One of the common complications that can occur during coil embolization of cerebral aneurysms, is migration of coil lump alone. The removal of these migrated coils has been reported on a few occasions. On the other hand, rare complications would include the migration of the coil with subsequent stent dislocation. Currently, there is no standardized method to correct the complications of stent dislocation, and very few instances of this complication have been reported previously. In this report, we introduce a case of coil migration combined with stent dislocation. This occurred during coil embolization of an unruptured aneurysm of the distal, left internal carotid artery for a 52-year old woman. We retrieved both the damaged stent and migrated coil using another retrievable stent successfully with no more further complications. In the present report, we describe in detail how we corrected the complication successfully stent, and we discuss why this rescue maneuver is reasonable option for the complication mentioned above.
The introduction of osseointegrated dental implants in dentistry brought about a new era in everyday dental practice. For the past 50 years, prosthetic restoration with implant-supported prosthesis has developed into a viable and predictable treatment option. Alongside the increasing use of dental implants is the occurrence of many complications during implant placement (surgery), in the mechanical or prosthetic problem, and in the biological aspect. In particular, abutment or screw fracture as one of the mechanical complications can put the dentist in a tight spot in a clinical situation. It is hard to remove the fractured abutment and screw to restore it properly. Therefore, it is very important that clinicians consider possible complications in advance and make an appropriate treatment plan. We discuss cases of abutment fracture and mechanical/prosthetic complications together with the causes and solutions.

Percutaneous nephrostomy is relatively safe for temporary urinary diversion. However, colonic perforation due to percutaneous nephrostomy can happen with an incidence of 0.2% as reported in the English literatures. To our knowledge, this is the first case being reported as a complication following treatment for traumatic renal injury. This paper is to share our treatment approach which differs from the usual approach according to existing literatures. We report on a young man who sustained grade IV renal injury due to blunt trauma and was managed conservatively. The treatment of traumatic renal injury via urinary diversion was complicated with an iatrogenic colonic perforation. The management and subsequent treatment of this patient is discussed in this case report.
This study was retrospectively reviewed and analysis of postoperative local complication on all patient undergoing thyroid operation of 242 cases of thyroid disease, at Department of General Surgery, Chosun University Hospital from January 1988 to December 1992. The result were follow: Postoperative local complication are as follow; 52 cases of transient hypocalcemia, 7 cases of thansient hoarseness, 3 cases of permanent hypocalcemia, 2 cases of permanent hoarseness, and other local complication were postoperative bleeding with airway obstraction, hematoma, infection. In pathologic classification according to complicative patients; The most common frequency of complication in benign disease was Graves' disease with 13 cases(54.2%), and the most frequency of complication in malignance disease was follicalar adenocarcinoma with 7 cases(53.9%). The frequency of complication according to operation procedure were unilateral lobectomy in 31 cases(19.9%), subtotal thyroidectomy in 15 cases(39.5%), near total thyroidectomy in 12 cases (44.4%), and total thyroidectomy in 10 cases(55.6%). There was a significant relationship between extent of operative procedure and frequency of complication. The incidence of local complication after thyroid resection was 57 of 196(29.1%) in the benign disease that was 15 of 26(57.7 %) in the intrathyroidal carcinoma and 13 of 20(65.0%) in the extrathyroidal carcinoma. There was significant different in frequency of local complication according to invasion and malignance of pathologic lesion. The most frequent complication after thyroid resection is transient hypocalcemia ; 39 of 196(19.9%) in the benign disease, 7 of 26(26.9%) in the intrathyroida1 carcinoma, and 6 of 10(30.0%) in the extrathyroidal carcinoma. Their complication rate increased in direct relationship to the invasion and malignance of pathologic lesion, but there was no statistically significant. Transient hypocalcemia was encountered in 52 cases of the total 242 patient(21.9%) ; 29 of 156(18.6%) after unilateral lobectomy, 9 of 38(23.7%) after subtotal thyroidectomy, and 5 of 18(27.8 %) after total thyroidectomy. The relation ship between temporal hypocalcemia and the extent of surgery was not statistically significant.
In order to determine the factors affecting the length of stay by pay status, a total of 961 in-patients medical records with appendectomy. cholecystectomy and Cesarean section discharged from the January 1979 to December 1981 from the University hospital were reviewed. Average length of stay showed no statistically significant difference by year between the insured and the non-insured patients, however multiple diagnoses and surgical complication were significantly different from single diagnosis and non-complicated cases. Surgical complication explained the length of stay mostly, and physician in discharge, multiple diagnoses, and accommodation in order for insured patients. Surgical complication, admission route, physician in charge and age in order explained the length of stay for non-insured patients.

Pseudoaneurysm with arteriovenous fistula is a rare complication of arthroscopy, and can be diagnosed by ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, or angiography. This condition can be treated with open surgical repair or endovascular repair. We report our experience with the open surgical repair of a pseudoaneurysm with an arteriovenous fistula in a young male patient who underwent arthroscopy five months previously.

Cardiac complications such as arrhythmia and heart failure are common in Graves disease. Early detection and proper treatment of hyperthyroidism are important because cardiac complications are reported to be reversible if the thyroid function is normalized by medical treatment. We report here a case of cardiac complication of Graves disease that was too late to reverse with medical treatment and required surgical treatment.

Humeral head chondrolysis has been widely reported as a devastating complication after arthroscopic shoulder surgery; however little is known about post-arthroscopic humeral head osteonecrosis. We experienced a 66-year-old female patient with rapidly progressive osteonecrosis of the humeral head only seven months after arthroscopic Bankart and rotator cuff repair. The patient had no systemic risk factors for osteonecrosis. A satisfactory result was achieved with reverse total shoulder arthroplasty for severe humeral head destruction and an irreparable massive rotator cuff tear. Shoulder surgeons should be aware of such severe complication, perform routine radiographs, and pay close attention to the presence of constant pain or loss of motion after arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
For study the influencing factors to the complication after pneumonectomy, authors performed retrospective analysis in 33 patients managed surgically from February 1985 to February 1994 in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Pusan National University Hospital.Among 33 patients, the underlying diseases were distributed 15 patients[45.5% pulmonary tuberculosis, 14[42.% lung cancer and 4[12.1% bronchiectasis. Numbers of complication according to the underlying disease after pneumonectomy were 8 in pulmonary tuberculosis, 2 in lung cancer and 1 in brochiectasis. Study was analyzed on age, sex distribution, etiology of underlying diseases and operated sides contributing to the complication. The results were characterized that the rate of occurrence of complication after pneumonectomy was not affected by age, sex and operated side differences but affected by the underlying disease. The development of complication after pneumonectomy in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis revealed statistically borderline significance comparing to the others[p=0.07 .
Delay in diagnosis is possible in bone tumor located in the foot because it is rare. We experienced one case of osteoid osteoma located at the navicular bone of the foot which was slowly progressive and complicated with calcaneocuboidal joint, talonavicular joint arthritis. Osteoid osteoma of the navicular bone in the foot is rare. It bring about unwanted delay in diagnosis, complication. It is necessary to diagnose and treat in early situation to prevent complication and unnecessary operation.
