An Evaluation of Airports' Service Provision Based on Consumer Perception (소비자 인식에 따른 주요공항의 서비스 평가)

  • This research has been carried out for assessing the competitiveness of the major Asian airports based on the quality of service provision. Five airports were selected for evaluation: Hong Kong, Singapore Changi, Tokyo Narita, Bangkok Don Muang, and Seoul Incheon International Airport. For evaluation of these selected airports, AHP and IPA techniques were applied. Five main factors were defined through a literature review of previous studies: concreteness, convenience, economic efficiency, respondency, and accessability. Hong Kong International Airport had the strongest airport in the Asian region, followed by Incheon International Airport. The least competitive airports were Bangkok and Tokyo Narita International Airport in regards to users' perception for the provision of services at the airport.

  • The aim of the study is to investigate the factors which decide an airport service quality and the differentiation of perception on the airport service quality between airport users and airport authority. For the purpose of this study, the determinants of airport service quality were factors analyzed on the basis of service marketing concept. In order to identify an airport service quality dimension, the writer conducted mail survey and individual interview from the Korean freight forwarders, the 3PL entities, integrators and the airport operation authority. The result of this study is summarized as follows. 1. The dimen measurement was confirmed as a superior method to dimension of service competitiveness.sions of airport service quality consist of five factors; tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy. 2. There are notable differences in cognition of airport service quality between airport authority's perception and airport customer, and between airport customer's perception and expectation.

  • This research seeks to investigate transfer passengers' service evaluations of an airport. Transfer passengers are important for many airlines and hub airports because the needs of transfer passengers are quite different from O&D passengers. Despite the increasing importance of transfer passengers for airport operations, little research has been done to analyze their needs toward airport services. The data are collected from Japanese and Chinese transfer passengers to investigate airport services at Incheon International Airport. Through the survey, this research investigates the effects of important airport service attributes on customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions.

  • Recently Following changes in the airport industry, this study aims to investigate the relationship between physical servicescape elements, a travelers' enjoyment and/or anxiety, and traveler satisfaction in the airport environment context. Six airport service scape factorsd design, scent, functional organization, air/lighting conditions, seating, and cleanlinessd should be considered when evaluating traveler response. airport design features and pleasant scent have a positive influence on traveler enjoyment, generating satisfaction. This study also provides valuable implications for airport design, organization and development. By combining previous research on servicescapes and airport design, this study confirms the significance of servicescape attributes in transit service settings in Inchon international airport. The results of this study may help airport industry practitioners understand the airport environment from a passenger's perspective.

  • After a series of aircraft noise measurements conducted in Noise Sensitive Areas(NSAs) in Gangwha Island, there appeared to be no regions affected by aircraft noise of over 75 WECPNL, the legal noise level standard for aircraft operations. However, with regard to the future environment where flight operations at Incheon International Airport are likely to escalate, an INM analysis result drawn shows that the number of regions afflicted by such noise will increase in Gangwha Island. Therefore, we studied similar cases from developed countries, which are pertinent to solutions for aircraft noise abatement in the vicinity of airports and herewith provided 6 more flight operation procedures other than those 3 currently in service at Incheon International Airport.

Estimation of Running Safety of Electric Multiple Unit for Express Train in Incheon International Airport Railway (인천국제공항철도 직통형 차량의 주행안전성 평가)

  • For the safety of railway, it should be evaluated for the running safety by measuring the derailment coefficient. Although railway has run the fixed and maintained rail, some of railway is derailed. This report shows the results that performed the static load test, wheelset manufacturing for test, main line running test on the basis of the derailment theory and experience. It is executed main line test to 120 km/h for estimating the running safety of express train in Incheon International Airport. As the test results, could confirm the curving performance and running safety of Incheon International Airport EMU from the results of the wheel unloading, lateral force, derailment coefficient etc. Derailment coefficient was less than 0.8, and lateral force allowance limit and wheel load reduction ratio were enough safe.

  • Recently, harmonic problem affect a great effect on power system. Especially, Incheon International Airport is a very important place in view of safety and reliability of power. In this paper we measure the harmonics at incheon international airport, especially passenger terminal. With the results we analysis the results and propose the guideline of harmonic reduction method. To do this we compare various kinds of specification for harmonic restrictions.

Effective Connecting Methods Between Incheon International Airport Railroad and Existing Railroads (인천국제공항철도와 기존 철도의 효율적인 연계방안)

  • The Incheon International Amort Railroad (IIAR) is the railroad that connects Incheon International Airport, Gimpo Airport and Seoul Station. IIAR is now under construction, and it will be finished to Gimpo Amort by 2006, to Seoul Station by 2008. But IIAR is not only so late to start but also has no discussion about effective connecting methods to existing railroads and fine operation plan. Therefore, after IIAR opens, it is possible for IIAR to lose to limousine bus using highway. So, this paper proposes 4 effective connecting methods for IIAR - (1) Shuttle transport, (2) Short-distance connecting transport (Inside IIAR, Seoul Subway Line 9, 'Han-River line') (3) Mid-distance connecting transport (Jung-ang, Tae-baek, Young-dong line) (4) Long-distance connecting transport (Korean Train express (korean high speed railroad)) These methods can increase the connectivity of IIAR with existing railroads and the competition power of IIAR against highway.

  • Main airports in the Intra-Asian market have faced competition not only to attract China-bound transshipment cargoes but also to be hub airport in same region. In spite of such a importance, the previous research has been short of evaluation of airport competitiveness. Implication of the previous research has mainly been focused on evaluation of airport critical factor service qualify and efficiency. The aim of this paper is to present critical points that affect airport competitiveness using an algorithm based on reversed fuzzy evaluation and senario method. The results of senario analysis and reversed fuzzy evaluation shows that Incheon international airport needs to enhance service level of 7% as a result of senario analysis and service level of 5% and brand equity level of 10% at the same time as a result of reversed fuzzy evaluation analysis, to ensure competitiveness in same region.
