This study empirically examines the dynamic specification of the ship price model based on a vector autoregressive model and data covering from January 2000 to October 2014. Our results are summarized as follows: first, the relationship between ship price and interest rate shows significantly negative and the relationship between ship price and freight rate shows positive. It provides consistent implication that ship price depends on interest rate and freight rate under the dynamic Gordon model. Second, we apply an impulse response analysis to ship price and find the responses of the ship price from both factors, interest rate and freight rate, which affect during seven periods approximately. Finally, the results of a variance decomposition indicate that freight rate is more important than interest rate on the ship price.
The purpose of this study is to identify the leading price between Jeju and Wando's oliver flounder producer price and to analyze the dynamic effect of the regional producer price using the panel VAR model. In the process of analysis, it was confirmed that there are unit roots in the monthly data of Jeju and Wando's oliver flounder producer price. So, in order to avoid spurious regression, the rate change of producer price which carries out log difference was used in the analysis. As a result of the analysis, first, the panel Granger causality test showed that the influence of the change rate of producer price in oliver flounder in Jeju was slightly larger than that in Wando, but it was found that each region all leads the change rate of the producer price in oliver flounder. Second, the panel VAR estimation showed that the rate change of producer price in Jeju and Wando a month ago had a statistically significant effect on the change rate of producer price of each region. Third, the impulse response analysis indicated that other regions are affected a little more than the same region in case of the occurrence of the impact on the error terms of the change rate of produce price in Jeju and Wando oliver flounder. Fourth, the variance decomposition analysis showed that the change rate of producer price in the two regions was higher explained by Jeju compared to Wando. In conclusion, it is expected that the above results can not only be useful as basic data for the stabilization of oliver flounder producer price and the establishment of policies for easing volatility but can also help the oliver flounder industry operate its business.
This paper aims to analyze the causal relationships between agricultural exports and economic growth in the U.S. economy by 50 states. Using the annual data from 1973 to 2007, the theoretical methodologies based on the export-led growth (ELG) model under the static model, the impulse response function (IRF) and forecast error variation decomposition (FEVD) under the vector autoregressive (VAR) model, and the Granger causality test. The results show the causal relationship between agricultural exports and economic growth at the states' level. Especially, the ELG hypothesis is strongly supported in the case of 16 states (HI, ID, KS, MD, MI, MN, NJ, NC, ND, OK, OR, RI, SD, TX, WA, and WI) and is also weakly supported in the case of 31 states. Therefore, the agricultural exports are important factor of developing in the U.S. economy, and furthermore some states (located in coastal area and breadbasket) indicate the strong evidence for agricultural exports-led growth.

The present work deals with subjective assessments to propose the objective parameter related to the subjective attribute of reverberation in the coupled room varied the aperture opening size. A 1/10 scale model was built and used for the measurements and subjective assessments. For the subjective tests, binaural impulse responses(BIRs) were measured using a dummy head and the measured BIRs were convolved with anechoic recorded music for the presentation over the headphones. The results showed that the perceived reverberation was the largest in the aperture opening size 12.5%(1.97% of mail) room surface area)and decreased with increasing the aperture opening size over 25% (3.94% of main room surface area) in the main room coupled with the secondary reverberant room. In the main room coupled with the secondary absorptive room, there was no changes in the perceived reverberation up to the aperture opening size 6.25%(0.99% of main room surface area) and it gradually decreased with increasing the aperture opening site over 12.5%. The objective parameter, T30/T15, showed a very low correlation with the perceived reverberation in the coupled room varied the aperture opening size but showed a high correlation with a new objective parameter, T30/Tbp, proposed by the authors. Because the late part decay energy more rapidly increases with increasing the aperture opening site than the early and middle part decay energy, the LDT/EDT or T3/T1 is a better quantifier to measure double slopes in the coupled room than the T30/T15.
Because of structural changes in the international oil market and the economy, it is widely recognized that the impact of oil shocks on the economy has weaken since the mid-1980s. This study tries to examine the validity of the recent perception about the relationship between oils shocks and the economy, estimating the time-varying effects of oil shocks on the Korean economy. The results show that the dynamic effects of oil shocks normalized to a one standard deviation has been relatively constant, in contrast to the recent perception and a number of existing studies. In addition, because the shape of impulse response functions at each point in time spanning from 1984:II to 2017:IV has not been changed significantly, it seems that the propagation mechanism of oil shocks also has not been substantially altered. These findings indicate that even though structural changes of the economy, such as the reduction in the share of oil consumption and the spread of high-efficiency energy technologies, have been rapidly progressed, it is not still enough to offset the negative effects of oil shocks. Rather, it seems that the recent perception about the shrinking effects of oil shocks is mainly due to the assumptions that do not reflect changes in the size of oil shocks. In particular, this problem appears more pronounced in the case of the typical a one standard deviation increase oil shock under homoskedasticity assumption, which is widely adopted in the most VAR analyses. Therefore, in estimating the effects of oil shocks on the economy, it is important to specify the correct model and normalization method, to reflect changes in the size of oil shocks.
A nuclide transfer by utilizing mass transfer coefficient and barrier response function defined for each barrier is proposed, by which the final nuclide transfer rate into the sea water can be evaluated. When simple and immediate quantification of the nuclide release is necessary in the conservative aspect, using this kind of approach may be advantageous since each layered barrier can be treated separately from other media in series in the repository system, making it possible to apply separate solutions in succession to other various media. Although one disadvantage is that while flux continuity can be maintained at the interface by using the exit nuclide flux from the first medium as the source flux for the next one, there may be no guarantee for concentration continuity, this problem could be eliminated assuming that there is no boundary resistance to mass transfer across the interface. Mass transfer coefficient can be determined by the assumption that the nuclide concentration gradient at the interface between adjacent barriers remains constant and barrier response function is obtained from an analytical expression for nuclide flow rate out of each barrier in response to a unit impulse into the barrier multiplied by mass transfer coefficient. Total time-dependent nuclide transfer rate from the barrier can then be obtained by convoluting the response function for the barrier with a previously calculated set of time-varying input of nuclide flow rate for the previous barrier.
We examine offline and online channel sales of experience goods, and compare and contrast the sales patterns of existing products and new products between channels. To this end, we obtain the channel-specific time-series sales data from the leading company selling beauty products, both offline and online. By applying the Vector Autoregressive Model, we empirically find out how the relationship between existing products and new products changes between the shopping channels. Our empirical findings are as follows. First, the sales effects from existing products to new products are significantly positive at both offline and online channels, and this positive effect is greater in the offline channel than in the online channel. Second, the influence of new products on existing products is more positive in the offline channel than in the online channel. Third, the impact of existing products sales on new products sales is greater than that of new products on existing products. Lastly, the inertia effect, the effect within the same shopping channel and the same selling product, is significantly positive in the offline channel but not in the online channel, and this asymmetric inertia effect emerges as we focus on experience goods. Moreover, the impulse response function analysis provides the three important implications. First, companies should pay attention to the same channel but different types of products. Second, the offline channel is more vulnerable to market shock than the online channel. Third, new products sales vary by existing products sales to the greater extent, compared to the opposite relationship. We believe our study contributes theoretically and practically to the fields of marketing and knowledge management.

This study pertains to the extraction of the road noise component of signals from a vehicle's interior noise via the traditional frequency domain and time domain system identification methods. For road noise extraction based on the frequency domain system identification method, the appropriate matrix inversion strategy is investigated and causal and non-causal impulse response filters are compared. Furthermore, appropriate data lengths for the frequency domain system identification method are investigated. In addition to the traditional road noise extraction methods based on frequency domain system identification, a new approach to extract road noise via the time domain system identification method based on a parametric input-output model is proposed and investigated in the present study. In this approach, instead of constructing a higher order model for the full-band road noise, input and output signals are processed in the subband domain and lower order parametric models optimal to each subband are determined. These parametric models are used to extract road noises in each subband; the full band road noise is then reconstructed from the subband road noises. This study shows that both the methods in the frequency domain and the time domain successfully extract the road noise from the vehicle's interior noise.

Interconnected power system operation has given rise to the problem of increased fault levels and leads to over stressing of all the components. Use have been made of recently developed high Tc superconductor in devising a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) that promises optimum performance in terms of capital cost, size, auto sensing, operational losses, response time and reliability. Recently, research about the application of the SFCL is actively progressing in Korea. To be applied for SFCL practically, the electrical insulation design of SFCL must be developed. Therefore, this paper presents the result of an investigation of the dielectric characteristics of turn-to-turn insulation for SFCL in liquid nitrogen. The dielectric characteristics of turn-to-turn insulation models of SFCL were investigated. We obtained following results. The breakdown voltages increased as the spacer thickness and length increased. And the breakdown voltages of turn-to-turn model without spacer were higher than the breakdown voltages of turn-to-turn model with spacer under impulse as well as AC voltages. The information gathered in this test series should be helpful in the design of liquid nitrogen filled SFCL.
This paper has studied the monetary policy in Korea with a time varying VAR model using four key macroeconomic variables. First, inclusion of the exchange rate was a crucial factor in evaluating Korean monetary policy since the monetary policy demonstrated sensitivity to exchange rate movements during the crisis periods of both the Asian financial crisis of 1997 and the global financial crisis of 2008. Second, a specification of the stochastic volatilities in TVP-VAR model is important in explaining excessive movements of all variables in the sample. The overall moderation of variables in 2000s was more or less due to a reduction of the stochastic volatilities but also somewhat due to the macroeconomic fundamental structures captured by impulse response functons. Third, the degree of the monetary policy effectiveness of inflation was mitigated in recent periods but with increased persistence. Lastly, the monetary policy stance towards inflation stabilization has advanced ever since the inflation targeting scheme was adopted. However, there still seems to be a room for improvement in this aspect since the degree of the monetary policy stance towards inflation stabilization was relatively weaker than to output stabilization.
