formation of benzoic acid derivative and β-cyclodextrin)

  • 베타 사이클로덱스트린(${\beta}$-Cyclodextrin, ${\beta}$-CD)(호스트)과 벤조산 유도체(게스트)의 수용액에 대하여 $25^{\circ}C$, 광대역 주파수영역(0.2 MHz ~ 50 MHz)에서 초음파 흡수계수를 측정하여 호스트와 게스트의 복합체 형성반응의 속도론적 연구를 행하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 1 MHz이하의 초음파 흡수측정이 중요하다. ${\beta}$-CD와 벤조산 유도체의 상호작용에 의한 초음파 완화는 수 MHz영역에서 단일 완화현상의 전형적인 스펙트럼을 보였다. 단일완화현상의 원인은 ${\beta}$-CD와 벤조산 유도체의 복합체 형성반응에 의한 화학평행의 혼란상태에 의한것으로 해석하였다. 게스트 농도에 따른 완화주파수의 의존성으로부터 붕괴 속도상수($k_b=7.48{\times}10^6M^{-1}s^{-1}$), 평형상수($K=68.6M^{-1}$)를 결정하였다. 그리고 파장당 최대흡수치의 의존성으로부터 반응에 의한 표준체적변화(${\Delta}V=10.6{\times}10^{-6}m^3mol^{-1}$)를 구하였다. 또한 게스트 분자의 소수성 그룹이 복합체의 안정성에 중요한 역할을 하는 것을 알았다.

Influence of Various Cyclodextrins on the Stability of Hydrocortisone 17-Butyrate in Aqueous Solution

  • The stabilizing effects of $\alpha$-$\beta$-$\gamma$- and dimethyl-$\beta$-cyclodextrins $(\alpha$-, $\beta$-, $\gamma$- and DM-$\beta-$-CyDs) on the degradation of hydrocortisone 17-butyrate (HC-17B) in aqueous solution was investigated. Hc-17B underwent a facile hydroxide ion-catalyzed rearrangement to the less active 21-butyrate ester by the apparent first-order kinetics, and maximum stability of HC-17B was obtained at around pH 4.0. The stability of HC-17B was increased by inclusion complexation with $\alpha$-, $\gamma$- and DM-$\beta$-CyD in the pH range of 2.0-8.0 examined, whereas $\beta$-CyD accelerated the degradation of HC-17B at the pH higher than 5.0. The effects of ionic strength, solvent, temperature and CyD concentration were also investigated. Stability constants and apparent degradation rate constants of HC-17B-$\gamma$-CyD and HC-17B-DM-$\beta$-CyD complexes were determined kinetically on the basis of 1:1 complexation. The results suggested that the inclusion complexation with $\gamma$-CyD or DM-$\beta$-CyD was most useful means to enhance the stability of the steroid.

A resistivity anomaly at 380 K in reproduced LK-99

  • To confirm the room-temperature superconductivity at ambient pressure as claimed in recent arXiv preprints by Lee et al., we followed the original authors' systematic solid-state synthesis recipe to reproduce Cu-doped Pb-apatite, known as LK-99. Using X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy, we identified inclusion of various impurities alongside the apatite phase in our sample. While the sample exhibited an overall semiconducting behavior in electrical transport, an intriguing resistivity anomaly at 380 K was observed, possibly originating from a structural phase transition of the Cu2-δS impurity. Based on the transport and magnetization measurements, we conclude that the sample is a non-magnetic semiconductor, with absence of superconductivity.

Multiobjective size and topolgy optimization of dome structures

  • The size and topology of geometrically nonlinear dome structures are optimized thereby minimizing both its entire weight & joint (node) displacements and maximizing load-carrying capacity. Design constraints are implemented from provisions of American Petroleum Institute specification (API RP2A-LRFD). In accordance with the proposed design constraints, the member responses computed by use of arc-length technique as a nonlinear structural analysis method are checked at each load increment. Thus, a penalization process utilized for inclusion of unfeasible designations to genetic search is correspondingly neglected. In order to solve this complex design optimization problem with multiple objective functions, Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA II) approach is employed as a multi-objective optimization tool. Furthermore, the flexibility of proposed optimization is enhanced thereby integrating an automatic dome generating tool. Thus, it is possible to generate three distinct sphere-shaped dome configurations with varying topologies. It is demonstrated that the inclusion of brace (diagonal) members into the geometrical configuration of dome structure provides a weight-saving dome designation with higher load-carrying capacity. The proposed optimization approach is recommended for the design optimization of geometrically nonlinear dome structures.

얼굴 인식을 통한 동적 감정 분류 (Dynamic Emotion Classification through Facial Recognition)

  • Human emotions are expressed in various ways. It can be expressed through language, facial expression and gestures. In particular, the facial expression contains many information about human emotion. These vague human emotion appear not in single emotion, but in combination of various emotion. This paper proposes a emotional expression algorithm using Active Appearance Model(AAM) and Fuzz k- Nearest Neighbor which give facial expression in similar with vague human emotion. Applying Mahalanobis distance on the center class, determine inclusion level between center class and each class. Also following inclusion level, appear intensity of emotion. Our emotion recognition system can recognize a complex emotion using Fuzzy k-NN classifier.

  • Mesothermal, tellurium-bearing gold-silver vein mineralization of the Yuryang mine was formed in mineralogically complex quartz-sulfide veins that filled the fault fractures in Precambrian gneiss within Gyeonggi Massif. Ore grades average 179 g/ton gold with a gold/silver ratio of 1.5 : 1. Ore mineralization was deposited in single stage. Major ore mineralization can be divided into two mineralization phases with increasing paragenetic time: Fe-sulfide and base-metal mineralization phase $\rightarrow$ telluride mineralization phase.
