국내 임상약학 교과과정 현황 및 미국 교과과정과의 비교 (Examination of Clinical Pharmacy Curriculum in Korea and Its Comparison to the U.S. Curriculum)

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the 6-year clinical pharmacy curriculum in Korea among 35 schools of pharmacy and to compare the pharmacy practice experience curriculum with the U.S. Methods: Data on the 6-year clinical pharmacy curriculum was collected and analyzed from 35 schools of pharmacy in Korea. Data were collected from each school's website, or through professors in clinical pharmacy or the administrative office, when not available online. Guidance for U.S. clinical pharmacy curriculum was referenced from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Accreditation Standards and Guidelines. Results: Pharmacotherapy was the only course that was offered in every school of pharmacy with average of $11.5{\pm}2.8$ credit hours offered. Only six subjects were offered in more than half of the schools. Average pharmacy practice experience credit hours in Korea were $1.8{\pm}0.6$, $7.8{\pm}1.5$, $4.9{\pm}1.2$, $3.5{\pm}1.1$, $11.8{\pm}1.2$ in introductory, hospital, community, pharmaceutical industry and administration, and intensified pharmacy practice experience, respectively. While the U.S. required introductory pharmacy practice experience (IPPE) to be conducted in the real pharmacy setting, the IPPE in Korea was conducted as an in-class simulation. The total required hours of IPPEs and APPEs were 1400 hours in Korea and 1740 (300+1440) hours in the U.S. Conclusion: Clinical pharmacy curriculum in Korea is offered through a variety of courses and the pharmacy practice experience curriculum has been adopted by every school of pharmacy. A guidance outlining the major required contents of clinical pharmacy curriculum could help standardize and advance the clinical pharmacy education in Korea.

학제에 따른 치위생과 학생의 임상실습 만족도와 관련 요인 (Influencing factors of and satisfaction with clinical practice between college and university dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: This research aimed to identify the influential factors that affect the satisfaction of dental hygiene students' clinical training between college and university and contribute to improvement in clinical practice quality. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 210 dental clinical hygienists from June 10 to August 30, 2018. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. An independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's post-hoc test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were employed, and a stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed. Results: Regarding the influential factors of satisfaction with clinical practice among dental hygiene students, in the case of college students, dental hygienist practice instructor dummy, self-efficacy, satisfaction of school life, interpersonal relation was the increasing order. In the case of university students, dental hygienist practice instructors, subjective health, satisfaction with school life, and interpersonal relations was the increasing order. Conclusions: The most influential factor of dental hygiene students' clinical practice satisfaction between college and university was the ability to form interpersonal relationships. Therefore, to increase the satisfaction of dental hygiene students with clinical practice between college and university, external sources and efforts to emphasize internal sources are required.

치위생과 학생들의 임상교육성취도에 미치는 영향 (Study on the Influential Factors Regarding Achivement of Clinical Practice in Dental hygiene)

  • The purpose of this study was to serve as a basis for better student practice in dental hygiene and for determining educational direction for dental hygiene clinical education by examining what students and clinical-practice instructors thought on clinical practice and what factors gave an impact to clinical education. For attaining the purpose, an investigation was made of 449 third-grade students in the department of dental hygiene at seven educational institutes in Seoul and Kyoung-gi province. 246 instructors in charge of the clinical practice of the students at dental hospital or clinics were also examined. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The instructors and students had different opinions on the number of trainees, training time, beginning of training, and assessment(p<0.05). The instructors thought that a trainee was appropriate for an instructor(59.8%), and that training time was not sufficient(30.8%). They considered it proper for students to start practice during the summer vacation of second year(21.5%), and responded that assessment should be done by the dentist, dental hygienist or professor in charge(44.7%). However, the students had an idea that an instructor should take charge of 2 or 3 trainees(47.4%), and that there was a lot of training time(55.7%). They considered it appropriate to start practice in the first term of second grade(l9A%), and thought the assessment should be made by the dentist and dental hygienist in charge(44.8%). 2. The students' satisfaction was clinical practice was affected(p<0.05) by their own selection of training institutes(28.1%), the absence of trainee from other colleges(29.4%), ample practice time(28.3%), implementation of student assessment once a day(45.3%), diverse practice opportunities (45.5%), and easy traffic to the training institute(32.9%). 3. The achivement of clinical practice was influenced by practice opportunities, the degree of faithful treatment performance, the frequency of student assessment, the number of trainees, traffic to training institutes, assistance in understanding theoretical knowledge of clinical practice, and assessment methods(p<0.05).

비학점형 실습인 임상 인턴십이 임상실무와 교육만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Non-credit Internship for the Clinical Practice and the Educational Satisfaction)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this research was to verify the effects of the clinical practice and the educational satisfaction through internship program on students of health-related majors. Methods : We investigated 120 students using a self-reporting method with experience of internship program. A statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 for window version. Results : It showed that educational satisfaction had scored 4.18 in curriculum, 4.16 in environment, 4.16 in schedule, 4.32 in teaching and 3.82 in evaluation, 4.21 in satisfaction for clinical practice. Conclusion : It was revealed by this survey that the educational satisfaction of internship program in school hospital had higher score in curriculum, environment, schedule, evaluation, teaching and clinical practice. To maximize the effects of internship program, a clinical internship program in school hospital is needed and further research and attention are suggested.

임상실습이 치위생 전공학생의 전문직 정체성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of clinical practice of dental hygiene students on professional identity)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to get the data necessary for dental hygiene students to perceive the need for establishing a professional identity as dental hygienists and developing a program which reinforce pride as a preliminary professional. Methods : The subjects were 695 dental hygiene students in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungcheong areas. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS program. Results : 1. The professional identity of dental hygiene students was 3.02 points, and the satisfaction with institutes for practice was 2.96 points. 2. The higher the satisfaction with the major was, the higher the identity was. Also, the identity was high when the frequency of clinical practice was 1 (3.11 points) and when they selected their major which corresponds with his aptitude (3.20 points). 3. The satisfaction with clinical practice was high when they didn't have any experience in dental clinic before clinical practice and when the satisfaction with the major was high. 4. Regarding the correlation between the professional identity and the satisfaction with clinical practice, the higher the satisfaction with clinical practice, the higher the professional identity. 5. The effective variables regarding the professional identity were satisfaction with a major, satisfaction with clinical practice, and frequency of clinical practice. Conclusions : The professional identity of students may be established through school education involving clinical practice. The identity of students may affect the occupational satisfaction, the identity and the work efficiency of dental hygienists in the future. Thus, it is deemed necessary to have a continued collaborative relationship between a school and an institute for clinical practice so that students may establish their correct views and identity.

조기진통 사정 알고리즘은 실습 시 조기진통 관련 지식, 임상수행자신감, 교육만족도에 유효한가?: 유사실험 연구 (Does a preterm labor-assessment algorithm improve preterm labor-related knowledge, clinical practice confidence, and educational satisfaction?: a quasi-experimental study)

  • Purpose: Preterm birth is increasing, and obstetric nurses should have the competency to provide timely care. Therefore, training is necessary in the maternal nursing practicum. This study aimed to investigate the effects of practice education using a preterm-labor assessment algorithm on preterm labor-related knowledge and clinical practice confidence in senior nursing students. Methods: A pre-post quasi-experimental design with three groups was used for 61 students. The preterm-labor assessment algorithm was modified into three modules from the preterm-labor assessment algorithm by March of Dimes. We evaluated preterm labor-related knowledge, clinical practice confidence, and educational satisfaction. Data were analyzed with the paired t-test and repeated-measures analysis of variance. Results: The practice education using a preterm-labor assessment algorithm significantly improved both preterm labor-related knowledge and clinical practice confidence (paired t=-7.17, p<.001; paired t=-5.51, p<.001, respectively). The effects of the practice education using a preterm-labor assessment algorithm on knowledge lasted until 8 weeks but decreased significantly at 11 and 13 weeks after the program, while the clinical practice confidence significantly decreased at 8 weeks post-program. Conclusion: The practice education using a preterm-labor assessment algorithm was effective in improving preterm labor-related knowledge and clinical practice confidence. The findings suggest that follow-up education should be conducted at 8 weeks, or as soon as possible thereafter, to maintain knowledge and clinical confidence, and the effects should be evaluated.

임상실습 전 시뮬레이션 기반 교육이 간호학생의 간호지식, 임상실습 불안, 임상수행 능력에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Simulation-Based Education before Clinical Experience on Knowledge, Clinical Practice Anxiety, and Clinical Performance Ability in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of simulation-based education on nursing knowledge, anxiety, and clinical performance ability in nursing students before their first clinical practice. Methods: Third-year university students who had not yet entered their first clinical practice were recruited to participate in the study. Nineteen students formed the experimental group and participated in simulation-based education for 7 sessions. The 19 students in the control group were provided with clinical practice orientation in the form of traditional lectures. Outcome measures assessed nursing knowledge, clinical practice anxiety, and clinical performance ability. Data were collected before and immediately after the simulation-based education and after six weeks of clinical practice. Results: Nursing knowledge and clinical anxiety were not statistically significant between the groups. However, there was a significant improvement in the clinical performance abilities of the experimental group. Among the subcategories, the ability to apply the nursing process and the ability to educate and cooperate were shown to maintain significant differences from the control group by the end of the six weeks of clinical practice. Conclusion: The simulation prior to nursing students' first clinical practice could be useful to improve clinical performance ability. Nursing educators should consider building programs to reduce anxiety and improve performance ability through simulations.

Developmental procedures for the clinical practice guidelines for conscious sedation in dentistry for the Korean Academy of Dental Sciences

  • Background: Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are defined as "statements that are scientifically reviewed about evidence and systematically developed to assist in the doctors' and patients' decision making in certain clinical situations." This recommendation aims to promote good clinical practice for the provision of safe and effective practices of conscious sedation in dentistry. Method: The development of this clinical practice guideline was conducted by performing a systematic search of the literature for evidence-based CPGs. Existing guidelines, relevant systematic reviews, policy documents, legislation, or other recommendations were reviewed and appraised. To supplement this information, key questions were formulated by the Guideline Development Group and used as the basis for designing systematic literature search strategies to identify literature that may address these questions. Guideline documents were evaluated through a review of domestic and international databases for the development of a renewing of existing conscious sedation guidelines for dentistry. Clinical practice guidelines were critically appraised for their methodologies using Appraisal of guidelines for research and evaluation (AGREE) II. Results: A total of 12 existing CPGs were included and 13 recommendations were made in a range of general, adult, and pediatric areas. Conclusion: The clinical practice guidelines for conscious sedation will be reviewed in 5 years' time for further updates to reflect significant changes in the field.

간호대학생의 스트레스, 우울 및 임상실습만족도와의 관계 (Relationship among Stress, Depression, and Satisfaction to Clinical Practice among Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among stress, depression, and satisfaction to clinical practice in nursing students. Methods: Three hundred forty-five nursing college students were selected by convenient sampling and data were collected from October to November, 2011. Results: The nursing students experienced moderate stress level. The most severe stressors were adjustment to school and clinical practice. Also, they experienced more than moderate level of satisfaction on clinical practice. The most satisfiable factors were clinical practice circumstance and practice hours. The sophomore had more severe stress and depression and had lower clinical practice satisfaction than the junior. Satisfying with major in nursing as well as clinical practice had a significantly negative correlation with stress and depression. Conclusion: Based on this results, we need to develop programs for increasing satisfaction to clinical practice and major in nursing. The program will enhance adaptation ability to clinical practice.

물리치료 전공 대학생의 임상실습 경험에 따른 손 씻기의 인식도와 실천도에 관한 연구 (A study on the awareness and practice of hand washing according to the clinical practice experience of physical therapy students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 임상실습 경험에 따른 물리치료 대학생들의 손 씻기에 대한 인식도와 실천도를 조사하여 물리치료학과 학생의 손 씻기에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 광주광역시 소재의 물리치료학과 대학생을 대상으로 총 536부의 설문조사하여 자료를 수집하였다. 대상자의 일반적 특성을 빈도분석으로 산출하였고, 임상실습 유·무의 손 씻기에 대한 인식도와 실천도를 독립표본 t-test로 분석하였다. 임상실습 유·무에 따른 손 씻기 인식도를 분석한 결과, 손목까지 손 씻기에서 유의한 차이를 보였고(p<0.05) 올바른 손 씻기 6단계에서 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.01). 임상실습 유·무에 따른 손 씻기 실천도를 분석한 결과, 식전과 임상실습 전 손 씻기에서 유의한 차이를 보였고(p<0.05) 실습기구 접촉 후 손 씻기, 엄지손가락부터 손가락 돌리며 손 씻기에서 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.01). 인식도와 실천도 사이의 상관관계를 분석한 결과 대부분 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 이는 손 씻기에 대한 인식도를 높여서 실천도를 높아야 함을 의미한다. 따라서, 앞으로 학교 내와 임상실습 내에서 자체적으로 손 씻기 교육을 반복적으로 실시하여 인식도와 실천도를 높여야 할 것으로 사료된다.
