의학교육에서의 교육정보시스템 활용 (Utilization of an Educational Information System for Medical Education)

  • The teaching and learning environment in medical schools is significantly different from that of other academic fields. An educational information system specifically designed for medical education could be an important solution for the unique context of medical education. In this study, the concept of the educational information system has been reviewed, and how such a system can be utilized effectively for medical education has also been explored. This paper also addresses how learning management systems for online learning could be made more effective through educational information systems. The application of flipped learning, which has been developing rapidly to improve teaching and learning, for medical education was also investigated. In conclusion, it was found that educational information systems could be a solution to various teaching and learning issues in medical schools. In particular, given that high performing students tend to enter medical schools, using educational information systems to improve the teaching and learning environment in medical school should be investigated further.

  • In order to truly integrate e-Learning system into regular curriculum at a university, mobile access to Learning Management Systems has to be enabled. Mobile devices have the potential to be integrated into the classroom, because they contain unique characteristics such as portability, social interactivity, context sensitivity, connectivity and individuality. Adoption of Learning Management Systems by students is still on the low rate, mostly because of poor usability of existing e-Learning systems. Our initial research has confirmed this hypothesis. Usability issue is rising to the higher level on the mobile platform, because of the mobile devices' limited screen size, input interfaces and bandwidth, and also because of the context of use. Our second hypothesis was that it is wrong to consider a mobile device as a surrogate for desktop or laptop personal computer (PC). By just adopting the existing Learning Management System on mobile devices with adaptive technologies such as Google proxy, we do not acquire the satisfactory results. Usability can prove to be even lower compared to desktop application. One possible solution to the problem could be development of rich client applications for today's mobile devices that would raise the usability to a higher level. We developed a PocketPC prototype application by using user-centered design principles, which we presented as a third alternative in usability research conducted among university students. Results gathered in such a way have confirmed that development of e-Learning system, in order to be widely accepted by students, needs to have the user(student) in the center of development process.

컨벤션 실무자 태도와 감정이 e-learning 교육성과에 미치는 영향 (E-Learning Impact on the Convention Business Settings Focusing on the Employees' Attitude and Emotion)

  • In this paper, we studied on the e-learning impact on the employees in the convention business, focusing on the employees' learning attitudes and emotion. Since the convention business is getting more attention especially in the culture and tourism industry, the employees in this convention setting are needed to reeducated periodically. We collect and test 126 employees who have studied some conventional education in e-learning. The findings of this research are that an employees' attitude and emotion have a significant positive effect on the achievement or success of the e-learning program. Based on this study, we discuss and suggests managerial implications for building e-learning context, with the consideration of the attitudes and emotion of the participants.

이러닝의 품질특성과 만족도에 관한 학습유형의 조절효과 (Moderating Effect of Learning styles on the relationship of quality and satisfaction of e-Learning context)

  • 이 연구는 이러닝의 품질요인이 학습자 만족도에 미치는 영향과, 그 관계에 있어서 학습유형의 조절효과에 대해 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구를 위해 이러닝시스템을 사용하는 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 데이터 분석을 위해 신뢰분석, 요인분석, 분산분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 실증분석 결과 이러닝의 품질요인은 컨텐츠, 시스템, 서비스, 상호작용 등 요인으로 나뉘었고, 학습자 유형은 적극적 협동학습유형, 자기주도적 학습유형, 환경의존적 학습유형, 소극적 학습유형으로 분류되었다. 이러닝의 각 품질요소는 사용자 만족도에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 자기주도적 학습유형을 가진 그룹이 만족도 수준이 높았다. 학습유형은 품질요소와 만족도 간의 관계에서 조절효과를 보였으며, 특히, 소극적 학습유형은 커뮤니티, 교강사와의 다양한 상호작용에 미치는 조절효과가 타 유형보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이러닝의 성과에 있어 품질요소와 학습자특성 간 관계에 실증적 연구성과를 추가하였으며, 추후 이러닝 사용목적, 사용형태, 학습자 특성, 학습전략 등 이러닝의 성과 연구에 있어 타 요인들과의 관련성 연구로 확대할 필요가 있다.

Innovative Approaches to Training Specialists in Higher Education Institutions in the Conditions of Distance Learning

  • Information and communication technologies used in the social sphere are born due to the development of computer technologies. The main task of the distance learning process in higher education institutions is not to provide information, but to teach how to obtain and use it. The purpose of the article: to identify innovative approaches in the training of specialists in higher education institutions in the context of distance learning. Various innovative approaches to organizing the work of students of higher educational institutions in the context of distance learning are considered. Based on the conducted research, it is concluded that each of the approaches described by us outlines the study of the phenomenon of professional training of a specialist in the condition of distance learning. All the described approaches significantly contribute to the improvement of professional training of specialists, encourage students to self-improvement, professional development and enrich their professional competence in modern conditions. The emergence and spread of innovative technologies means not only a change in the activity itself and its inherent means and mechanisms of its implementation, but also a significant restructuring of goals, value orientations, specific knowledge, skills and abilities. Therefore, the current stage of the development of civilization, scientific and technological progress requires the emergence of such specialists who would have broad humanitarian thinking, would have good psychological training, would be able to build professional activities according to laws that take into account the relationship between economic productivity and creativity, as well as the desire of the individual for constant renewal, self-realization. Only such qualities will help you master the specifics of innovative technologies well. We see the prospects in the study of innovative approaches to training specialists in higher education institutions in the condition of distance learning in foreign countries.

유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 위한 상황 모델 정의 및 상황 인식 프레임워크 구현 (Implementation of a context-awareness framework and context model for ubiquitous computing environment)

  • 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템은 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 사용자에게 상황 인식 서비스와 주변 환경에 지능적인 상호 작용을 제공한다. 따라서, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 다양한 상황과 환경에서 시스템은 컨텍스트 정보를 수집과 분석을 하기 위해 상황 인식 능력을 필요 하게 된다. 그러나 현재의 상황 인식 시스템은 다양한 타입에서 컨텍스트의 체계적인 이용에 부족하고, 단지 몇몇 시스템들은 한정된 환경에서 각자 사용자의 선호도를 획득하는 학습 매커니즘을 가진다. 본 논문에서는, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 상황 인식을 위한 개괄적인 프레임워크를 제안한다. 본 프레엄워크는 다양한 센서로부터 컨텍스트의 다양한 타입을 쉽게 이용하고 생성할 수 있게 만들어졌다. 프레엄워크는 동적 환경에서 사용자에게 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 센서, 통합, 추론 그리고 학습 컨텍스트 정보를 제공한다. 그리고 사용자의 건강을 실시간으로 관리할 수 있는 u-Health 시스템에 제안한 프레임워크를 적용을 하여 구현을 하였다.

Service-Learning Projects with Local Non-Profit Organizations Integrated into a Visual Design Class

  • The growing significance of corporate social responsibility in the fashion industry has shed light on the importance of preparing fashion students to become socially responsible professionals. In spite of numerous benefits of service-learning, the teaching/learning method has been rarely employed in the fashion design and merchandising context. Therefore, the purpose of the study was first, to examine the concept and models of service-learning and compare different types of service-learning programs, and second, to discuss service-learning projects that were adopted in a visual design class as examples that service-learning can be effectively integrated into the fashion design and merchandising curriculum. This study provides the opportunity to share successful service-learning implementation with other educators to help with effective incorporation of the pedagogical program into the curriculum.

Context-based 클러스터링에 의한 Granular-based RBF NN의 설계 (The Design of Granular-based Radial Basis Function Neural Network by Context-based Clustering)

  • In this paper, we develop a design methodology of Granular-based Radial Basis Function Neural Networks(GRBFNN) by context-based clustering. In contrast with the plethora of existing approaches, here we promote a development strategy in which a topology of the network is predominantly based upon a collection of information granules formed on a basis of available experimental data. The output space is granulated making use of the K-Means clustering while the input space is clustered with the aid of a so-called context-based fuzzy clustering. The number of information granules produced for each context is adjusted so that we satisfy a certain reconstructability criterion that helps us minimize an error between the original data and the ones resulting from their reconstruction involving prototypes of the clusters and the corresponding membership values. In contrast to "standard" Radial Basis Function neural networks, the output neuron of the network exhibits a certain functional nature as its connections are realized as local linear whose location is determined by the values of the context and the prototypes in the input space. The other parameters of these local functions are subject to further parametric optimization. Numeric examples involve some low dimensional synthetic data and selected data coming from the Machine Learning repository.

Attentive Transfer Learning via Self-supervised Learning for Cervical Dysplasia Diagnosis

  • Many deep learning approaches have been studied for image classification in computer vision. However, there are not enough data to generate accurate models in medical fields, and many datasets are not annotated. This study presents a new method that can use both unlabeled and labeled data. The proposed method is applied to classify cervix images into normal versus cancerous, and we demonstrate the results. First, we use a patch self-supervised learning for training the global context of the image using an unlabeled image dataset. Second, we generate a classifier model by using the transferred knowledge from self-supervised learning. We also apply attention learning to capture the local features of the image. The combined method provides better performance than state-of-the-art approaches in accuracy and sensitivity.

고등학교 과학과의 환경 탐구활동 개발 (Development of Environmental Inquiry Activities in Science Subject of High School)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop environmental inquiry activities for teaching the 10th grade students in science classes of high school. The activities are developed to perform goals of environmental education for sustainable development. In order to this, activities are sequently organized in order of context of laboratory, field, and problem solving in respect of one learning topic. The object of inquiry activities in laboratory context is understanding concepts related environment and environmental pollution. The inquiry activities in field context have an object of attaining good awareness and attitude toward environment. Throughout the activities in probem solving context students are expected to have a mind of participating in environmental issues. The activities are designed to learn and use integrated science knowledge in many domains. Some activities are intended to utilize MBL(Microcomputer-based Laboratory). The ICT materials, lesson plans, instructional sheets for teaching and student' sheets for inquiry were produced to guide these activities. It is expected that this effort will contribute to cultivate environmental literate persons who have not only scientific understanding but also practical will of environmental issues.
