Wide area differential GNSS(WA-DGNSS) collects GPS measurements from the several reference stations and estimates 3-D satellite orbit error, satellite clock error, ionospheric delay. These correction messages are broadcasted to user, then user can have more accurate and reliable position estimates. The performance of WA-DGPS can be changed depending on the position of reference stations. To select proper reference stations, performance analysis with the change of reference stations is necessary. In this paper, changing the geographical location of reference stations, we carried out simulation based test and show the performance of WA-DGNSS in Korea.
This paper introduces Geostationary Ocean Color Imager, IMage Pre-processing Subsystem (GOCI IMPS) of Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS), and describes its functions, development states, and operational concepts. The primary and backup systems of GOCI IMPS have been installed in Korea Ocean Satellite Center (KOSC) and Satellite Operation Center (SOC) and the system are the prelaunch test phase after completing all required tests. It is expected that the GOCI data observed continuously over the Korea Peninsular in the geostationary orbit will be usefully utilized in marine environment research fields such as sea surface temperature changes or marine ecosystems.

The Wide-Angle Polarimetric Camera (PolCam) is installed on the Korea's lunar orbiter, Danuri, which launched on August 5, 2022. The mission objectives of PolCam are to construct photometric maps at a wavelength of 336 nm and polarization maps at 461 and 748 nm, with a phase angle range of 0°-135° and a spatial resolution of less than 100 m. PolCam is an imager using the push-broom method and has two cameras, Cam 1 and Cam 2, with a viewing angle of 45° to the right and left of the spacecraft's direction of orbit. We conducted performance tests in a laboratory setting before installing PolCam's flight model on the spacecraft. We analyzed the CCD's dark current, flat-field frame, spot size, and light flux. The dark current was obtained during thermal / vacuum test with various temperatures and the flat-field frame data was also obtained with an integrating sphere and tungsten light bulb. We describe the calibration method and results in this study.

Spaceborne imaging sensors require periodic calibrations using an on-board calibration device for an image quality of observation satellites. The on-board calibration device consists of a blackbody to provide uniform radiance temperatures and calibration mechanism with a function of stow and deploy to target the blackbody during the calibration. Among these devices, the calibration mechanism is required to implement a fail-safe function to prevent blocking of the main optical path when the mechanism stops at a certain position during on-orbit calibration. In addition, structural safety of the mechanical driving part of the mechanism within the launch environment must be guaranteed. In this study, we proposed a deploy/stow-type calibration mechanism that provides launch-lock and fail-safe function. The effectiveness of the functionality of the proposed mechanism was validated through functional test using engineering model.

A two-axis gimbal-type X-band antenna for CAS(Compact Advanced Satellite) transmits large amount of image data to ground station regardless of satellite attitude and orbital motion. This antenna mounted on the external surface of the satellite is directly exposed to the extreme space with thermal environment during the orbital operation. Therefore, a proper thermal design is needed to maintain the antenna itself as well as other main components within allowable temperature range. In this study, the thermal design effectiveness of two-axis gimbal X-band antenna was verified through the thermal analysis. In addition, required power and duty cycle of heater were estimated through the thermal analysis under conditions of system level thermal vacuum test and on-orbit thermal environment. The thermal analysis results indicated that all the main components of X-band antenna satisfy the allowable temperature requirement.
The Earth's total magnetic field was extracted from on board TAM (Three Axis Magnetometer) observations of KOMPSAT-1 satellite between June 19th and 21st, 2000. In the pre-processing, the TAM's telemetry data were transformed from ECI (Earth Centered Inertial frame) to ECEF (Earth Centered Earth Fixed frame) and then to spherical coordination, and self-induced magnetic field by satellite bus itself were removed by using an on-orbit magnetometer data correction method. The 2-D wavenumber correlation filtering and quadrant-swapping method were applied to the pre-processed data in order to eliminate dynamic components and track-line noise, respectively. Then, the spherical harmonic coefficients are calculated from KOMPSAT-1 data. To test the validity of the TAM's geomagnetic field, Danish/NASA/French ${\phi}$rsted satellite's magnetic model and IGRF2000 model were used for statistical comparison. The correlation coefficient between ${\phi}$rsted and TAM is 0.97 and IGRF and TAM is 0.96. It was found that the data from on board magnetometer observations for attitude control of Earth-observing satellites can be used to determinate the Earth's total magnetic field and that they can be efficiently used to upgrade the global geomagnetic field coefficients, such as IGRF by providing new information at various altitudes with better temporal and spatial coverage.

Galileo is a new civil Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) developed by Europe. GIOVE-A, a satellite to test Galileo system performance, transmits navigation signal on orbit. Evaluation of Galileo system and development of Galileo receiver needs to analyze GIOVE-A signals. In this paper, we received GIOVE-A signals and processed it using GIOVE-A Interface Control Document(ICD). Signal acquisition, tracking and navigation message decoding made grasping current signal status possible. Bandwidth increase by BOC modulation is one of the difference from GPS. Therefore, we investigated feasibility of conventional GPS L1 RF front-end to receive GIOVE-A E1 signal by evaluation of receiving performance of navigation signal on each bandpass filter of RF front-end.

The major objective of this study is to develop and verify the KAUSAT-5 based on the modular 3U CubeSat standard platform. In the mechanical system design of a 3U standard platform, subsystem and micro equipment functions/performance should be integrated and miniaturized on micro-sized PCBs and electrical capability was maximized to accommodate multiple payloads. KAUSAT-5 is 3U-sized Cubesat which will be operated in Low Earth Orbit(LEO), which implements mainly two scientific missions; one is to observe the Earth through infrared camera and the other is to measure space radiation with a Geiger Muller tube. An additional mission is to verify the equipment(device) such as VSCMG and fuzzy logic-based MPPT internally developed. The results of ETB, qualification and acceptance level environmental tests were shown to verify standard platform and KAUSAT-5 Cubesat.

Increasing numbers of space debris around the earth now pose a major threat to satellites as their impact velocity may reach up to several km/s. We use a pulse laser to accelerate a miniflyer for mimicking the space debris. The multi-layer coat on the confined medium is known to promote a higher acceleration. However, it requires some special techniques which take somewhat long time and cost to coat. Instead, we devised a simple concept to coat by the black lacquer paint on a flyer. It shows improvement in the flyer velocity by 1.5-2 times the uncoated, and the resulting velocity reached 1.42km/s with Nd:YAG laser energy under 1.4 joules. The resulting velocity is suitable for satellite vulnerability test for debris impact in the geostationary orbit.

The main purpose of launch vehicle is to insert satellite into a target orbit safely and correctly. To accomplish the main purpose of launch vehicle, the inserting velocity, inserting angle, and final mass of launch vehicle should be within the allowable range. In general, such requirements are satisfied with applying TCS(Thrust Control System) and TDS(Tank Depletion System), which manage thrust and mixture ratio by controlling propellant flow rate with thrust and mixture ratio control valves. In this study, the control characteristics of thrust and mixture ratio control valve were examined by PID control logic for stable operation of liquid-Propellant rocket engine at on-dosing point. The analysis on the control characteristics of control valves was done with AMESim code and the results from control valve test facility at KARI.
