Asynchronous Traffic Multi-Hop Transmission Scheme for N-Screen Services in Indoor and Ship Area Networks (선박 및 실내 N-스크린 서비스를 위한 비동기 트래픽 멀티홉 전송 기술)

  • In this paper, a WiMedia Distributed-MAC (D-MAC) protocol is adopted for development of a seamless N-screen wireless service in Indoor and Ship Area Networks. Furthermore, to provide the OSMU (One Source Multi Use) N-screen service through P2P streaming in the seamless D-MAC protocol, a ATMT (Asynchronous Traffic Multi-hop Transmission) technology is proposed and analyzed. In this system, a WiMedia ATMT D-MAC bridge transmits control and managing information to various sensors and instruments, from a central integrated ship area network station. For this technology, a time slot allocation scheme for WiMedia asynchronous traffic and a multi-hop resource reservation scheme are combined to evaluate the performance of each scheme. From simulation results, the proposed ATMT scheme enhances performances in viewpoints of N-screen asynchronous data latency and throughput, compared to the conventional WiMedia D-MAC system.

  • 최근 IPv6 기반 WiBro 망에서 다수의 사용자가 동종망간 혹은 이기종망간 인터넷 연결을 유지하면서 그룹으로 이동하는 상황에서의 핸드오버 처리 폭증 및 핸드오버 지연 시간 문제를 효율적으로 해결할수 있는 기술 및 시스템이 요구되어 지고 있다. 본 이동 AP는 IPv6 기반 WiBro 망에서 다양한 광대역무선망 접속 및 다양한 하향 단말 접속이 가능한 하드웨어 기반에 네트워크 이동성 기술를 구현하여 IPv6 기반 WiBro 네트워크 실, 내외 환경에서 이동성을 지원하지 않는 다수의 단말들이 네트워크 이동시 각 단말들의 이동성 처리가 수행됨을 확인하였으며 관련 서비스 연속성이 유지됨을 시험을 통해 확인 할 수 있었다.

Pharmacognostical Studies on the 'Suk Wi' (석위의 생약학적 연구)

  • The Korean crude drug 'Suk Wi' has been used as the folk remedy for diuretic and gonorrhea. The botanical origin of the crude drug has never been studied pharmacognostically. To clarify the botanical origin of Suk Wi, studied on the morphological and anatomical characteristics of Pyrrosia species growing wild in Korea i.e., P. linearifolia, P. lingua, P. petiolosa, P. tricuspis and Suk Wi from Korea on Korean market. As a result, it was made clear that Suk Wi from Korea was derived from Pyrrosia lingua and P. petiolosa.

Wi-Fi RSSI Heat Maps Based Indoor Localization System Using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

  • An indoor localization system that uses Wi-Fi RSSI signals for localization gives accurate user position results. The conventional Wi-Fi RSSI signal based localization system uses raw RSSI signals from access points (APs) to estimate the user position. However, the RSSI values of a particular location are usually not stable due to the signal propagation in the indoor environments. To reduce the RSSI signal fluctuations, shadow fading, multipath effects and the blockage of Wi-Fi RSSI signals, we propose a Wi-Fi localization system that utilizes the advantages of Wi-Fi RSSI heat maps. The proposed localization system uses a regression model with deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and gives accurate user position results for indoor localization. The experiment results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed localization system for indoor localization.

  • 휴대 인터넷 기술은 모바일 환경에서 인터넷에 접근하기 위한 사용자들의 요구에서 시작되어 이를 위한 기술들이 끊임없이 연구되고 있다. 그 중 WiBro는 WiMax 포럼 안에 이동성을 지원하는 표준으로 채택된 국내표준이다. 최근 사용자들은 이동하면서 멀티미디어 정보를 이용하고자 하는 요구가 증가하고 이를 제공하기위한 기술인 MobileTV의 다양한 표준들도 활발히 연구되고 있다. WiBro 또한 이러한 사용자의 요구를 수용하기 위해 멀티캐스팅과 브로드캐스팅 기술은 반드시 지원되어야 하며 본 논문에서는 WiBro에서 멀티캐스팅을 사용할 수 있도록 MAC Layer 멀티캐스팅을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법을 통해 기존 유니캐스팅 방법으로 멀티캐스팅을 제공하는 네트워크 비효율적 방법을 해결하였다.

Bridging Solutions for a Heterogeneous WiMAX-WiFi Scenario

  • Recently, the metropolitan area network (MAN) has attracted much attention in telecommunication research and has emerged as one of the most important research topics in the community. Several standards representing the first step for developing metropolitan networks have been published; IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) has taken a relevant role in reaching the goal of realizing a full-service network all over a urban and suburban area. At the same time, the wireless local area networks (WLAN) have been widely used for in-home or short range communications, mainly basing on the IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) standard. A consequence is the increasing interest in interworking technology, that allows an interconnection between different standards by maintaining certain properties, mainly in terms of quality of service (QoS). One of the major issues is to design bridging devices capable of transparently interconnect different wireless technologies. In this paper, we propose two interconnection bridging solutions between WiMAX and WiFi links; the first is more based on the concept of maintaining a certain end-to-end QoS level independently from the wireless technologies used. The second method is more devoted to the reduction of the implementation complexity at the cost of no QoS assurance. The performance of the two methods are compared by resorting to computer simulations showing the advantages of each one technique.

  • The effect of frequency interference situation between WiBro and WLAN in TV White Space band was taken into account in this paper. We assumed the using frequency in each system is applied in co-channel. When it comes to co-channel interference case, the minimum distance between WiBro ME and WLAN UE should be at least 210m if the maximum transmitter power of WiBro UE of 25dBm is limited. Analysis results of this paper can provide efficient reference and guideline to make spectrum plan for deploying WiBro and WLAN in TVWS.

  • Recently, the Wi-Fi Direct standard based on WLAN is getting more attention as a new technology for enabling D2D(Devide-to-Device) communications on mobile devices. However, due to limited power resource of mobile devices and, an energy inefficiency problem can be an issue. In order to solve this problem, the Wi-Fi Direct defines two power management schemes: Opportunistic scheme and Notice of Absence(NoA) scheme. However, there is no concrete description of which power management scheme would be better for when. In this paper, via comprehensive simulation studies using ns-3, we show that each scheme presents obviously different performance and energy efficiency according to data traffic patterns. We then propose more energy efficient way of dynamically switching the two power management schemes.

Analysis of the Impact Factors on the Usage Satisfaction of Mobile WiMAX Femtocell Service (와이브로 펨토셀 서비스 만족도에 미치는 영향 요인 분석)

  • It is the background that the provision of the mobile WiMAX femtocell trial service of a leading mobile telecommunication service operator using small base stations for indoor mobile broadband services and coverage expansion through eliminations of shadow areas in this paper. The paper presents an analysis result of trial subscribers' usage satisfaction for the mobile WiMAX femtocell service and suggests a market approach strategy of a mobile WiMAX femtocell service based on the analysis result. The interesting influence factors are extracted from wide influence factors suggested by existing research literature related with mobile service usage satisfaction and confined to a system quality, a service quality, and an account structure with consideration for attributes of mobile WiMAX femtocell service under exploring its early stages of service market. And then we analyze impacts of the factors to the mobile WiMAX femtocell service usage satisfaction. As a result, a system quality and an account structure have a tendency to provide considerable impacts to subscribers' usage satisfaction for mobile WiMAX femtocell service which is immature in both its technology and market. Therefore a market approach with the preferential consideration of the two factors will be valid.

Implementation on Wi-Fi/IR Gateway and Smartphone Application for Integration and Control of Consumer Appliances (가전제품 통합 제어를 위한 Wi-Fi/IR 게이트웨이 및 스마트폰 애플리케이션 구현)

  • Recently, the Smart household appliances to provide Smart services have been actively spreaded by providing IoT(Internet of Things). Also, the appliances which Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can directly control are preferred. But until now, the most household appliances are based on IR(InfraRed) and the each procotols of them are different. In this paper, to solve these problems, we suggested the system to control both smart appliances and general appliances by using Smart phone. The system is "Wi-Fi to IR" gateway which receives the Wi-Fi signal to convert to IR signal and transmit it. Also, we made the remote control function in specific brands' appliances possible to most brands without limitation and tried to control not only one remote controller for one TV brand but also for all brand without limitation.
