  • Finish machining of a curved surface is often carried out by an NC system with curved interpolation in a high speed machining strategies. This study aims to develop the NURBS interpolator for the PC-NC based machine tools. In the case of a finish cut using a ball-end mill in high speed machining, low machinability at the bottom of a tool produces a harmful effect on surface roughness. The developed interpolator considers the relation between inclined angle, surface roughness, and feed rate, and adjusts real-time feed rate in order to generate surfaces which have isotropic surface roughness. The proposed interpolator is fully implemented and an experimental results are shown.

  • We investigate the triboelectrostatic separation of polyvinylchloride (PVC) from mixed plastics in the laboratory scale triboelectrostatic separation system. The flow and electric fields in the precipitator are obtained from the numerical solution of finite volume method. Using these flow and electric fields, we solved the particle motion equation considering the inertia, drag, gravity and electrostatic forces acted on the particles. The particle trajectories are obtained using a Lagrangian method as a function of different important variables such as Reynolds number, Stokes number, electrostatic force, electric charge and electric field distribution, inclined angle of plane electrodes, particle rebounding, particle charge decay rate after impact on the electrode surface, etc., in order to determine the optimal design conditions. The present predicted results for the cumulative yield represent well the experimental ones.

  • The transition from a statified wavy to a slug flow has been analyzed considering the mechanistic forces acting on the wave crest in a nearly horizontal air-water countercurrent flow. To verify the results of the analysis, a series of experiments have been performed changing the inclination angle of the test section. Comparisons of the theoretical predictions with experimental data show a good agreement and the results show that the present model gives similar results of Taitel and Dukler's in the case of inclined pipes. However, at high superficial liquid velocity, the results of present work agree more closely with data than that of Taitel and Dukler's. Also, predictions of the present model gives a very close agreement with the experimental data for various tube sizes obtained by others.

  • Laminar natural convection heat transfer from a hot body in a square enclosure has been stooled for various inclination angles at $Gr=1.5{\times}10^5$, Pr= 0.71 and $k_s/k_f=14710$. The area of a hot body is 1/25 of the enclosure and the aspect ratio is 1.0. The total mean Nusselt number decreases as the inclination angle increases and in case of ${\theta}=90^{\circ}$ is 14% lower than that of ${\theta}=0^{\circ}$.

  • As a follow-up of our previous studies on flow-induced forces on two identical nearby circular cylinders immersed in the cross flow at Re=100 and flow patterns past them,$^{(1,2)}$ we present Reynolds-number effects on the forces and patterns by further computing flows with Re=40, 50, 160. We consider all possible arrangements of the two circular cylinders in terms of the distance between the two cylinders and the angle inclined with respect to the main flow direction. Collecting all the numerical results obtained, we propose contour diagrams for mean force coefficients and their rms of fluctuation as well as for flow patterns and Strouhal number for each Re. These diagrams shed light on a comprehensive picture on how the wake interaction between the two cylinders alters depending on Re.

  • For the various RP processes and machines, quantitative comparisons were carried out, which include the variations of roughness according to inclined angle of surface, tensile strength and heat-resistance, shape accuracy affected by curl distortion, manufacturability of submilli-scale structure, and manufacturing speed. It was observed that steeper surface results in smoother roughness except Eden500V of Objet. Specimen made by LOM process showed the best heat-resistance, but that of SL process had heat-resistance only up to $60^{\circ}C$. Generally, tensile strength in the building direction was shown to be smaller than in the scanning direction, but SL process showed the opposite results. RM6000II of CMET was superior in the manufacturing small-scale structure below 0.2mm, and Z510 of Zcorp. and ViperPRO of 3D systems were great in manufacturing speed.

  • The geometric and elastic models based on the unit cell have been proposed to predict the geometric characteristics and the engineering constants of plain and satin woven composites. In the geometric model, length and inclined angle of the yarn crimp and the fiber volume fraction of woven composites have been predicted. In the elastic model, the coordinate transformation has been utilized to transform the elastic constants of the yarn crimp to those of woven composites, and the effective elastic constants have been determined from the volume averaging of the constituent materials. Good correlations between the model predictions and the experimental results of carbon/epoxy and glass/epoxy woven composites have been observed. Based on the model, the effect of various geometric parameters and materials on the three-dimensional elastic properties of woven composites can be identified.

So this study aims to identify the exterior connection facilities for handicapped students of S and D campuses. The summaries of this research are as follows. Installations of even crossing area(1.5mx1.5m) per 50m and even rest area(1.5mx1.5m) per 30m in walking or access ramp. Improving in accordance with exterior connection facility repairing master plan in S campus. Bringing down an angle degrees of the inclined walking or access ramp in D campus. Installation of exterior braille guide sign for blind students. All handicapped students must be guaranteed the same learning rights as normal men to remove obstacles as the upper mentioned imperfections in using exterior campus facilities.

  • In the tensile loading of sheet metals made from polycrystalline aluminum alloys, a single deformation band appears inclined to the elongation axis in the early stage of plastic deformation, and symmetric double bands are observed in the later stage. This character of the localized deformation bands has been analyzed by a perturbation method. Macroscopic slip modes composed of slip planes and slip directions were assumed to describe the tensile and shear strains. Along time integration path, the value of the perturbation growth parameter was checked to find at which angle to the elongation axis the localized deformation bands are generated. It was shown that the mode of the localized deformation is related to asymmetry of material property.

  • Blast walls are integral structures at the typical offshore topside module to provide safety barriers for personnel and critical equipment against any blast loading and hydrocarbon explosions. The blast wall structures are usually configured with stainless steel. It can be referred as the good mechanical properties of the stainless steel against blast load, which features the characteristics of significant energy absorption and ductility. In this study, the proposed designs of corrugated panel are examined in order to determine the best design which satisfies the design criteria. The criteria on maximum deflection and stress are used to decide the best design. The effect of inclined angle of profile on deformation characteristics of blast wall is also performed. The numerical study was performed by using NX Nastran 7.5.
